Salman Mirza replaces injured Dilbar Hussain

• Lahore Qalandars kick off their HBL PSL 6 campaign on Sunday by taking on Peshawar Zalmi

Karachi, 21 February 2021:

Pacer Dilbar Hussain will miss Lahore Qalandars’ opening match of the HBL PSL 6 due to a recurrence of a hamstring injury in his left leg.

Salman Mirza - a find of the Lahore Qalandars Player Development Programme - has replaced Dilbar in the Qalandars squad.

The technical committee has approved the replacement, while the exact timeline on Dilbar’s return to action is yet to be determined.

The technical committee comprises Dr Sohail Saleem, Marina Iqbal, Nadeem Khan and Sameer Khosa.

Lahore Qalandars begin their HBL PSL 6 campaign on Sunday by taking on Peshawar Zalmi at the National Stadium in an afternoon fixture.

Ok so all good in the PSL 6 world - Wahab will lead PZ today

PCB Release

Appeal on a player and official guilty of breaching bio-secure bubble in Friday, has been accepted. The two have been allowed to integrate with the side

The team has offered its regrets to the PCB on Friday’s breach and has thanked the PSL ETC for accepting their appeal. They have further assured protocols will be followed and respected as everyone wants the PSL to succeed.

Qalandars win toss elect to bowl first

What kind of joke is this ? :)))

Didn't Wahab breach the bio secure bubble? He had to get tested negative twice before entering the bubble again

A bit confused here i am sure every team has to play emerging players if so who are they in these teams

This is exactly why Pakistan Cricket is a joke. Why are Wahab and Sammy allowed back with the squad? Let them quarantine and return when they have 2 negative tests.

Absoloute Joke

Brilliant from Shaheen so far.

Swinging the ball beautifully.

Lahore batting is too strong. Zalmi will have to put up a decent target.

Want to mute the commentary, no offense but the lady can barely speak English and annoying as hell

Malik still our best middle order bat after Hafeez.

Salman Mirza looks a decent bowler. Far better than some of the trash that's still going around on the domestic scene.

This is so boring, Malik just eating up deliveries in the power play

Shaheen Afridi showing he is a World class player. The only we have alongside Babar Azam.

PSL 2021 | Match 2 | Lahore Qalandars v Peshawar Zalmi | 21st February | Karachi | Match discussion

David Gower commentating. Hearing his voice after a long time really. Made me nostalgic. What a soothing to the ears voice he has!

Lahore Qalandars playing late 20s fast bowlers found from their talent hunt program. I wonder if they've found any young gem bowler.

New names uncovered by LQ. Surprisingly I dont see these names in domestic but I'm seeing them in PSL year after year from LQ.

Just because he scored 2 boundaries ?
He is still one of our those middle order bats who extended their careers and still have an average record
Almost played for 20 years and still these very 2 guys failed us at the 2019 wc

Malik has still got it when the ball is pitched up, anything fast and short and Malik is like deer in headlights.

Is it Amir Sohail commentating??? Not international standard but certainly best among all Pak commentators.

If we are to play Iftikhar in the national team, might as well play Malik . . way better and fitter than Ifti

I have a feeling Zalmi is the most successful Corporate/commercial franchise. They have some very notable commercial sponsors and some international celebs as publishing face. I have a good feeling they are most profitable of the 6 franchises.

Multan might be second in the list of profitable franchises.

Whenever Sana Mir comes in my television and whenever she talks, INSTANT MUTE... it sucks that a great voice like David Gower's is ruined by her... At least Urooj Mir is kinda good though

Malik gone, tame dismissal. Malik is all but non-existent to any sort of short bowling.

LQ seems to have their own mini cricket structure going on parallel to PCB, never heard of the guy Salman Mirza before this and he replaces injured Dilbar another home grown product for the period he is unavailable. :smith

There is one female commentator among the lot who is really good and can have a decent career ahead of her (don't know her name but she might be Urooj). She is leagues ahead of the other commentators and even analysts like Zainab Abbas.

Imagine if each franchise had this by now...

To be honest I don't like this idea of picking these nobodies. We have a big domestic setup where bowlers are struggling to make a name for themselves. For them getting picked for a PSL franchise would result in sufficient income. And here we have couple of no names being picked out of nowhere with no domestic record either. They are not Wasim or Shoaib calibre that you pick from streets to play PSL and earn very hefty income. With all respect these are average bowlers.

Rashid Khan is such a high quality bowler.

Very rarely does he bowl a bad ball.

Zalmi is not going to go far in the tournament with this batting unit. They are quite heavily dependent on Haider to come good in order to post a good total. There is not a single batsman apart from Haider to have a worthy power game.

These brand promos in the crowd are cringey af, makes me change the channel every time. Tapal, head & shoulders and the most recent donuts. Cringey cringey stuff, makes the league seem very low level.

While its a good initiative as far as balance is maintained but, I agree that sometimes LQ gets overboard with their own products. Sohail Akhtar being the captain (Yes LQ did well last year) and ordinary cricket like Mohammad Faizan getting as many games as he got last year have been some questionable things. I dont mind guys like Haris and Dilbar coming through as they form good competition in domestic cricket as well once identified through LQ. Also to be honest I cant think of many domestic pacers who are missing out except maybe couple here and there if we push it a bit.

All the Pakistan batsmen are out, making no impression at all. Now we will say PSL bowling quality is great.

Extra_Cover though previously allowing 23+ years old pacers of LQ as emerging because they never played domestic cricket was definitely something arguable in terms of whether should be allowed or not. I am not sure about the policy this year but, atleast Ahmed Danyal is 22-23. Age does make a difference as its easier to mold and develop a younger pacer from tap ball circuit by the time he still have good years left in him than an older one.

These is an average bowling unit of LQ which has thrived against below average batting unit of Zalmi.

So Haris Rauf is possibly one who is covid positive?

It’s not like these tracks are hard to bat on. Quetta and Peshawar have failed to capitalise on the imagination of the world wide audience with poor batting. This is not good advertisement for the PSL brand

Why don't they just give the mic to them to speak into rather than on a stand as their mics are barely audible not clear loud at all.

If I'm honest I can sense some high degree of favoritism in these selections. They are not world beaters and certainly not better than someone like Shahnawaz Dhani, Arshad Iqbal or Akif Javed.

In my humble opinion a bowler who has put in hours in domestic cricket day after day deserves first share of this PSL pie than someone who is nobody.

Atleast PZ batting much sensibly after the collapse in comparison to QG and are giving them self a chance to have something on the board with a good over or two.

Fair enough. Its good that young pacers you have named are being recognized by other franchises. Surprisingly despite all the LQs effort the best pacer for LQ has been Shaheen Afridi who has come through a proper junior level cricket and is now their vice captain as well. That should give LQ management an indication its better to have a balance than to go overboard with own products.

That was a top ball, nothing many batsmen could have done there.
