Babar should be dropped with shaheen appointed as a new captain . Shaheen is brave and decisive

Shaheen helping his friend Rizwan here by allowing him to get close to the total and save his nrr!

Yes Rizwan. Another beautiful run a ball innings as a T20I opener. Just what Pakistan cricket needs to see.

I've been on cloud 9 following the Arsenal win. What did he say?

Just went hard on Sultan’s opening strategy

He said IU had the right idea chasing the score against LQ when they were 41-0 in 4 overs in their chase.

Tactically inept MS today.

Completely outplayed by a far better side.

The MS approach was cautious and at times strange.

Simon Doull "Qalandars don't give runs away easily at the back end of the innings. You have to make the most of the powerplay against them and that wasn't done. Multan were pedestrian in the powerplay"

So despite only scoring 44 in the powerplay, Rizwan says their problem was after the powerplay.

The fraud Rizwan blaming the middle overs for the loss (after powerplay) but not himself and Shan in the powerplay

If he ever gave an interview like that as Pakistan captain!

Why is he acting so confident and cocky??

Do you wonder why no one asks him this question on TV?

Mohammad Rizwan: When you lose, it feels like it wasn’t your day. Like last match, post the powerplay we lost the momentum. Rashid Khan came on and changed the game, this gap is something we need to fix. When you end up bowling 22 overs in a 20 over game with so many wides, such a target is bound to happen. (On Usama Mir’s promotion) It was a plan so that we could target Rashid, but it didn't work out. We need to keep things simple, we are probably a bowler short but the main thing we need to control is our performance post the powerplay.

Hussain Talat: Nice atmosphere in the team. We play like a team. I’m enjoying playing with so many senior players. Shaheen, Haris and Rashid all are bowling well. The captain brings me on get wickets, that’s a very good feeling. When he gives me the bowl, Shaheen tells me there’s no pressure, just do your best. I’ve been practicing my yorkers.

Rashid Khan | Player of the Match: I just keep it simple and try my best to do the basics right. I have clarity in my preparation and don't make too many changes in that. I never do plannings for the upcoming team, I have played enough with all these players and know my areas to bowl. As long as you are hitting the right line and length it is gonna be tough for the batters

Shaheen Afridi: Had the belief in our bowling group and the preparation was good as well. Sam and Abdullah batted really well and we needed to bowl well to defend 180 and our bowlers responded well. We will try and give opportunities to all the players on the bench. We are in a good position now and can afford to give chances to the other players.

Wonder how much of say Andy Flower really has as this approach is very reminiscent of how Pakistan would chase a total under RizBar leadership.....

Table-toppers Lahore Qalandars put another fantastic performance on Saturday night at the Gaddafi Stadium to defeat Multan Sultans by 21 runs. Sam Billings’ maiden half-century of the season and Abdullah Shafique’s 48 helped Lahore Qalandars to 180 for nine after which a splendid show with the ball, in which Rashid Khan stood out with three for 15, restricted Multan Sultans to 159 for seven.

Lahore Qalandars lost Fakhar Zaman on only third ball of the match after Shaheen Afridi elected to bat. Abdullah made his intentions clear from the first ball as he drove Sameen Gul down the ground for a boundary. The right-hander has been in good touch this season and his bat continued to ooze runs as he added 50 runs for the second wicket with Mirza Tahir Baig (17 off 11) and 69 for the third with Billings in an innings of 35 balls in which he smashed six fours and a six.

Billings smashed six fours and two sixes in his 35-ball 54 before he became Kieron Pollard’s second wicket. The all-rounder had caught and bowled Abdullah earlier. Anwar Ali, Ihsanullah and Abbas Afridi also took two wickets each.

Multan Sultans had a slow start to the run chase than they would have liked and they faced first blow in the seventh over when Shaheen took a brilliant catch to send back Shan Masood (19 off 20) off Zaman Khan. They sent in Usama Mir at one-drop, but that gamble did not pay off, as the leg-spinner could only muster 17 off 11 – hitting one six and a four.

Mohammad Rizwan was trapped in front by Sikandar Raza in the 10th over, but the actual turning point came when Rashid dismissed Usama and David Miller in a span of four balls in the 11th over. The leggie bowled Rilee Rossouw in his next over – 13th of the innings – to reduce Multan Sultans to 87 for five.

Pollard did put up a show with the bat towards the end, but by then, it was all too late. The West Indian hit three sixes and two fours in his 39 off 28.

Rashid finished with incredible figures of three for 15

Scores in brief:

Lahore Qalandars 180-9, 20 overs (Sam Billings 54, Abdullah Shafique 48; Kieron Pollard 2-16, Anwar Ali 2-21, Abbas Afridi 2-25, Ihsanullah 2-33)

Multan Sultans 159-7, 20 overs (Kieron Pollard 39, Mohammad Rizwan 30; Rashid Khan 3-15)

Player of the match – Rashid Khan (Lahore Qalandars)

Tomorrow’s fixture:

1900 - Islamabad United v Quetta Gladiators at Pindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi

Lahore has too many super stars. Its not fair on other teams to go against an international quality side and expect them to compete.

Khushdil should not play any more games for Multan.I am amazed he is part of this team.Talat doesn’t deserve to be in Qalandar’s team.He is a bird and pieces player, not a good batter or bowler.

So despite only scoring 44 in the powerplay, Rizwan says their problem was after the powerplay.

That lack of insight from Rizwan is really concerning. I thought he would show some humility at least and acknowledge that they could have done better in the PP. To any independent cricket observer that was a poor powerplay performance especially Shan Masoods innings which was criminal.

It’s a common theme to blame this mythical “post powerplay”, “middle order” failure to compensate for a pathetic powerplay.

How clueless are you if you don’t understand the importance of a powerplay in a t20? It’s not a complicated game. Power plays are there for a reason. The rule makers did not put it there for two so-called “anchors” to form a “solid base” at the top of the innings.

Only in Pakistan can such a pathetic tactic be allowed to continue.

Totally agree with your assessment.
