Lahore Qalandars [187/4] defeat Karachi Kings [186/9] by 6 wickets in PSL 6 thriller

If you manage to bowl a tight length then you can keep him quiet, but Sharjeel is such a batsman anything full and hel hit you straight over for 6. Anything slightly short hel pull you for a joke.

Yes and he can join them. I don't want those medicore opening overs at 15/1 after 3 overs in the WC.
 
Called it samit should have been not selected in Lahore squad uptill now zero performance in psl
 
that 2nd six on replay it although said 131 sixes for the tournament, i thought 131 meters long six and it would have fit the bill...

Good that Shaheen is getting more involved. Hopefully from the next game, he starts captaining Lahore.

He is not consistent and never is going to achieve consistency of Babar or even Rizwan. However, he can play match changing knocks on his day. I always believe whiteball team should be combination of both kind of players where there are consistent ones as well as the ones who on their day can completely take the game away from opposition without worrying about anything else.
 
Our T20 team is really shaping up nicely. For all the people putting Sharjeel in the middle order is just ridiculous. The guy has opened all his life and that’s where makes the most sense. Where he can play his pick up shots with least risk of getting caught at the boundary. He should open with Babar, and allow Rizwan to come in at 3. Rizwan will technically play as opener for the days Sharjeel gets out early anyways. Our international team should look something like this:

1. Sharjeel
2. Babar
3. Rizwan
4. Hafeez
5. Haider
6. An aggressive finisher here (Danish Aziz, Azam, Sohaib Maqsood etc...lots of options available for this role)
7. Faheem
8. Imad or Shadab
9. Hassan Ali
10. Shaheen
11. Third bowler here (Hasnain, Harris, Qadir, Zahid etc. Lots of options here)


This composition makes the most sense to me. A dynamic, aggressive squad for all pitches, all scenarios.

That’s an awful spin attack for India. Good spinners will be important in the World Cup even if the ball doesn’t do much

good that he is vice captain then...will have to start thinking more about the game and develop some cricketing intelligence....although... im not sure sohail akhtar is the captain you want to follow...

Daniyal has been impressive today. LQ missing a specialist spinner for the middle overs, Sandeep should be a boost

I would bring in Shaheen for just one over and ask him to go all out to take a wicket here.

Yes, but would you rather have him building up that monster strike rate as an opener at the start or eating up crucial deliveries and slowing down momentum in the middle overs?

Some more stats:

Sharjeel has gone past the 20-ball mark in only 8 out of 27 innings in the PSL.
 
Debates aside. Its good to see atlast we have some batsmen putting their hands up to debate about that who should be coming in and not when previously with everyone struggling it was a pretty dry topic. :smith
 
Just be this innings it can be proven why Sharjeel shouldn’t be in the team. 6 sixes from the 39 balls he faced therefore from his remaining 29 balls he only scored 28 (also let’s consider he hit 5 4s).
He cannot take quick singles, he cannot run doubles and he cannot field. Plus he gets dropped every innings he plays, a mistake international teams won’t make

Refer to 8/27 above. I don’t think Sharjeel is a player who we can rely on to “get in”. He should come in at 4 and strike from the word go since qualitatively speaking he is much better against spin than pace. In most innings, Sharjeel is slower than Babar in the first 6 overs.
 
Too many slower balls. Daniyal will go for plenty against guys like Russell or Pollard if they get a hold of him

Show us Sharjeel's strike rate in the ODI and T20I powerplays prior to his ban.
 
Fakhar and SHarjeel have to be some of the luckiest cricketers ever. They always get dropped when i watch them bat.

Yes professor is in beast mode. For LQ to chase one of Fakhar or Hafeez will have to fire supported by the others around.

And serious struggles against the moving ball. Note Shaheen Afridi today and Sohail Khan day before yesterday.
 
I'm glad PSL is doing a lot of work with Charities.

I don't know if it is Wasim Khan's Initiative or somebody else, but really what sports should be about

its probably been covered on here before but how is sohail akhtar selected and captain... he must have some for of connection with owners/management?

Not sure you watched the recent India v Australia series. Kohli and his lot will provide plenty of chances.

Daniyal is emerging player. Dilbar is injured and is not emerging player as well. If he gets fit than LQ might go for emerging batsman Zaid Alam to maintain one emerging player requirement in the team.
 
LQ needs to squeeze in couple of quick wickets here

im not sure whether daniyal should be allowed as an emerging player tbh...hes 28 i feel that category should be kept for players under a certain age
 
Same template every match . Team would look to go all past 200 but fell short by a few runs only to be chased by the team batting Second.

This means two things. Either sharjeel struggles against the pacers and accelerates against the spinners or he take a while to get going in which case he wont be able to come in and hit from the get go if required at 4 or 5.

They will not play Sharjeel lower than 3, and only one of Falhar and Sharjeel will play. All the players you mentioned should be selected in the squad.
 
It would be criminal to drop Sharjeel now...one of the few players who can actually make PSL likeable.....worldwide....hope the side batting first wins today for a change

You obviously don't watch much cricket. Most players have been dropped before they get to a ton especially in white ball cricket.

He does the job and that is important however may be not playing him as opener would be criminal......
