What's new

Lahore Qalandars [187/4] defeat Karachi Kings [186/9] by 6 wickets in PSL 6 thriller

This trend of chasing team winning every game needs to change. Its getting ridiculous

Another predictable win.....man this need to be changed....could have easily been 17 of last.....

Lol for amir. Showed some fiery for 2 overs and then back to his usual self.

Amir bowled very well. 3 x edges behind all go for boundaries. I've never seen a batting side have this much luck in one over.

Karachi well and truly choked that game :facepalm

Congratulations Lahore and Wiese

Winning after you team scores 340+ in a major final, a score never ever chased before, is not pressure

India’s done it before, Kohli has done it before, (maybe not in a final but they had the capability). it’s a tournament final, there’s always pressure lol.

Exactly he had scoreboard on his side.
Amir opening spells are good but he always always let it slip in his final overs .

Winning after you team scores 340+ in a major final, a score never ever chased before, is not pressure. Even Zim bowlers can defend 340+ in a major final there is a reason that score has never been chased in cricket history in a major final

Have you even been to live Pak Vs India match before? Every live moment is pressure...not a fan of Amir's recent antics but can't take away his spell at the CT final and the wickets if Rohit, Kohli and Dhavan....

LLLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

You beauty!

Well I predicted Amir vs Wiese and he won us the game. Amir bowled too full most of the time. Why not have a spinner bowling last over.

Weise getting falhar out turned out to be a blessing in disguise for qalandars

Can someone plz explain imad wasim captaincy pathetic stuff from imad ridiculous

What a high voltage game, what incredibly drama! Another Karachi-Lahore match lives fully up to its expectations. This is indeed my most favourite rivalry in cricket right now. From great pace bowling to brilliant batting, the match had everything, barring, of course, good fielding, which is quite expected in the PSL.

I think that it was a blessing in disguise that Fakhar got out because he was finding it quite hard towards the end of his innings in finding the boundaries due to the wide yorker strategy that the Karachi bowlers came up with. Whoever came up with that idea is a genius, and I think that it must've been Wasim Akram. He's no less than a devil mind you.

Also, although I was supporting Lahore, but I find it a little disappointing that there's no way, in the ongoing PSL, that you're ever going to successfully defend a target, even if you get early wickets. This issue needs to be addressed, for this is making the results quite predictable and making it bit of a win the toss win the game kind of a trend.

Amir was extremely unlucky in the 19th over. Three fours, 12 runs, purely and entirely down to luck. Feel bad for him. He was pumped otherwise and had bowled three magnificent overs before that.

Late onslaught from David Wiese and half-centuries from Fakhar Zaman and Ben Dunk guided last year’s runners-up Lahore Qalandars to an emphatic six-wicket win over defending champions Karachi Kings in the 11th fixture of the HBL PSL 6 at Karachi’s National Stadium on Sunday evening.

Chasing 187 to win, Qalandars found themselves in a spot of bother losing two wickets for no run in the first over. Mohammad Hafeez (15 off nine, one four, one six) was the next batsman to go as Qalandars were reeling at 33 for three in the fifth over.

Left-handed Fakhar was joined by another left-hander Dunk. Both contributed a 119-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Fakhar top-scored with a 54-ball 83. He smoked eight fours and four sixes.

Requiring 30 runs from two overs, the right handed Wiese got two fours off Mohammad Amir before he smashed a six in the penultimate over, as Qalandars collected 20 runs and brought down the equation to 10 required off the final over.

Wiese hit two consecutive sixes off Daniel Christian first two balls to help Qalandars over the line with four balls spare.

Dunk (57 not out off 43, five fours, two sixes) and Wiese (31 not out off nine, three fours, three sixes) contributed an unbeaten 47-run partnership for the fifth wicket.

Earlier, half-centuries from Sharjeel Khan and Mohammad Nabi helped Kings post 186 for nine. After being put into bat, Kings had a wobbly start, as they lost their premier batsman Babar Azam –the top run getter in HBL PSL –for five, to a scorching in-swinging delivery from Shaheen Afridi. Joe Clarke (four off six, one four) and Colin Ingram (0 off one) were next to follow Babar with scoreboard reading at 37 for three at the end of fifth over.

Sharjeel, who got a life in the first over of the match, made full use of his dropped catch, as he punished Qalandars bowlers all around the ground, and struck five fours and six towering sixes in his innings of 64. He was equally supported by Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi, who scored his first half-century in the HBL PSL 6. He contributed 57 off 35 balls, hitting four fours and three sixes. Both batsmen knitted 76 runs for the fourth wicket partnership.

After the departure of Nabi, Kings managed to add only 24 runs in the last four overs, and ended up scoring 186 for nine.

For Qalandars, Shaheen was the most successful bowler, taking three wickets for 27.

Scores in brief

Karachi Kings 186-9, 20 overs (Sharjeel Khan 64, Mohammad Nabi 57, Daniel Christian 27; Shaheen Shah Afridi 3-27)

Lahore Qalandars 189-4, 19.2 overs (Fakhar Zaman 83, Ben Dunk 57 not out, David Wiese 31 not out)

Player-of-the-match – Shaheen Shah Afridi (Lahore Qalandars)

My take on the match,

Fantastic match but neeed to say,
Bad:
Captaincy, pathetic from both captain, 1st Sohail Akhter bad catch drop & then when Afridi was bowling so well why hi didn't give him another over. When sharjeel was hitting he should have gone with Hafeez instead of patel, Why he waited for last overs to bring back Shaheen.
Imad Captaincy, Should have given Aamir 1 more over in power play or should bring him back early to break the partnership, he himself could have bowled in power play the rule he does for pak.

Good: Seeing Aamir & shaheen bowl, Should be in pak team also fakher & sharjeel needs to be in 15th player, Shajeel to loose wait asap to make playing eleven.

My pak eleven on current form is:
Shajeel
Fakher
Baber
Hafeez
Rizwan
Haider
Faheem/Imad (depend on conditions)
Shadab/Qadir (depend on conditions)
Hassan ali / Haris rauf / hasnain (rotate)
Aamir
Shaheen

Also need to keep one more finisher like Malik & maybe Asif in 15.
