What's the PSL clause for quitting from the middle of the tournament

Lahore Qalanders should desolve this useless team and let some professionals run it...

They should get rid of McCullum and Aaqib first. Sack them all. Build a new team from scratch.

They have been rebuilding team after every PSL tournament.

That's what happen when all sfirashi play in the same team

Liquidate the franchise, then start over, rename the team, buy new players, start a YouTube channel called LahoreFanTV for the interaction with fans.

Aaqib Javed's interview during the first innings gave a great insight into how clueless this team's management is.

Don't worry Karachi lost their first three last year too. LQ will make the playoffs imo.

Bring in players that are actually from Lahore, surely they can't do any worst than these guys. If i m not wrong, both Lahore Blues and Whites reached the final of national T20 Cup.

What a mess

I think they should end the Narine experiment.

Play Ramdin or Aga Salman at 3, with the instruction to bat through the innings

What did he say?

He said that they're trying different combinations.

They tried 6 bowlers because you don't know how the emerging player will do etc. so basically extra bowler as backup.

Said that Ramdin can play spin well. Thinks that the combination today is the right one.

Said that their players are all aggressive (whose fault is that??? he mentioned loss of Lynn and Matthews but Lynn isn't a stabiliser and Matthews was a supplementary pick).

He said that they were depending on Fakhar to finish matches, said I spoke to Fakhar and told him to learn to finish matches, not just give a good start. They kept him at 3 to finish games (???).

He said we started with UA as WK but his real value is in the field and bowlers were uncomfortable with part-time keeper.

Why the hell did they select someone like Gulraiz Sadaf with a List A SR of 71 when they had Umair Masood available??? Why didn't they select someone like Malan (who is still available as far as I know) to replace Lynn? They only got Ramdin as cover for Fizz but then bizarrely decided to call him up early to cover for Lynn.

These two were the most eye opening for me when I was watching it live..... Asking Fakhar to finish games

Umar Akmal is needed in the field  (maybe he doesn't realize that junior is fat and unfit and is borderline liability in the field)

UA is OK in the field despite his water issues and he has always been one of the best outfield catchers. But what on earth made them pick Gulraiz Sadaf who doesn't even get picked for List A tournaments?

The Fakhar bit is just...

He is basically saying that we didn't sign any good batsmen so we're putting everything on Fakhar now.

We lost by playing very stupid cricket: Aqib slams Qalandars

Criticizing Lahore Qalandars for their performance on Monday night, head coach Aqib Javed said his team lost the match against Karachi Kings by playing ‘very stupid cricket’.

The Qalandars are in hot water as they have lost all three matches that they have played in Pakistan Super League (PSL) this season.

Chasing a respectable total of 160, the Qalandars were bowled out on 132 thanks to the brilliant spell by veteran Shahid Afridi and some special fielding efforts by the Kings.

In an interview after the disappointing lost, Aqib said, “With only 160 runs to chase, one can only lose the match with utmost effort or by playing very stupid cricket. Common sense is very important, no matter how good your game plan, the individual presence of mind on the pitch makes the difference against opponents when it comes to execution. When singles, doubles are needed, you can’t go to hit sixes.”

Expressing his disappointment, the former pacer of Pakistan said that the opening partnership between Fakhar Zaman and Brendon McCullum made the game ‘simple’ for the team.

“We had to play six in an over…how easier than that can you get?” he said. “Batsmen made choices that were not necessary. Game awareness was the factor we were lacking.”

Speaking about Umar Akmal, he said, “I will ask Umar what was his batting plan. Told him to go long and take the game forward but on the crease, if you don’t go and play in that style then there is something wrong.”

Javed said that the high-risk shots his middle-order attempted were appropriate if the team needed 12 runs per over, not when the chase was of six in an over. “One has to play like how Denesh Ramdin and Agha Salman played. You have to do placing, you have to take singles.”

The head coach said that Qalandars can’t wait for other teams to do worst bowling and batting so that they can win the rest of the matches of the tournament.

They are more of LOL Qalandars rather than Lahore Qalandars....
This is disappointing, they should simply fire all the coaching staff and get some professionals in there

Fakhar, Akhtar, Yamin, Agha, Shaheen, these guys should hand in transfer request when this season nears the end.

LQ should sign Misbah, Shafiq, Rahat, Anwar, Zulfiqar and make Azhar captain.

God this was a very bad performace from LQ. There all hitters, I know they have had bad luck with Chris Lynn and Angelo Mathews but they still needed to bring in someone who would have been perfect for there middle order. There top 5 are all hitters in fact so is Sohail Akhtar but he comes in at No.6 and that is technically his role in the team. Denish Ramdin is definitely a good option for the anchor role they need but in the top five only Fakhar is the one that hold up one end. They need a player like Haris Sohail or Fawad Ala, a player who can see out the majority of 20 overs.

Where is Salman Irshad? The heir apparent of Shoeb Akhtar.

Also young Shaheen Afridi hasn't been much of an impact so far

God apart from fitness coach all need to be sacked!

Need to drop 1 hitter for 1 consolidator; I suggest a trade with Quetta; send 1 of your hitter (preferably Umar Akmal) to Quetta for 1 consolidator (preferably Saad Ali); win-win for both Lahore and Quetta; win-win for both Umar Akmal and Saad Ali

Was rooting for Lahore but it seems like they have already booked the last spot. Hopefully somehow they can turn it around by batting sensibly.

Didn't we hear 2 years back this clueless coach/cricketer was touted to replace waqar and the front-runner for the job... what a mess it would have been... PCB saved the team and its future... PSL has done wonders especially exposing blunders like him as equally as they give talented players..

haha Shoaib even said that in an interview. Seems like he really wants to emphasize that he has nothing to do with Lahore's failures, making it seem like if he really was involved things would be different for them. Instead of trying to defend himself he should help them out.

The actual problem that they have is identifying and prioritising the problems and their solutions. Their problem, last year and this year, is their middle order batting. So when they went into the talent hunt program and in the draft, with all the first picks, their priorities should have been to get two or three solid middle order batsmen. Now they are in a situation where they have Raza Hassan and Bilal Asif, two good spinners, alongside Salman Irshad, Mitch McClenaghan and Amir Yamin, among the pacers, warming their benches. Where are the batsmen, nowhere! If they thought that Umar Akmal would hold the middle order together and finish the job for team, then the owners and the team management are even more deluded then initially thought.

I know. But his recent hiring as PCB advisor probably had something to do with him being hired as "mentor/ambassador" for LQ. Regardless if that had anything to do with his hiring or not, Shoaib can only talk the talk.

It shows they still belive that this batting can click.

When your team is struggling with the bat you replace a batsman with a bowler.

I don't think the problem is playing hitters, in a 20 over game you don't need anchor batsmen. The issue is the quality of hitters. The two top order, Fakhar and McCullum batsmen put on 70 plus runs for the 2nd wicket and they are the biggest hitters in the team. Unfortunately following them were Pakistan 3rd rate hitters who don't have any cricket brains whatsoever.

The Lahore Qalandars management working extremely hard to become the "dumbest" brain in the history of t20 leagues.

Fakhar was doing a great role supporting Baz but as soon as he got out, the game was done for Lahore. Umar Akmal drank too much water, Sohail Akhtar played an awful shot, Denish and Agha had brought some stability but the game was done then. I agree the Umar Akmal and Ramdin in your middle order are good enough to challenge for the trophy

Kyle Abbott isn't a bad player for any team to bring in. In fact I was very surprised that no team brought him in during the draft. BUT LQ need a batsman in the middle. With Baz opening with Narine followed with Fakhar coming at three is okay but they need a Colin Ingram and Rossouw who can accelerate when needed but can support the top order.

Never seen Sohail Akhtar before, but he looked like a poor man's version of Sohaib Maqsood - who himself isn't good enough. If he's considered one of their better middle order batsman then no wonder they are struggling.

Sohail Akhtar has been a decent hitter in T20 domestic tournament. Was surprised he was brought in. Specially since they already have Aamir Yamin. Sohaib Maqsood had a pretty good domestic season under his belt but do far has struggled in the PSL.

Abbott isn't a bad player but he's not needed for LQ . The decision making is aboslultey baffling.

Seems like nothing is going right for Lahore Qalandars this season.

Instead of dropping the good for nothing Akmal they promote him as an opener.

Worst think thank ever.

New and fresh players like Agha Salman and Sohail Akhtar are the only things to look forward to in the Lahore team. To some extent Fakhar Zaman too.

awful. playing specialist keeper Ramdin over Delport when Lahore already has few wkeeping options and just look at their lower order. awful planning by Lahore thick tank esp Aqib and you wonder why they collapse. Their lower order consists of Ramdin,Sohail Khan,Yasir,Irshad,Mustafiz...looool

We should delete this franchise and start a new one up completely.

Cursed i tell you! Cursed!!

Can we change the name at least to end the black spell on this side?

Do you guys have a name suggestion?

Lahore Lions? Lahore lights? Lahore Legends?

Although Lahore laugh-stocks would be more suitable under these circumstances.

Lahore Blunders Again.

These collapses are insane. They make hard work of even routine chases. Change in coach and batting unit needed.

Abbott is a fantastic replacement, he will do a decent job but am not sure LQ can recover from this awful start now. 6 in 6 is a tough ask

Misbah, the defensive captain, punking PakPassion's darling, an "aggressive" captain. Amazing stuff.

The lower order is the problem. The first 3/4 batters should be Baz, Agha and Fakhar. Now having someone like Ramdin at No.4 isn't bad, the problem is that after him there not good enough. Umar Akmal is clueless, Sohail Akhtar & Narine are hitters who just like to smack the ball to all parts. The bowlers aren't good enough batters either. Abbott is okay with the bat and much better than the option they have right now. But Yasir is hit or miss, Sohail is a hitter who just hits and the rest are capable batters. As funny as this sounds they need to reorganise for next year and hope to god they get some good T20 players in the draft for next year. Also getting rid of the coaching staff isn't a bad idea either, in fact its a brilliant idea.

Tomorrow match. They should replace useless akmal with yamin.
Now that LQ have sohail akhtar and agha salman, they don't need a burden on their lineup in the shape of failure akmal. Yamin plays way better than umar, infact every sungle player in LQ team plays better than umar.
