What's new

Lahore Qalandars (219/6) convincingly defeat Quetta Gladiators (140) by 79 runs in match 4 of PSL X

So now Shafique making strong case for number 3

He looks very good here

Surely Babar needs to bat at 3 to give him competition because we know he ain’t doing Jack for Pakistan as an opener.
I don't get Shafique, in SA and NZ he looked like a deer caught in headlights and here he is playing so beautifully. Which one will show up if Pakistan select him as one down for their T20 World Cup team?

At the PSL level, Abdullah has the confidence to play aggressively and go after his shot.

At the international level, we see a much more timid approach because his selection has been so up & down. A couple of bad games at PSL still means Lahore will back him in their selection. That's the type of confidence PCB management needs to in-still in him at the international level.

He’s not an opener clearly

In SA, NZ, Aus, Eng all of them look like that but once they're in their backyard they are the next coming of Viv Richards.

Management sucks in Pakistan Cricket.

Here in franchise Cricket the owners install proper management and everyone is held accountable at the end.

He looks like a new batter

maybe a bit of an unpopular opinion, but Saud is also looking like a contender for #3 or #4 for Pak as well ....

58/1 at the end of powerplay. Good start for LQ. They need to post 200+ to have a chance of winning this match on this wicket.

He is a domestic bully.

Abdullah Shafique has looked like the only Pakistani batsman who can bat at an above par strike rate.

Early days but only he's been matching the foreign batsmen.

Perhaps this will be his best format since his strike rotation and issues playing movement can be hidden.

Conditions in NZ were pretty tough. I have never seen NZ wickets with this much pace, bounce, sideways movement before

in this form Shafique deserves to be in the Paskistan team but I am just afraid about his recent international performances

The biggest issue is all of these players are only good in the top order. Saim, Fakhar, Haris, Nawaz, Saud, Abdullah etc

Pakistan need to figure out the middle/lower order issue

quality of the tournament isn't that great even the likes of azam khan, usman khan, babar and rizwan looked like world beaters when they play international vs real bowlers they are like timid kittens

Abdullah shafique is playing proper cricketing shots. Can't understand Why he failed in national team

International bowlers have better bowling iqs and the discipline to bowl to their fields. Abdullah in international cricket is also a nervous starter and needs atleast two overs before he gets going.

He needs to drop down to middle order will be a massive upgrade over rubbish like Tayyab. Abdullah clearly doesn't know where his off stump is. Will make a decent no 4.

The answer is simple. NZ and SA pitches are far more difficult to play and he quality of bowling is better than psl

Has there been any testing to confirm if Tariq bowling action is even legal? If so, I think he genuinely merits a consideration for T20 selection. Nobody has been able to pick him and his line/length consistency is quite good.

When the ball moves a bit he struggles
bat-pad gap is big
and sometimes his front foot is too slow

Standard NZ conditions

NZ conditions in the past didn't have this much pace, bounce before. Like I have seen highlights of our tours in the 90s and you don't see our batters being rushed for pace, bounce. It was almost like touring England and the reason why our team found it easy to tour New Zealand in comparison to Australia

He was suspect, but cleared after tests last year

Didn’t stop NZ from scoring 200+ easily

Can anyone tell me why pakistan batters can't start like this in national team.why are their minds blocked

Yes. He was cleared.

That's an incredibly soft dismissal by Abdullah there. Shame because he was going so well tonight.

1) PSL bowling Quality is sub-par
2) PCT is toxic, whereas franchise culture is a lot healther

I still maintain our bowlers are the reason why our tour was so poor and disastrous. They did not have a single good game collectively in the series and they failed to exploit the NZ conditions. They provided no cushion to our weak struggling batting line up.

We all know this bro. Don't know why you saying this. They have the most explosive batting line up. It is unfortunate they haven't fired like that
But they did fire yesterday. Unbelievable stuff from abhishek last night

Usman Khan was the top scorer in the PSL last year, and the year before that, Azam Khan had a solid run — but international cricket is a whole different ball game

Significantly taller and quicker NZ bowlers nowadays.

Also, the ODIs were day games so there was no dew to make the pitch skiddy .

Imagine getting a concussion test for just....tripping

You're mistaking it your friend above is saying so.

I'm not here advocating this either that these teams should bat like that because I know they can't.

Crowd looks to be improving but still far away from a full house.
