Anyone have been there, what type of place it is?
Why didn't Pakistan in 1947 claim it , as their territory since it's a Muslim majority?
There Culture is bit of the mixture of India Nepal and Pakistan.

I have read that the Pakistani Navy Vessels went to capture the Island but the Indian flag was already flying high.

Surprising that it is a Muslim majority Island of India.

The corals are in good shape, though not as good as the ones off Havelock in the Andaman islands.

I recommend flying into there, setting aside at least three days for dives, and take the cruise back once done - works best.

There Culture is bit of the mixture of India Nepal and Pakistan.

The people of Lakshadweep are primarily Malayalam speaking Muslims who have no similarity in culture either with Pakistan or Nepal.

Their culture is closest to that of the Malayalis in the Indian state of Kerala.

Meh we wouldn't have held onto lol. Maldives is another south asian muslim country that we didn't annex.

Maldives had a better chance of joining Pakistan than Lakshadweep. They are Sinhalese and Buddhists and converted to islam when their Buddhist king converted to Islam. Those Islands are to the further southwest of Srilanka and a bit far from India.

Lakshadweep were Hindu Islands before Arab missionaries showed up. They were part of Chola Dynasty of South India. Lakshadweep is too close to India too and they are Malayalees.

People of both Lakshadweep and Maldives look exactly like any South Indian. They are ethnic South Indians and have nothing in common with Pak other than religion.

Lol, Lakshadweep Muslims are Mappilahs , who chose to stick with India mostly after Independence. AFAIK , they don't speak Urdu, only Malayalam and Arabic.

Yah agree with you but to some extent they have similarities especially in weddings either Pakistanis copying them or it have in Pakistan and Malayalis Muslim culture.
