Anybody watched this series on Netflix? Looks pretty good

Shalini changes her religion after marrying Riz, a Muslim man. They live in a near future where communities in districts are seperated into ghetto-ed areas in accordance to their caste, religion and income. Their daughter Leila, disappears at the age of three and Riz dies. Shalini, two years later tries to find her missing daughter.

Makes no sense to me , it was a novel and basically Hinduism which involved from caste based into somewhat inter caste marriages but future would be again would be caste religion based? If anything its clearly reducing.

The idea of a pseudo liberal mind to question only majority religion in their countries sounds biased, even if its to counter conservatives of their country.

Future dystopian films typically feature Zombie apocalypses and alien invasions, and you are claiming this doesn’t make sense to you?

We can open a separate thread about the “political” part of the discussion but this is just regarding the fictional tv series, key word being “fiction”.. hope this won’t delve into a political argument.

Those are for entertainment, Im sure its not some social commentary, this is my personal opinion thats all, also if you notice most dystopian movies nowadays are funny and mocking the concept as such.. maybe its just me I don’t like pretentious series taking themselves seriously.

Ill post the review after i Finish the entire series.. just disappointed with the premise thats all

It’s based on a novel by an indian author and it won critical acclaim.

Yes.. finished first 3 , Huma is slightly improved from first episode but still leaves a lot to be desired, my assumption here is segregation was done to promote peace between different communities etc esp after Taj Mahal demolition, another assumption Im making here is the author has taken inspiration from Tagore's speech about caste system.

On the show its clear taken on RSS which Im
All for because of my bias against them.. but it has a massive political undertone similar to Sacred games..even the intro song

Just enjoy the show, man. Stop worrying about what will people think about Indians or the negative connotations about Indians. Who cares?

I don’t care honestly... sacred games was great and I hope so is this..

What? Its not against India man.. just against right wing parties..i just feel they could had shown much more..on future and its not entertaining..

Its very similar to the book as well a fine balance which was against authoritarian govn.

I am all for anti right wing.. or anti left wing.. I prefer middle of the road.. moderation..

Any sort of extremism should be Pooh poohed..

Why does an Indian show have a middle eastern name? I thought they were proud of their culture.

I started seeing it, after 30 minutes could not see it anymore, boring . But, its just me.

My understanding is that the hitler inspired RSS devotees are upset about this serial

Disappointed with the end.. a very Deepa Mehta kind of film , she made it look like an art series with only good cinematography and no soul..

This is looking like an indian version of Handmaid's tale and 1984 mashed together. I'm gonna watch and review.

Exactly my thoughts when I saw the synopsis. :)
Haven’t gotten around to it yet, but I am really interested.
