Pakistan could have easily won Test Series against New Zealand few months earlier if our batsmen had displayed same kind of grit, determination and putting bodies on the line to defend their wickets and score runs.

Players like Kraig Braithwaite, Darren Bravo, Jason Holder have less experience than Azhar Ali and Asad Shafique. However the manner in which this West Indian batting line up has managed to keep England at bay in 2nd Test at Antigua, is certainly poetry in motion. I am sure on that wicket in Antigua, Pakistan would have folded for under 175.

What lessons can be learned looking at this young West Indian team.
I think they are playing with excellent combination. 2 gritty test type players (bravo and brathwaite). 2 stylist aggressive players ( heytmar, campbell)

2 All rounders (Chase and Holder) one of them usually clicks in batting.

A reliable gritty wicket-keeper who scored a 100 in last test (unlike ours).

1 Genuine 150 KM Speed fast bowler who rattles opposition and he certainly rattled Joe Root.

1 Wicket taker fast bowler, Roach is not as fast as Gabriel but he takes more wickets and his line/lengths are better.

Alzarri Joseph is not that good but is handy along side Jason Holder who is 6 foot 8 and extracts bounce from pitch very well.

Chase is like Moeen Ali. Can take wickets on given day.

Not a bad combination at all.

Pakistan lacks genuine 150 KM fast bowler to start with. So we do not intimidate opposition. Plus Asad and Azhar are no Kraig Brathwaite and Darren Bravo.

These 2 players actually played v well against Pakistan in 2016 series.

West Indies have defied all odds because there was determination to "grit it out".

Pride in West Indies is indeed, rare, to see nowadays, but pleasantly surprised to see them "turning it on".

Pakistan has neither the "determination to grit it out" nor "the pride of playing for Pakistan". Hence to them, its just another match and the results can be seen comprehensively since Misbah left.

True

If they can maintain this kind of resilient batting it is a good thing for West Indies cricket, but the batsmen they have are just as capable of pressing the self-destruct button just like their Pakistani counterparts. I am expecting a 80 all out and loss by an innings from the Windies at some point against England in this test series.

Excellent thread. Unfortunately our players have no pride and think they are doing us a favour playing for Pakistan. Also the lack of a proper fast bowler is killing us.

WI have been investing on youngsters under a young captain, eyeing the future. Pakistan keep playing oldies and no plan for future and no trust on youngsters, unless he is someone's nephew.

The tailenders are showing grit too whereas our tail are a bunch of cowards.

It all goes back to Younus retiring prematurely (selfishly) he should’ve stayed on & then pcb messed up by not getting Fawad in & most importantly Azhar & Asad chocked epically, especially Azhar as he is meant to do what Bravo is going vs the poms just now
