What's new

Let's be honest: Every Pakistan coach gets sacked because Umar Akmal is excluded

He has faced two deliveries in the whole series.

His output is rubbish, but still, it’s not much of a sample size, is it?

Lolwut.

I wish I'd tried that logic on my old man back in the day. Hey Dad? I got a zero, literally zero, out of hundred on the only two exams I took but that's not much of a sample size, it is now daddy-O?.

You know what on second thoughts forget it, he'd have whupped my backside raw.

Who is looking forward to another first ball duck for Umar Akmal? I hope Misbah plays him just for that tomorrow, so we can have a real laugh and destroy this noob's career once and for all.

Enough is enough.

Just a reminder:

Of all Pakistan Test batsmen outside Asia since 2007:

1. Umar Akmal scored more than 40 most frequently.

2. Umar Akmal scored less than 20 the least frequently.

And yes, that includes sacred cows like Younis Khan, Misbah and Azhar Ali. Umar Akmal outperformed all of them.

lmao Junaids unconditional support for the most overrated ,overhyped & self centred player in our history , I would take Fawad Alam in ALL formats ahead of this useless waste of space .. hope he plays the 3rd t20 & completes a hat trick of ducks .. that would be the final nail in the coffin

Scoring more than 40 doesn’t win you Tests. Apart from his debut Test, Umar consistently failed to convert his starts into substantial scores, clearly indicating that he lacked the temperament to score big.

A batsman who maintains an average of 50 by scoring exactly 50 runs every innings is not a great Test batsman.

He averages 35 in tests and 34 in ODIs and his strike rate isn't even that good, how is that world class????????????????????????????????????????

He didn't do well in any format and he's played more than 220 matches for Pakistan. Is that too small of a sample size, will you be convinced he is useless after 500 matches?

Masterclass going on from Junaids. He is still baiting PPers, that is why he is the undisputed king of PP. freelance_cricketer - Watch and learn from the master himself.

I’m unable to figure out if he is serious lol but he has backed UA forever now lol

I think he has mixed the lines between reality and trolling so much that he himself doesn't know what's trolling and what's his actual opinion. He's like those wrestlers who take their gimmicks so seriously they become their gimmick in reality.

Since this is a downgraded Lankan team, the obvious question from Junaids should have been, "Do losses against SriLanka even count?" :)

Hope this is the end of road for Akmal

Early in his Test career, Mark Waugh has the nickname Audi due to his return of 0 0 0 0.

Dave Warner just averaged less than 10 in a five Test series.

It’s a rubbish comeback so far, but you can’t throw out a player based on two deliveries!

I mean you can't say anything about Rahat Ali or Muhammad Irfan's batting as they haven't faced much either.

True.

But Umar Akmal plays First Class Cricket in the same team as Salman Butt and Azhar Ali.

And in the one match before he was called up for national duty he looked better than both of them.

Not the best standard to be honest. Also, there is a little correction - Butt didn't play in the game Umar played, and since then both Butt, Azhar scored over 300 runs, despite Azhar being in horrible touch for last 1+ year, which raises a question mark on the batting stats of the QeA this year - even Asif Ali has a hundred in his only game, which UAkmal didn't, therefore I feel you have to sell QeA batting performance less.

I saw part of 2nd T20 and did watch his LBW - the guy was a bunny of armer (from SLAO spin), and he was bamboozled by an innocent googly. Absolute clueless, he didn't even figure out that the ball struck his pad first (everyone knew he was plumb without bat-pad) - and this is in T20, his strongest suit.

Regarding most numbers of "40 outside Asia" benchmark, I have to agree Umar Akmal is better than Javed Miandad and very close to Donald Bradman, so you have a point indeed.

His batting has really regressed to tail ender level now. Sadly he took his eye of the ball park

Umar Akmal was never a good player of spin btw.

Even if somehow he magically improved his temperament and concentration which would allow him to play longer innings, Junior never had the skill to play patient cricket on a pitch offering assistance to spinners.

And as I mentioned, more than technical ability, his major issue and always was temperament and lack of concentration ability. I just cannot back him to get stuck in and play a long hand.

He was also top 3 last year in FC and the highest in OD comp last year, plus did very well in the PSL last year as well.

Started very well this year in FC is well, so he really is in top form.

misbah brought him back and should have backed him by keeping him at no. 3 for the 2nd T20.

He has hit 28 and he truly has hit his prime years now, as exhibited by domestic performances.

I can guarantee, he will score runs for fun in the upcoming T20 comp.

I don’t think he is as useless as he is showing. But Junaids faith in him is hilarious.

Maybe I've missed it but why isn't anyone discussing about Akmal's weight? He looks like that 8 months pregnant Aunty on the field. With such fitness, he shouldn't be anywhere near the team.
