What's new

Life after Misbah... No Misbah: Same Result ...

You don't get it, Doc. Our batsmen are all ABdV-esque brilliant geniuses with a lot of talent and amazing TALENT and are very TALENTED. It is defensive captains like Misbah and Azhar that are holding them back, forcing them to play badly and slowly so that they become useless and don't live up to their amazing potential. Other teams are JEALOUS of our talent but we can't make the most of it due to a defensive mindset which leads them to bat badly.

Ok, first thoughts:

On a more serious note, I would be more disappointed with our bowling today than the batting. The difference between the teams were the spinners.

Shakib is an excellent LOI spinner, as good as Ajmal WAS (isn't any more based on an initial impression) while Arafat Sunny bowled decently despite chucking. We are always more reliant on our bowling and really should not be conceding 300+ because it is simply not possible for us to chase that, 97 times out of 100.

I thought the batting was decent today. Azhar did FAR better than expected, and while Haris seemed uncomfortable and faced a few too many dots, made a decent score. He is still very new on the ODI scene and should improve insha'Allah.

Rizwan was a revelation, but for anyone who's been following domestics, it wasn't entirely unexpected since he seems to be a good chaser. Could really have used some of Professor's minnow bashing here.

Batting order could've been better. But overall, considering that the top 7 barring Prof had played a combined 105 ODIs prior to this, it was OK.

Don't want to see Saad Nasim in the team again. He tried hard to emulate the usual contribution we get from our #7 (Lala) which was a 0, and that's appreciated but something slightly better would be nice.

:91::91::91: Great post.

U should watch cricket again.. hafeez and haris can up the anti at any time, with proper cricketing shots.. even thought hafeez is not a good player of swing bowling but he is a dynamic player who can play well.. today his innings was missing, he is an FTB...

Hafeez can to some extent against weaker oppositions but haris doesnt have it in him. He is ine dimensional and looks ugly when trying to hit

he is over weight cant play anything short on his body, he will be another nasir jamshed within a year

Misbah or no Misbah we would not have been able to win yesterdays game as it was lost in the field and bad bowling. Chasing 330 is by no way an easy task and letting a team score 329 when they were 67 for 2 after 20 over takes some doing.

I guess Azhar Ali really needs a better bowling all rounder to fill Afridis boots. Moreover the management needs to show more trust in Fawad Alam the bowler as he definitely has the most amount of experience amongst all the part timers and was bowling regularly in domestic cricket last season.

I would like to Bump my post.

Pakistan were struggling at 77-5 and played the most of their innings at minimum of 3 and max of 4.7 per over.

Ended up at 238.

I thought with the departure of Misbah , we were suddenly going to play uninhibited cricket and reach new heights because Misbah was asking them to play slow.

Yet, we still played slow and lost 5 wickets for 77.

Just saying...

misbah was using telepathy and teekinesis with the help of a medium - its still his fault.

Wow so instead of admiting he has a flaw. You give me a even lamer excuse? If a captain has no faith in his batsmen. Then why does he have them in his side to begin with? Why doesn't he just bat by himself with a runner? You don't build a team by burdening yourself with so much responsiblity.

yes the thing you seem to be failing to grasp is that any player can only really bat himself. he cant project himself into other players and bat for them. in addition, misbah was the captain, he wasnt the chief selector. its no surprise that you completely ignore the proof that sky in fact provided for all the thick anti-misbah commentators who blamed him for his strike rate. thats unequivocal proof that he batted slowly because the people around him failed. when they didnt, he batted at an acceptable pace. its black and white. but dont expect facts to get in the way of your opinion.

If they were poor batsmen then he should have batted up the order. That way he would have no pressure to deal with from the start.

The selectors pick the players for you. But in the end you make the most of what you have.

i dont know if i agree that him batting up the order would have fixed anything. but anyway, all in the past now.

Misbah haters, are you happy now?

Hilarious how so many haters blamed him for everything wrong with the team. What now? Whom will you blame? You certainly can't blame Misbah, or do you plan to do so?

Where's W63L35? Any more statistics chart that you've got in your kitty?

We will soon witness the difference in the test series. Will comfortably win the series under Misbah.

Don't worry they will still find a way to put all this on Misbah!

Exactly. Like the Bible says, "As you reap, so shall you sow".

Maybe Pak cricket is now sowing what Misbah had reaped.

BTW, where's the stats genius W63L35?

I am not a Misbah hater but like Azhar Ali, he was too slow........it is partly his fault the
way the team plays slow and scared. Waqar has equal responsibility.

Sorry, got it wrong :D

"As you sow, so shall you reap"

What are you talking about?

If tomorrow a meteor hits earth, Misbah will be responsible for it one way or the other.

We are pants with or without Misbah, but some people just don't get it.

Misbah was the only batsman who stood up when Pak batting collapsed (which was most of the times). I'm kinda glad he retired from ODI cricket, simply because I was fed up of his haters blaming him for everything wrong with the team.

I'm still waiting for W63L35 to come up with a theory to blame Misbah for the defeat of Pak in this series :))

Two years later and people are still complaining about tuk tuk and a defensive approach.

Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose

Azhar did worse, Sarfraz is doing worse.

But still, #blameMisbah . He had even more pathetic players tbh.

Anyway, looking back, his tenure wasn't perfect and he didn't have the acumen for the modern game.

BUT - he was still tactically better and knew how to handle pressure.

What people don't realize it Misbah put Pakistan batting culture at least 10 years behind the rest of the world. The scores of 230 were norm during his days and Misbah used to defend his 80 balls 40s. The tuk tuks phenomena was introduced by Misbah himself.

at least our batting standards are improving. From average 230 team to hitting 260-300 is a huge improvement.

We are still the 230 average team. The rare 260-300 scores were happening in misbah's era also. check SL series 2013 & many others.

Now that Misbah has gone for two years, who will you hate for the team's shortcomings?
