Hasan Ali speaking after the day's play today at Lord's.

We had our plans and we just focussed on them

The pitch was fresh so I was just focussed on bowling full and straight

We had a long meeting where Azhar Mahmood told us to bowl straight and at a difficult and full length for the batsmen and that's why we got help from the pitch and were successful

There was no need to bowl bouncers because we were getting help from bowling straight and pitching the ball up. It would have made no sense to bowl bouncers

Coming here 1 month early ahead of the Champions Trophy was a big help and we are used to the conditions. It was a good thing for us.

Yes I like the Dukes ball better than the Kookuburra ball

Hasan Ali at a press conference:

"When the match started, we saw the pitch had a bit of moisture so the plan was to bowl full and straight mostly"

"It was decided in the morning that I'd play after testing my batting and fielding as well"

"The way the bowlers bowled is there for all to see but after that, the fielders also did well, holding onto catches and the ground fielding was also very good"

"It's a 5 day match, the wicket will be rolled again tomorrow so we'll see what it's like. The moisture was almost gone in the latter stages so we'll see what it's like tomorrow"

"Real cricket is Test cricket, Test cricket shows what type of player you are. Like I became #1 in ODIs, I want to perform in the same way for my team in Tests and become #1 in this too"

"England have a good batting lineup, we just tried to bowl full"

"Abbas bhai is a very good bowler, he bowls at the same spot and moves the ball both ways, my role is also to bowl in an attacking manner and to take wickets for the team"

"Pakistan's fast-bowling has always been good but when we play in the subcontinent, the conditions are dry so we reply on the spinners. When we play outside in England, Australia or NZ then you need fast bowlers. Mickey Arthur gave us a lot of confidence"

"My focus was on taking wickets as soon as possible for my team"

"I've been coming to England for 3 years, my first A tour was here, then the Champions Trophy and now this tour so I am quite used to the conditions"

"There was no special plan to Root, the plan was to bowl full and straight"

"Lord's is the home of cricket and we did well last time and inshaAllah we'll try to win the game. We are aware of the slope and try to use it to our advantage"

"Our batsmen look to be in really good form so insha'Allah we'll try to make 300+ and get them out cheaply once again"

Loved his celebration today - this is what a cricketer should be - totally committed and with an attitude which will be an envy for many

Bowled brilliantly today but Abbas should be the Man of the Day. Amir's delivery to get rid of Cook was an absolute beauty.

That’s the mentality we need. Typical Pakistani ‘Waqar/wasim’ way of bowling. Bowl it full at pace, you might go for a few but that’s the wicket taking length

Abbas & Hassan done well Aamir was unlucky not to get Cook out cheaply & Faheem looked dangerous too .. with Mir ,Junaid & the likes of young Shaheen waiting.: wow what a GR8 choice we have in attack

Hasan can become nr 1 if he takes his fitness seriously and doesn't play in too many leagues.

He should even skip a few IT20's here and there as we got some young replacements now. Also the fans need to understand that a fast bowler can not play every other game otherwise he will be out for a long time.

Good and fast Hasan Ali - impressing all.
