Mohammad Zahid

Shoaib Akhtar

Ruman Raees

Haris Sohail

and now Hasan Ali

Can someone complain to the top medical watch dog against these doctors on the PCB payroll? I wish there was a fitness watch dog in Pakistan where one could complain about the fitness trainers at the PCB? How many cricketers are going to suffer because of the incompetency of these individuals

Many others have had to go to the UK for treatment due to the incompetence of PCB medical staff:

Azhar Ali
Hammad Azam

Plenty more.

Can you really blame PCB for players not listening to them?

Recently, Hardik Pandya refused to follow BCCI’s injury recovery guidelines.

I think players need to be more responsible for their injuries. You can’t really blame PCB for everything.

One player is an exception. When you have a huge laundry list of players with grievances then it shows a problematic pattern

The list is too long

Australian players get injured as well but they don't suddenly become usless after an injury. Look at Junaid Khan pre and post injury

Another case

Muhammad Abbas used to bowl around 130-132 kph, occasionally upto 135 kph. Since his shoulder injury he bowls as quck as Ganguly. He isn't simply that good enough anymore.

The worrying thing is that these injuries take much longer than they should to heal.

Haris Sohail sent for an operation he didn't need.

Others coming to UK paying their own expenses to save their career.

What a mess.

Saqlain Mushtaq, Shoaib Malik and Shabir Ahmed as well to add to the ones already mentioned in the thread.

In India Jaspreet Bumrah was treated for his back injury by the setup of IPL franchise MI, maybe PSL teams need to come into this as well as PCB’s medical panel has rarely treated any serious injury with 100% success. :najam

It's clear that there is a pattern of medical mismanagement with these players' injuries.

From an accountability perspective it's all well and good discussing it in such forums.

However, why has the free press not called the PCB up on this, through questions at press conference, interviews etc.

The more this issue gets amplified in the public sphere, the sooner it'll get addressed InshAllah

Most players in Pakistan are told to go overseas and sort out their injuries themselves.

Pay for your own travel, your own medical expenses, accommodation etc.

It really is a farcical situation.

Seems that Dr. Sohail Saleem - PCB's top doc - has resigned in the wake of the PSL 6 fiasco.

As per PCB spokesman:

Dr Sohail has offered to step down, which will be considered by the Chairman/CEO in due course.

This is the guy who came up with the 3 day quarantine.

How he has survived at PCB for so long is incredible.

The worrying thing though is that this guy is supposed to be the best at his job in Pakistan.

More embarrassment for the PCB.

Pakistan’s leg-spinner Zahid Mehmood has been ruled out of the upcoming T20I series against Zimbabwe after exposure to extreme heat during the ongoing training camp in Lahore.

He was immediately provided treatment, which improved Zahid’s condition, but his departure has been delayed as a precaution. He will now travel to Zimbabwe, with the Test squad, on April 21 instead of tomorrow.

Earlier, the wrist spinner had been named as Shadab Khan’s replacement for the three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe, which will be played from April 21-25 in Harare.

Pakistan leg-spinner Shadab had been ruled out of the ongoing South Africa tour and upcoming tour of Zimbabwe after suffering an injury during the second ODI against the Proteas on Sunday.

Shadab, who has suffered an injury on his left toe, will undergo a four-week rehab.

In 2021 a professional athlete playing for his country is ruled out due to exposure to extreme heat. We must have Einstein and Newton looking after and managing these players.

It is a clownshow all the way from those managing them to the people making these diagnoses.

Some 'doctors' in Pakistan say the first thing that comes into their heads so who really knows what's happened to Zahid.

Good to hear that Zahid Mehmood is ok.

Hope this is looked into as something has gone badly wrong here.

The head of the medical department has been let go. A much needed overhaul of the PCB medical panel and procedures is coming through consultation of the ECB.
