This is what the PCB release said today - Read this and weep.

This is what our best talents are subjected to, the person who was fired by Wasim Khan for his mishandling of the COVID epidemic cases during PSL but then magically reinstated by Zaka Ashraf.

==

After a thorough examination of the case history, including all MRI, ultrasound, and related reports, interviews with members of the PCB Medical and Sports Sciences Department, Ihsanullah and consultations with renowned surgeons and specialists, including Prof. Adam Watts (Consultant Hand, Elbow & Upper Limb Surgeon), Mr Javed Mughal (Director and Lead Physiotherapist, Rainham Physiotherapy Centre), and Dr Mohammad Waseem (Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon, Shoulder & Elbow Specialist), the committee has recommended the following:

“Ihsanullah should continue with aggressive physiotherapy and rehabilitation of right elbow and shoulder. Surgery may be the last option if he does not recover in six to 12 months.”

In addition to recommending the treatment plan, the Medical Committee has also identified and highlighted delays in the diagnosis of Ihsanullah’s injury and inappropriate prescription of treatment, as well as non-compliance by the fast bowler with the prescribed rehabilitation plan.

The independent three-member Medical Committee’s conclusion:

“The committee concludes that Ihsanullah’s condition of right elbow pain was not addressed, treated and operated appropriately. There was a delay in reaching the clinical diagnoses and investigations. He did not receive a formal rehabilitation process as required by his condition.

“His surgery was planned hurriedly without any specialist review and preoperative assessment.

“The surgeon recommended by Director of Medical and Sports Sciences was inappropriate, lacking the academics and experience in the field.

“Postoperatively, Mr Ihsanullah was not fully compliant to the rehabilitation protocols as alleged by the PCB officials. He continues to have medial elbow pain along with shoulder dyskinesia. He has significant elbow stiffness for which surgery is not advised currently as per advice of national and international appropriate experts in the specialty shoulder and elbow.

“However, we strongly believe that in view of the talent possessed by Ihsanullah, he be physically assessed on his arrival to Pakistan whereby an appropriate rehabilitation plan be developed in a multidisciplinary fashion, including consideration of hydrodilation and the same be implemented to provide the best chance to the player to live up to his potential again.”

Furthermore, the Medical Committee also conducted reviews on the cases of Arshad Iqbal, Zeeshan Zameer, and women’s cricketer Shawal Zulfikar.

Regarding Arshad, the committee recommended a two-month rehabilitation programme, while for Zeeshan, the committee suggested the bowler undergoes examination by a foot and ankle specialist. As for Shawal, the committee suggested conducting a CT scan of her right shoulder before proposing any further course of action.

Meanwhile, Dr Sohail Saleem, Director of Medical and Sports Sciences, has tendered his resignation, which has been accepted by the PCB.

BTW, not to absolve in any way the people who brough this quack back.

How does someone become a surgeon without expertise? Pathetic, ruined a guys career.

Should be struck off so doesn't practice again.

How on earth did this guy label himself as a surgeon? Did they send ihsanullah to the Halloween store?

These bozos and degenerates think it's funny to ruin someone's career.

He needs to be in jail, misinformation and putting someone in danger, their actual laws for this. Its called negligence or misconduct related to malpractice. Its a crime punishable by jail time. Who's letting this man go Scott free?

Terrible stuff. Zaka Ashraf was always going to be destructive for Pakistan cricket. Nothing that comes from that clan in Sindh is ever going to be beneficial for Pakistan. The government resources are for the taking and for free use for those folks.

Glad to see Mohsin Naqvi’s team doing a proper investigation and i hope this so called quack doctor is permanently black listed. I would hope MN makes a PCB constitutional amendment to ban him so it cannot be reversed by Zaka ashraf types.

I nearly did weep reading this.

They are playing with the futures and livelihoods of these players.

They are also playing with their lives.
I want to go to that surgeon, Shove him in a Halloween box and put him on display next to Micheal myers.

He ruined the career of a guy who can bowl at 150kph pace? Like bro, this is not right. This is wrong and evil.

I hope this surgeon gets his licence revoked and never is allowed to practise again. Ban the university that trained him as well.

I knew it. In fact all passionate and old Cricket fans know how incompetent of a professional Dr. Sohail is.

I was raising the voice the minute he was brought by in in Zaka or Sethi regime. Because he has a history of misdiagnosing and managing players.

Take him to court, sue him for 10 million rupees.

Ihsnaullah better not let this man walk away without facing any kind of penalty.

Well cant blame him.

This is the fault of the legal system. The players and there agents should had taken this guy to court, but because there is a lack of trust in the Pakistani legal/justice system, which is why such appointments get away with it

Bro King Edward medical University is literally the king of medical colleges in Lahore.

No school comes close to it? It's literally a doctors dream, LMDC or Shalimar doesn't even compare?

The doctor had to have faked his degree.

Medical negligence is a problem across Pakistani society.

There was one incident at PIMS in 2022 where a pregnant woman died after being administered an expired dose of an anaesthetic. Education, training provision and regulatory oversight all needs reviewing.

Although Ihsanullah's case thankfully isn't as severe, his career may never be the same. His ability to earn a livelihood has already been affected. Fast bowlers are a special breed and require careful handling. Unfortunately he's not the only victim of PCB's doctors.

Honestly if I was a player I wouldn't trust these guys to treat a hangnail. Gather whatever funds you have and go overseas for treatment.

The guy is obviously well connected. He was fired in 2021 by Ehsan Mani, Wasim Khan for designing a faulty Covid 19 bubble and protocols during the PSL as well as mis managing injuries. He found his way back into the PCB a few years later. Just firing him alone is not good enough, someone should file a complaint against him with the Pakistani Medical Licensing authorities to ensure he doesn't find a job easily again.

There's no accountability if you have contacts and deep pockets. And on top of that the legal system is a comic festival with aggressive trade unions to protect the corrupt.

These so called doctors are therefore living their best lives.

In any other situation, Ihsanullah would be advised to take legal action. They have likely butchered his career due to serious medical negligence.

Pakistan cricket's medical staff has always been the worst in the business.

Sohail Saleem should be jailed, as well as the person who appointed him to this possition

Seems like honorary degrees rather than proper training degrees IMO. American College of Sports Medicine awards Diplomate in American Board of Sports Medicine which you attain after completing a 2 year fellowship there either after Medicine or Orthopedic Surgery Training. People usually apply to attain honorary Membership which allows them to attend conferences abroad with lesser fees etc. Pakistani Doctors do this thing by adding that honorary memberships to their resume and conning the patients into believing that they trained in US. Same thing I would say about his UK and Australian degrees as well.

there are good and bad apples everywhere. the guy probably used his connections to get the high posts without necessary qualifications. MBBS itself isn't really a big deal tbh. Every year 300 people from 1 govt medical graduate. And there are around 25 govt medical colleges in Punjab alone. The no 1 ranking is merely for the merit where the undergrads prefer KE to be their alma mater. It doesn't have any bearing on how the doctor does in those actual 5 years of doing medicine and afterwards. It does provide a good kick start though. But all of the other govt medical colleges have a similar merit as well. the difference in merit back in my days between the top (KE and the bottom govt med school) was around 6-7% only. It's probably lesser now.

Who will advise Ihsanullah

Bechara will be lucky if we don't see him driving a cab in the next 2-3 years time

PCB are the organization tasked with the welfare of cricketers and given that we don't have a players union, Ihsanullah and others will suffer badly

Naseem Shah really dodged a bullet. I'm surpised Sohail Saleem didn't botch his rehab as well.

In Pakistan appointments for top positions are not made on merit. If you have the right connections then you can get the job.Chairmanship of PCB is a political appointment.Competence or experience is not a criteria. You can become prime minister of Pakistan if you polish the boots of the right people.

Incase you guys did not know about this guyl. He was forced to resign back then during the PSL Bio-bubble breach controversy.

-------------------------------

PCB medical chief: I didn't resign myself, CEO Wasim Khan told me to

Pakistan Cricket Board's medical chief, Dr Sohail Saleem has claimed that the PCB had forced him to resign after a bio-bubble breach led to the postponement of the Pakistan Super League in March even though he was not responsible for the fiasco.

Saleem, who headed the PCB’s medical and sports sciences department, was the only official to resign in the wake of the bio-bubble breach which forced the postponement of the PSL-6 in Karachi.

“I didn’t resign myself. The truth is soon after the postponement the PCB CEO Wasim Khan told me to resign. I knew that I had no choice because if I didn’t I would be sacked,” Saleem said on Geo News channel.

The PCB had to postpone PSL-6 abruptly after several players, including foreigners Fawad Ahmed, Tom Banton, Lewis Gregory and some local players and officials had contracted the virus despite remaining in a bio-secure bubble.

Saleem said while he had designed the blueprint for the PSL-6 bio-secure bubble, he was never responsible for its monitoring and execution.

“I only gave them the blueprint. It was the responsibility of the PCB to run it. If they were breaches it is their responsibility not mine,” said Saleem.

He said he felt hurt at the way he was forced to resign by the Board after serving for 22 years.

“I had raised objections to some of the franchises conducting commercial shoots at the hotel and also on some other matters but no one listened to me. Yet today, I am blamed for the breaches,” he said.

He noted that the PCB was now willing to pay a huge amount of money to a foreign company to design and run the bio-secure bubble for the remaining matches of the PSL-6 in June.

Saleem also claimed that despite his pleas, the PCB had refused to share the findings of the two-member inquiry committee formed to probe the bio-secure bubble breach.

Viewing his LinkedIn page he's been the director of the medical department at the pcb since 1998 so he's been in the system for 25 yrs.

Is there any past history did he have any connection with shoaib akhtar injuries ?

Since it says 1998 that's a very long tine

I imagined the medical field would probably be the only entity to be sifarish free based on the scrutiny and qualifications required to just get in the door, but I was clearly wrong. This guy is a complete fraud and I wouldn't trust him to give anyone a physical exam let alone prescribe a treatment plan.

I only know this guys name because Shoaib Akhtar bashed him a few times on his youtube channel. He hates him

He has eaten up the whole career of Ihsanullah, and he didn't even realize it.

a pace bowler that could had been the next best thing.

He had pre fixer Amir like movement in his bowling.
He had potential but not as good as you are making him out to be. Had an average u19 world cup and a flash in the pan PSL game.
