What's new

Listening to commentators, it appears that England are learning to play Tests in IPL!

You are free to watch whatever cricket you want. Those who want to watch IPL will watch it. Whats the issue?

Not a fan of any of these 20/20 leagues.

It’s all about money and nothing else. Some say it helps in pressure situations but that’s debatable.

Show me your evidnence of hundreds of thousands, the IPL has been shown on Sky for months now and i beleive last year too?

Less than 100,000 people watched the Ashes recently and you believe many times more are watching the IPL. Your defence of the IPL and everything Indian is hillarious:))

100000 people per day excluding the online viewers. Considering the time gap and Englands performance thats good.

You claimed 50000 then 80000 viewers. I said if only 50% of Indians watch IPL it would still be 100s of 1000s of eyeballs.

They are very low numbers, England always lose badly in Australia but have had much bigger audiences in the past.

There is no point arguing, I will get the official figures and get back to you . :)

That translates into getting selected for the Test team ?

It was a ridiculous selection, along with the young spinner.

But I’m sure Pakistan do not mind one bit.

Buttler is a special talent. He is bound to come good in Test cricket if given ample opportunities. England are short on batting talent at the moment, and the likes of Buttler are amongst the best they have got. His performance in the second innings is just a glimpse of what he is capable of.

That rookie spinner was an odd selection though, in spite of his runs in the second innings. He doesn't look like someone who is ready for this level, or ever will be for that matter.

IPL final being screened live at the Lords.

Pakistani fans can't catch a break.

They win a Test in England but still getting tormented by the IPL :)))

Switch the IPL with PSL, and what would our reaction have been?

Instead of burning, we should embrace the reality. The IPL is not just a T20 league anymore; it is international cricket in franchise form, and is the only T20 league that can directly influence selection in Test cricket.

People did not like what I said two weeks ago, but the fact that Buttler earned his place in the Test team based on his heroics in the IPL proves how massive the tournament has become today.

As far as the ECB is concerned, they have truly been humbled by the IPL, and hypocrites like Bumble have been badly exposed.

They fully deserve this humiliation.

LOL true.

If it was PSL, people would've been singing praises here.

Probably they are learning their skills in the IPL... what else explains such abject surrender!?

Too bad Dhoni can't captain the English team, or the Indian team come to think of it (Although he does captain it in LOIs) (indirectly of course) .

I am sure Pakistan mind more than a bit now.

ECB did the right thing by selecting him based on circus performances, because he has what it takes to be a quality Test player.

The difference between ECB selectors and sour grapes PP selectors is quite clear.

Seems like everyone is out there to troll PPers.. England vs Pakistan and commentators spend time talking about IPL where Pakistani players are banned..
