Logan Paul vs Conor McGregor: $250M mega-fight set for Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium in historic Visit India campaign [Post Updated #6]

Not sure if it's a good look for Ambanis given the recent rape verdict for Conor.

But if it does go ahead it will be a sell out and make big money for sure.

After his civil rape conviction he’s not talked about in UFC or Saudi. Women make up a large percentage of fans of combat sports now & it can cause damage right now to their brands. In a year or two he may come back but he’s past it as an athlete.

India is a market , most of the country is in poverty bit due to population size , there is enough wealthy folk to sell out an overpriced arena as nothing like this happens in India .

Also rape isn’t a taboo in India , it’s common .

Logan Paul vs. Conor McGregor: $250M Mega-Fight Set for Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium in Historic Visit India Campaign

A $250M clash of titans is set as Logan Paul and Conor McGregor gear up for a historic showdown in Mumbai, marking a groundbreaking moment in combat sports history!

Conor McGregor is preparing for a monumental return to combat sports in 2025, stepping outside the UFC for what could be one of the biggest boxing events in history. McGregor, 36, has been confirmed to face WWE star and social media influencer Logan Paul in a mega-money showdown hosted by India’s royal Ambani family. Both fighters are reportedly set to earn an unprecedented $250 million each. The fight will take place at Mumbai’s iconic Wankhede Stadium as part of India’s “Visit India” tourism campaign.

McGregor, known for his explosive style and charismatic persona, has not competed since his devastating leg injury in July 2021 during his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier. Initially slated to return to the UFC against Michael Chandler in June 2023, McGregor withdrew, citing a broken pinky toe. This high-profile boxing bout represents a fresh chapter in his illustrious career, which includes featherweight and lightweight UFC championships.

The Ambani family, led by Mukesh Ambani—ranked as the ninth-richest person in the world with an estimated net worth of $120 billion—are orchestrating the event. Known for their ventures in telecommunications, petrochemicals, and sports, the family views this fight as a landmark moment for Indian sports and tourism.

Logan Paul, with his massive global fan base and recent success in the boxing ring, is the perfect match for McGregor. However, the involvement of Logan’s brother, Jake Paul, has also stirred headlines. Jake, a YouTuber-turned-boxer with an impressive 11-1 record, has voiced his conditions for facing McGregor, stating, “The only way we’re willing to explore me vs. Conor in a pro boxing/MMA fight is if Dana White/UFC are at the table directly or make it clear they are OK with discussions.”

Anant Ambani, Mukesh Ambani’s son, is reportedly the driving force behind bringing this spectacle to India. His vision to host a global combat sports event in the country could set new standards for international boxing promotions. This ambitious fight aims to position India as a destination for world-class sporting events, merging the grandeur of the Ambani family’s influence with the global appeal of McGregor and the Paul brothers.

With $250 million on the line for each fighter, the stage is set for a historic night at the Wankhede Stadium. Fans worldwide eagerly anticipate this colossal clash, which promises to be a groundbreaking event for combat sports and a significant milestone in India’s sporting history.

This is why India can be Conor’s new home territory after Ireland have given him the boot.

Indians and Saudis are more than happy to look past this kind of stuff as long as it is generating them money and buzz. I'm sure if you looked up the comments section for a social media post related to this, you will see everyone supporting McGregor and even defending his rape charges.

That’s a lot of money.

But will certainly put Mumbai on the map of sports entertainment globally.

I don't think Saudis would look past it as their events are controlled by the govt, it would be very bad PR for a regime trying to make itself appealing to the west.

India is different in terms of reputation and the fact that this is technically a private event by Ambanis nothing to do with govt.

Bro its the Saudis. This is the same regime that liquidated a journalist that was critical of them. And the less said about women's rights in Saudi Arabia, the better it.

Both these countries are growing internationally and making a concentrated effort to bring major sporting events to their respective countries. Saudis obviously are doing it on a much larger level than India. Both of them will be more than willing to look past celebs with sketchy histories as long as they can help in boosting their, and their country's global image.

Are there a decent number of Logan Paul and Connor Mcgregor fans in India ? I doubt it.
Doesnt matter, since its western it will be sold out and tickets would get sold in black market.

One good example is the recent cold play concert tickets drama in India. People who never listened to them were buying tickets because they wanted to look cool.

I dont blame them. People in the west do similar things to look cool but on a smaller scale.

Will be marketed like crazy, Ambanis own literally every media outlet out there.

Most of Indians are sheep and wannabe’s anyways, so the media hype will make them watch it to look cool.
Then there will be all the chapri influencers doing reels about it on insta.

Need regular big fights in India instead of these gimmick fights to actually bring combat sports to Indian grassroots.

So all this stuff is going on for years and is fine when the whole world does it but when Bharat gets into the game and offers mind boggling money Bharatiyas are sheep lol. Sour grapes

Money talks for these people. With high enough of a price tag willing to fight in the middle of a dump.

I have grown to hate the Ambanis for the last 1 year, the whole marriage of their son who I have despised since 2017 bur seeing the massive hate towards Indians for this game from Pakistani posters is weird.

People across the world are sheep, but in most countries there are some people who have a spine and fight for their rights, in India the common man is a sheep and doesn’t even know his rights let alone fight for them.

Even the protests you see are mostly politically driven.

Though, I’ll give one thing to Indians, they are the most vocal online of all the nationalities and I would say we are the apex predators on the internet and eat anyone alive.

I have seen Indians comment on American posts on Instragram : “Is education illegal in America” , I was taken aback at the audacity lol using an American tech product and still saying that

There’s a meme on Instagram one Bihari guy saying “Pehle amreeka kehta tha kaun hai tu, ab hum amreeka ko bolte hai kaun hai be tu” and people cheering him.

It’s funny af, the guys expression are so funny.

Gotta love Indians online, if ever there was ranking for keyboard warriors, Indians will occupy all the rankings before any other country even gets a look in

They are obsessed with westernanizarion and West, so bowing down to their akkaz by filling up full stadium wouldn't be surprising, especially knowing their own cricket team gets a phainty at home like it did against NZ and Aussies so perhaps another sport will fill up more. Cheering a rape convict in a country which is epicenter for rapists wouldn't be surprising to see either

Never really got the appeal of MMA, which is weird because i used to like boxing and olympic wrestling.

I saw that made me chuckle coz ppl took it seriously in comments lol

You know a big reason why the elon musk manufactured grooming gang drama didnt go that well is because twitter is banned in Pakistan. The more engagement India’s cyber army gives to trolls, the more they will post anti India content.

They are jealous. McGregor didn't commit any crime in India we shouldnt care about what happen in European country. Pakistan can't hold event of this caliber so they accuse us of being west sheep.

Why only Indians and Saudis. Mike Tyson was a convicted rapist and he was cheered on by all and sundry after his comeback .

Saudis have taken over all major events. No one can compete with them . Weather people like it or not.

Infact the FIFA world cup 34 is hosted by Saudi, and the state of the art STADIA planned are extordinary

Are you talking about now or in the 90s?

In the 90s, it was a different time. I am sure there was outrage but Tyson's larger-than-life personality, drawing power, lack of internet etc. all likely contributed to people not caring as much.

McGregor is already widely hated and its simply a different time now in the West now socially than it was back then.

Whether it happened then or now , it was still wrong .

It may be a different time in the West but it wasn't so long ago that even the West didn't care about this stuff as much . Not even in the 2000's

Without a doubt, it was highly condemnable.

But you are wrong to say there wasn't outrage in the US. There was. In the media and among rights groups.

How can any country, especially democratic ones, ever compete with what is basically one family that controls the entire wealth of a low population, resource rich, USD 50 billion trade surplus nation?

But maybe there is an answer.
Bharat being an open market democracy and having a huge growing market place for entertainment makes it a potential growth market for music tours and sports entertainment.

Lol.

US sport and entertainment once the capital of global events, now plays second fiddle to the Saudis. Forget the rest.

While true it’s also because US still owns a lot of these Entertainment and businesses, they do this to promote to other countries, whether it becomes a norm we will come to know in time but Vegas will still remain for these thing esp after the dome.

Personally: I hate Vegas and surprisingly Saudi wants to be vegas weirdly.

Yep. But Money talks. And currently, no one can match the Saudis . And to make it clear, I'm no fan of them at all.

Well, this event will really attract more people, as people are influenced by celebrities & influencers!

Agree, India is a nation which is obsessed with celebs, Bollywood actors, even cricketers are more like celebs. Most Indians do not watch combat sports or participate in any type of combat, unless its sticks.

Conor is a washed up fighter who is being snubbed atm due to his civil conviction for rape. Paul is a nobody in combat sports.

Absolutely Agree!

Any update on this? Conor is the biggest star in MMA history, and this fight could be a game-changer for Indian MMA. It's about time combat sports gain some real popularity in India.

I was about to tag you to ask your view on this lol, do you think he can promote the game?

Promote MMA in India and Conor ? No chance mate, he’s the biggest bellend out there lol If this was ever to happen, it would just be a cash grab for him. And tbh, I doubt any type of combat sport would take off in a big way, even WWE struggled and they were meant to be more popular, they just did the one and done tour a while back. I think the gov in India should invest in such sports in the northern regions if the goal is to develop athletes for international competition.

WWE is kinda popular in rural areas but doubt they will go full on.
I do think there is some local WWE thing , weird but fun.

GOI ll never invest in MMA, Haryana gov does and Orissa gov does invest a lot in sports but center doesn’t care.
Also money is an issue for so many of our good athletes, scholarships are scarce.

Forget MMA, if there is one sport that can truly thrive in India, it is a momo-eating competition. That is what we excel at these days. Devouring junk food, hurling abuse, and laughing at others problems. These are the real national pastimes now. :inti
