The movie was simply outstanding and an amazing experience, what are your thoughts guys if you've seen it?

These X-Men movies are also a little bit cheeky by often touching on the political climate and they really put our current times into perspective with the movie tackling the immigration crisis in a dystopian future KingKhanWC

Quotes from the movie thread on how I found it:

Don't agree with Logan not being a "great comic book film" it's a BIG stereotype that comic books are made for kids entirely and are incredibly light in their tone, Wolverine is one of the darkest and grittiest of characters in the marvel universe and if you've read any of his graphic novels you'd see that the director did his origins justice and in the movie creators own words his vision was to "set frames that are descriptive, and evocative of comic-book panels" for Logan. There is no singular depiction of a particular character in comics, there are various incarnations which continue to evolve, TDK is often looked upon as taking a swim in waters beyond the "super-hero" genre when Nolan made heavy use of Frank Millers work but folk go on like his work was entirely an original piece; "comicy" does't = lightness, it can also be darkness when it comes to tone, depth and style.

The genre doesn't end and begin with TDK; we also forget that Toby Macguire's Spiderman was incredible although it was released a long time so people forget it a little. TDK had a lot going on, as a package it was a masterpiece; but no character in that movie for me is more compelling then Hugh Jackman in Logan so while you'd enjoy TDK Logan would have you a lot more emotionally invested in the lead, his performance is definitely worthy of an academy award. Patrick was brilliant no doubt! what an emotional roller coaster ride, was tearing up by the end it's the ultimate pay off but my only regret is that this movie is evidence of the potential they had with the Wolverine character in creating something very edgy so perhaps the previous two solo's could have been so much better.

The action was simply outstanding! the fight scenes were brilliant! can't fault the director on any level, credit to the producers and writers as well they all did their bit to create a masterpiece. You've mentioned everything but have also forgotten a small detail that the budget was only around $100 million!!! it magnifies their accomplishments. Going to watch TDK again but won't be surprised if I find myself rating Logan above it.

Quotes from SandyB post:
Logan - 9.4/10 Wow Wow Wow Greatest X-Men film ever, Marvel's greatest film !.. Even though X-men is Fox's & not MCU .. Ties with TDK as the greatest comic book /superhero film ever (maybe even ahead of TDK) ! Career best performance from Hugh Jackman (potential oscar nod - yeah, it's that good !) and best ever Prof. X from Patric Stewart !

The story is pretty much the best ever put on film involving any Marvel characters. Logan and Prof. X are the most fleshed out you have ever seen on screen, finally justifying the quality of talent (Patrick Stewart & Hugh) that have been playing them. It envisions a post- mutant society where things are very bleak, and Jackman portrays all the anguish and weariness of his ageless logan to perfection. Nothing less than an oscar nomination is appropriate for what he has acheived.!!

So does Stewart's performance deserve one. The Child actress playing the girl (Dafne Keen) is FABULOUS , in a role which could have ruined the whole film if she had sc**wed up. ! Very few child actresses have looked so natural in what is such a demanding(physically and emotionally) and mature role. !! There are no definitive villians here, more like circumstances.

Overall Logan is an incredibe cinematic effort , that has elevated Comic-Book cinema beyond plain popcorn entertainment. It is a movie to be talked for years to come and will be the gold standard by which all serious comic book cinema will be judged by for time to come. If it doesn't win atleast a few oscars it 'll be a indictment of the academy's aversion to popular cinema.

I have a strong feeling that Logan will be the first superhero movie to get nominated for Best picture, am not sure a movie in the genre has ever received the honor

The dark knight should been nominated, though ledger did win best supporting actor for playing the deranged joker.

Yeah it probably deserved a nomination ahead of the Michael Clayton movie

Second best after dark knight. Loved it. We need more movies like this and less garbage like suicide squad and the upcoming justice league movie. Like I said before. I re watched the dark knight a few days ago and that is a GOAT movie and this is a GOAT superhero movie. A level below TDK but still an 8.5 for me which is amazing.

For me:

Superman ll
Batman Begins
Spider-Man 2
X-Men 2
Iron Man
Chronicle
TDKR
TDK

Yet to watch Logan

TDK is in fact a superhero film. Batman in TDK was not an original piece of work contrary to belief among some people, he's a comic book character created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger; the TDK was entirely inspired by Frank Millers TDK returns graphic novel when it comes to tone, style and depth. With the Long Halloween and Killing Joke providing the narrative for two face and the Joker. This whole superhero movies got "real" with TDK does not line up when the Batman character has never relied on super powers in the first place, it's just that Nolan portrayed Frank Millers incarnation which had a level of darkness studio's were skeptical about performing at the box office.

Not seen TDK in a while and find myself watching Batman Begins a lot more often so can't say if TDK is better but Logan does come close to BB if not better. But one thing I will say for sure is that not one character in the TDK had me more invested emotionally then Logan.

Have not watched any of the old superman movies in a long time but Spider-Man 2 was incredible, it is so underrated

Like SandyB mentioned the other day, these Marvel characters were a response to DC characters although the X-Men were their own. It's a big shame for DC that Marvel have outperformed them when it comes to darker characters, Marvel will never compete with the outstanding animated DC movies but they've done a terrific job with the live action ones. Don't have high expectations for any of the DC releases which are coming up but look forward to the Solo Batman movie, will be a while until that is released though.

@in_cuter what is your favourite scene in Spidey 2? mine is where he stops that train from crashing while he has his mask off and then all the people on the train are carrying his life less body and say "he's only just a boy" powerful powerful stuff :)) then they gave his mask back and promised they'd not tell anyone

Infact, I'd probably put Spidey 2 on par with Superman ll.

There has not been a decent Superman movie since ll. A shame.

The train fight scene is just epic- up there with the plane rescue scene in Superman Returns.

Yea lol@ the mask scene. Great movie.

Damn shame, I had high hopes of Man of Steel; was so hyped after this outstanding teaser trailer:

Am not sure how DC managed to ruin superman

Supes Returns in my opinion was way better then MOS

One of the greatest trailer that. I edited a Chris Reeve version for fun :D

The mistake WB made was going for a dark & dull tone & also the wrong director. Henry Caville's Superman is too grumpy & does nothing Superman'ish if you know what I mean. A total mess.

Though I have hope for the solo Batman movie directed by Matt Reeves (from Apes movies).

I also edited a fan trailer with Hans Zimmer's score:

That's amazing bro! really enjoyed that! also nice how that theme fits in nicely with a movie which was actually decent, to be fair it is going to be hard for the modern vision to surpass the Reeves movies at their best, you reminded me of how much I loved them.

That edit works as well pretty decent, at first I thought it would be the theme where they show Bale climbing out the tunnel in the TDKR :))

My favorites:

Logan
Dark Knight Rises
X Men Apocalypse

Now we'll probably see a shift in superhero movies going towards a more tough story based settings rather than see who can blow up the most cities without having any consequences in the world whatsoever. ALA Man of Steel, Avengers etc.

Yeah thank God for that. Transformers started this "demolish the city" BS and I didn't watch any of their movies after the first couple.

I had to bare through the Avengers/MoS because I was interested in the overall plot line. Even in Batman vs Superman they just reduce the city to rubble.

Yep Transformers just got progressively worse and worse.

I hope the filmmakers can also do away with the US president gets captured and the Russians/Chinese are the big bad baddies preparing nukes where the American heroes have to come save the day plotlines.

If Logan "does come close to batsman begins" then it just isn't on the level of the GOAT movie of the past 10 years. The Dark Knoght. Logan was absolutely brilliant don't get me wrong

Deadpool was more of a parody/comedy taking the mickey out of the usual comic book adaptions trope.

Hence it was kind of unique as was Guardians of the Galaxy style.

Not the usual "defending the freedom of the American people and the world justice" kind of plot.

The Wolverine movies are much more in line with the usual Marvel storyline with the exception of Logan.

Forgot to mention X-Men apocalypse was awful considering how good the Days of Future Past was.

Excellent!!

Superman without the John Williams theme is just not superman for me!!

It still is a GOAT, BB has to be better then TDK for me as I rewatch it a lot more often. Also, the format of TDK is very conventional; Logan is an unorthodox creative masterpiece and they all needed $100 million to achieve greatness.

I thought the Days of the Future Past would be the final one and the end, no topping that and all but Logan has been the ultimate pay off to a fantastic franchise which began in the early 2000's. Now they have began their reboot

Surprised that no one mentioned Deadpool.

It was a fun movie, really enjoyed it; just before the Logan movie began they showed us a teaser for part 2 it wasn't that great to be honest looked more like an ad but still look forward to it

Lol at people putting mentioning deadpool. I really enjoyed it but people overrate it so much. Logan is much much better

Don't think anyone said it was better but rate it amongst the best in the genre , at the time of its release many thought it as the best R-Rated super-hero movie but Watchmen was far superior; will take something special for the next R-Rated movie to take the mantle from Logan.

However, deadpool was very good; it shouldn't be looked down upon just because its tone was different from TDK like many come from the line of thinking that an ATG action/adventure/comedy can't be better then an ATG thriller or drama for example so will overly underrate a movie like Deadpool

I saw it twice in the cinema because I really enjoyed it. I'm not underrating it. I'm just not overrating it like so many do.

Really, I wasn't compelled to see it again. You reckon the Batman solo will be good?

Decent director this time but no chance. Of course the self proclaimed hardcore comic book fans will still defend it to no end but deep inside even they will know how rubbish it is. TBH we don't deserve great movies like Logan. Such an amazing movie wasn't hyped as much as that suicide squad filth. Most of these comic book fans should stay away from film TBH. I remember how the director of suicide squad defended his movie by saying it was made for the hardcore fans. A movie has to be a good movie first and foremost. The justice league movie will be mediocre as well.

And you are overrating TDK. Way too much.

Nope I am not overrating it at all. It's my favourite movie of all time and so many will agree with me. I know it's their opinion but those who don't think TDK is a masterpiece are definitely in the minority.

Comic book fans prefer to see movies like Logan, it is the studio's which use them as an excuse to make rubbish when really they make best use of a tried and tested formula innovated by Michael Bay; I'd have thought that TDK would change the trend but it is only now that DC are coming to the party while Marvel have executed their ideas beautifully whilst respecting comic book origins even with their lighter characters the movies have been good.

Even with Logan the producers have been sceptical about its box office performance which has now exceeded even the most optimistic of predictions, hopefully this sends out a big message that if they focus on the narrative and compelling characters the movie will be a big success. Suicide Squad is an insult to the characters in the comics so am not sure how anyone can suggest it was in line with their depiction in the books on any level.

Studio's don't create these movies for the comic book fan demograph but for little kids who like the transformer crap and family's (they often limit creativity and even after all the limits they advocate the final cut is always heavily edited), they are very bad at forecasting market demand. Every now and then they tend to take a risks e.g Deadpool and Logan.

Ben Affleck is involved in most aspects of the project and is handling the script with Matt Reeves as the director, expect them to do a decent job which may be even better if the studio gives them leeway.

I have a strong feeling that Logan will be the first superhero movie to get nominated for Best picture, am not sure a movie in the genre has ever received the honor

Not sure regarding best picture, the Oscars always prefer the oscar baity "acting porn" films , over such grounbreaking stuff. Again if a Spielberg/ Cameron was involved , "Logan" was a sure bet ..

What I'm expecting are actng nods for both Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart. Both have raised the bar for acting in Comic book films. The joker was a Psychopath, which is a pretty oscar baity role. But these two have actually shown such nuanced, humane acting .. Atleast a nomination is surely expected. Also Logans story/screenplay deserves praise !

Marvel made all the right moves since the "Incredible Hulk" (2008) which is the official beginning of the MCU.
DC on the other hand never tried to control the output the way Marvel did in their earlier films. By the time they too decided to go the Marvel way, it was too much catching up to do too short. Instead of developing a bunch of movies over a period of time, DC is trying to match marvel releases poud-for-pound as soon as they started !.. This is badly affecting the quality of their output.

DC has far more visibility and popularity with their top draw characters , but that means there is far more scrutiny on their films. Nobody cared about the original Iron man film or Captian AMerica to the extend they do about the Superman or Batman films. So its always would've been a tough race for DC..

That is one of the most touching scenes in all superhero films.. Also shows the every-man nature of Spiderman's heroism perfectly .. That film came a generation too early. It gets underrated a lot .

That was getting way out of hand in recent movies. The main reason Avengers 2 felt so bad and MoS as well. Michael bay movies( Transformers : Dark Of The moon) are rarely taken seriously, still he makes "things blowing up " look pretty darn cool though. Wish he did a superhero film , and not these crap Transformers films.. !

Watchmen the film is a faithful adaptation, thats all it is !. The movie is a 6.5/10 given that the source material is actually 12/10 !!
Snyder didn't trash the adaptation like it was done for V for Vendetta
, but the movie didn't elevate itself in any way, maybe because Snyder is a limited filmmaker.

Compare that to Nolan who used great graphic novels like "Year one", "Killing Joke", The Dark Knight Returns" etc to cook up his Trilogy which elevated the medium beyond "Just an adaptation" .

Batman has been done to death so many times. Why cant DC go for the lesser adapted yet great characters ?. Suicide Squad , though trash was a great yet different attempt . Cant they try more WW or Flash someone like that ??

Batman has peaked in so many aspects, Realism - Dark Knight Trilogy, Comedy - Lego Batman, Light Hearted Take - Batman (1989), what else is there to achieve ?

Year one, Killing Joke, TDKR and The Long Halloween. The ultimate cut of watchmen and the movie in itself was excellent; it was let down by the R Rating which viewers didn't take to as kindly and the release did not came in the boom period, years later Deadpool has been well received despite the rating and opened the door for the film makers to take a risk with Logan. If watchmen came out now it would get a lot more critical acclaim, am not a fan of Znyder but that was a good movie.

Id put both Dark Knight and Dark Knights Rises ahead of it. Logan comes next on par with Civil War, never been an X men fan but the movie was proper film that i think i most adults will enjoy.

shaz619

What is the full story behind this character? I've never heard of him before this movie was relesaed. What's his special powers?

It's hard to give the whole picture in a short post whilst covering the depth in comics but I'll give you the gist.

He was an illegitimate kid born in the 1800's who had a rough childhood and would end up killing an abusive man whom he did not know was his father (who was manipulated by a wealthy family being a groundskeeper) when his mutation would manifest. Then he'd run away was very young with a childhood companion named Rose who'd he kill accidentally with his claws before fleeing and remaining in the wilderness with the wolves before being placed in a circus. Then he is freed and betrayed by a man whom he considered a brother who also kills his lover, he then is ushered into the canadian military during World War 1. In between he had been captured by various government higher ups who wanted to weaponise him by enhancing his abilities, they did just that but he'd escape the facility.

His powers include animal-keen senses, enhanced physical capabilities, powerful regenerative ability known as a healing factor, and six retractable bone claws in his hands.

The healing factor is an important one because from the 1800's to present he has remained alive, during this period he has fought in almost every war, lost many friends and has endured great tragedy; pretty much anyone who ever got close to him would die due to their association with him and he has found himself in positions where he'd be forced to do things he didn't want to and other times simply because he did not care but deep down there has always been a lot of good in him. Immortality became a curse and he tries his best to stay awake at night because he has nightmares the moment he closes his eyes, what he longs for throughout all his struggles is a soldiers death to just end his pain. So mentally, physically and spiritually the character is on the brink and completely broken in every way imaginable; his body and mind lives through excruciating pain.

The mutants in X-Men (Wolverine/Logan being one of them) have been emphasised as powerful metaphors for the misunderstood and persecuted in reality, throughout the timeline in the X-Men comics universe the mutants are very much a part of the real world and many topics are often covered ranging from abuse of rights, discrimination, freedom and integration.

Unlike past X-Men movies Logan is now set in a dystopian future where mutants have been extinguished and the few that are remaining are kidnapped by government officials to torture them and perform experiments on them with the aim of turning them into a weapon. Patrick Stewart the bald dude who plays Professor Charles Xavier in the past took mutants in, gave them an education/shelter in his school and always tried his best to build a bridge between mutants and humans; now he is an old man who is very sick but also happens to be the most powerful on the planet given how he is able to manipulate the universe with his telepathic abilities but as he became ill physically and mentally he began to lose control of them at times like for example when he has a seizure his telepathic abilities sort of cause a mini earthquake not that it's something he intends but during this period in the past he lost control and it resulted in a catastrophe; similar to say an immigrant committing an isolated crime which leads to generalisations despite the fact that multiple studies across decades have shown that undocumented immigrants are significantly less likely to commit crimes than U.S. citizens.

So as a result of what he did and the current political climate the ill professor lives in isolation along with a mutant helper and wolverine (logan) who takes care of him, they are all sort of hiding away from everyone else given that the mutants are not welcomed in society and most of them have been taken out. Professor Charles Xavier and Wolverine share a strong bond the two have rarely seen eye to eye but have a deep love for each other and have been through a lot, Xavier took in Wolverine much like Cus D Amato took in Tyson and tried to help him as much as he could and was a pivotal member of his X-Men team which fought against evil. It's important to mention that Logan has good in him but I wouldn't say he's an all out hero like a Superman, he has an edge to him.

But that is the background of the Logan movie, it is set in a dystopian future where the mutants are trying to get themselves in a position where they are able to cross the border to Canada where everyone will be a lot safer. At first I thought the director was being subtle but he is blatant with his disgust for Trump's policies :))

KingKhanWC So Logan is about 2-3 centuries old :)) worth a watch mate! great narrative and the action is brilliant! movie was very moving

This is the trailer for the movie one of the best I've seen in a long time:

The "Hurt" song by Johnny Cash in the trailer background is a beautiful way to convey the movies heart and soul in a way, for once the trailer lives up to the hype as well.

"Logan" is a Marvel movie as a western in the style of Sergio Leone. Great performances but I doubt if it will get an Oscar nod. A lot of holes in the plot.

TDK probably the best although I really liked The Watchmen, the most faithful adaptation of a graphic novel.

Hurt was the best song that they could have gone for Wolverine movie. Logan was great and Hugh Jackman was phenomenal in it along with patrick stewart and dafne keen. Really hope fox makes future X men movies which are focused on other mutants not just Xavier, Magneto and Mystique

The dark knight should been nominated, though ledger did win best supporting actor for playing the deranged joker.

My favorites:

Logan
Dark Knight Rises
X Men Apocalypse

Have not seen Logan yet but if I had to judge all the superhero movies I have seen in the last decade or so.

1) Spiderman (2002) - something new at the time and was decent but not great
2) Spiderman 2 (2004) - probably the best out of all the Toby McGuire movies and Alfred Molina was great but not great.
3) Spiderman 3 (2007) - Okayish.
4) Amazing Spiderman (2012) - very good and Andrew Garfield did a great job - certainly better than the original Spiderman series
5) Amazing Spiderman 2 (2014) - IMO the best spiderman movie so far - great action and plot and very well made.
6) Batman Begins (2005) - Okayish
7) The Dark Knight (2008) - one of the greatest movies of all-time let alone a superhero movie. Great plot and acting - loved every bit of it.
8) The Dark Knight Rises (2012) - very good but as good as TDK.
9) Iron Man 2 (2010 - Decent
10) Iron Man 3 (2014) - I thought it was great - kept me engaged throughout and was one of the best.
11) Thor (2011) - Rubbish
12) Thor - Dark of the World (2013) - Rubbish
13) Captain American Civil War - One of the best (ATG for me) at a par with TDK or maybe just below. Probably the best ending out of all the Marvel movies.
14) Avengers (2012) - Good movie but not amazing as some people thought it was
15) Avengers 2 (2015) - Average at best.
16) Wolverine (2013) - Extremely well made and loved it. One of the best X Men movies around.
17) X Men - Days of Future Past (2014) - One of my favorites but not as good as Civil War or TDK
18) X Men - Apocalypse (2016) - Okayish and decent but not spectacular
19) Batman vs Superman (2016) - Garbage.
20) Doctor Strange (2016) - Rubbish.

My top 3 would be:

1) The Dark Knight
2) Captain America - Civil War
3) The Dark Knight Rises / X Men Days of Future Past / Amazing Spiderman 2

This is the trailer for the movie one of the best I've seen in a long time:

The "Hurt" song by Johnny Cash in the trailer background is a beautiful way to convey the movies heart and soul in a way, for once the trailer lives up to the hype as well.
This is one of my all time favorite songs.Deep baritone voice of Johnny cash makes it so calm and soothing to ears.If ever there was a song which can reduce one to tears

There are a few great comic book films that a lot of people miss :

1) Blade (1998)- Marvel's first genuine Comic book success. Single-handedly saved marvel's movie ambitions , and kick-started the modern Comic book movie - age after the genre crushing failure of Batman & Robin .

2) Blade 2 : Considered one of the greatest comic book sequels ever, alongside X2

3) Frank Miller's Sin City (2005) - Ultra-violent , but incredibly faithful adaptation of Frank Miller's masterpiece works. Robert Rodriguez directly involved Miller in the film-making, so that reflected in the quality of the final product.

also deserving mention are V for Vendetta (very inferior to the source material, yet pretty good on its own ) , 300 (2006) [Snyder's best work] and Wanted (2008) [ a very loose comic book adaptation, yet quite exciting as an action film]

SandyB you probably could do a better job then me providing the origins of the wolverine character for folk who are not familiar with him! if I've left anything out do add to me post so that KingKhan and others who have not seen any Wolverine or X-Men movie get a little bit of perspective on Wolverines origins before they see Logan!!

OMG how did I miss Sin City! loved that! was part 2 any good, Unbreakable is another movie which is often disregarded but tends to be highly rated by those who saw it when it came outs, I've not got around to watch it myself yet

Part 2 was horrible ! Watch it if you are a fan of Eva Green :creep

They just aped the visual style of the previous one. Brought nothing new to this film .. The stories where not at all interesting , even though the source material is pretty intriguing . Proper miss-step by Frank miller and Rodriguez. Retains the same visual style, but lacks zero punch !

shaz619 You have pretty much given it all .. I have pretty much zero exposure to Wolverine outside the films and that late 90's XMen animated series.. SO I don't have that much to add .

My take is that , Wolverine is Marvel's dark , disturbed conflicted hero. Similar to Batman for DC. But he lives in a far more realistic setting in the Xmen universe, instead of the god/hero like perception that DC heroes enjoy.

The XMen are hated, mistrusted and are vilified by the rest of the human race. Since the X-Gene that causes the mutants to have their special powers is a by product of Human evolution , (Xmen are described as Homo-Sapiens-Superior) , humans cannot accept them as superior life forms. On one end Magneto and his side want mutants to become the dominant force on earth, while Professor X and his X-Men want peaceful cohabitation with normal humans.

This is the overarcching narrative of the X-Men storyline.

Wolverine
, being older than all of them , and having seen the absolute worst of humanity over his 200 year life, wants no part in either teams, but we find him being pulled into this every now and then and he usually takes the good side..

This dark, gritty realism , which we all seem to enjoy in present day comic book films was ACTUALLY first depicted from the begenning in the X-Men comics. So, the "real world consequences of super-powered beings , and how we would really perceive them " were always a big issue throughout the X-Men literature.. This makes them a truly unique and intriguing set of superheros.

Logan/Wolverine is the most interesting of these charaters to see the universe through..

shaz619 SandyB Wow thanks guys, great read. I will definitely give this a watch, a superhero who I can relate to.

Great post, want to highlight this point of yours "This dark, gritty realism , which we all seem to enjoy in present day comic book films was ACTUALLY first depicted from the begenning in the X-Men comics" yet we have a few who blame "comic book fans" on the trash produced by DC, it's a very narrow minded assumption because studio's have often imitated Michael Bay's Transformer model to appeal to all the fans who in fact do not read the comics. If they made movies for the comic books fans then we'd not see films like suicide squad, man of steel and B v S; their depiction would do their origins in the book a lot more justice and thus the quality would improve as well.

I feel the same way :)) another point I forgot to touch on was that given all the turmoil and struggles wolverine goes through over his life time he has never been able to settle and enjoy the purest of love which at its best stems from within a family, a bond between a mother/father with her children for example; in terms of personal relationships with females he has been close to a few but it always ended in tragedy. Am chilling in the east coast where they don't have no IMAX :)) but cineworld on broad street have IMAX I believe, watch the movie in an IMAX screen book your tickets online a little earlier before you go and pick where you want to sit so you get the best view and no one can take your place, these days we can't go to a movie and sit where we want as it is I think doesn't work like first come first serve anymore although at times you can get away with it

Saw it today and loved it.

More mature than Man Of Steel, more restrained than The Dark Knight Rises, more brutal action sequences than The Dark Knight, better written than Spider-Man (McGuire original), more interesting than the first X-Men film. Even Deadpool's endless self-referentialism and fourth wall breaking got tiresome half way through the film. These are some of my other favourites.

For me Logan is just ahead of X-Men First Class as the new best superhero film ever!

Yes way better.

Batman Begins has a brilliant last 35 minutes or so, but is raw and mostly average apart from that IMO.

Fair enough, Logan is arguably the greatest ever no doubt; it was so emotionally charged and really pulls your heart strings. What a journey it has been and the X-Men franchise has been exceptional; barring a movie or two all of them have been very good.

Is there an IMAX on Broad Street?

Is there an IMAX on Broad Street?

Didn't you know!?? it opened like 1-2 years ago in the Cineworld Cinema which now has IMAX screens, they are brilliant. The Odeon in broadway plaza has an isense screen as well, if you're interested in visuals go to Cineworld but if you want incredible sound quality then go Odeon. I usually prefer Cineworld.

No I didn't , always go the star city cinema with the gold recliner seats and waiter service but yes the visuals and sounds should be my priority. :viv

No! never go there! their screens are the worst imo, I think it's the worst Vue in the country. Defo watch Logan at Cineworld on Broadstreet and pick the IMAX showing then after you can go for a much on ladypool road or if you want to eat somewhere near by hagley road (for akbars) or broad street itself (east is east 2mins away from the cinema karahis etc which are pretty decent always tell them to make it desi style medium spicy at the very least love their butter chicken karahi/balti).

I know most folk tend to pick Star City as it's convenient as there are some food places near by but they are average. Cineworld also have a free car park (NCP) as well which is next to the nandoes, you just have to make sure you get the ticket validated at the cinema after the movie has ended before you return to your car.

Local lads then eh :)

I agree. VUE Star City is not the best.

Thanks for your recommendation James. Will take Mrs CC to watch this movie.

Your Missus may not enjoy the extreme violence , especially involving the girl child character. Even quite a few men in my theater found it a bit shocking ..

On the other hand, its your missus, so who knows :broad..

DC finds itself in a tough spot mainly because its character roster is far bigger and most of its big heroes are super powerful gods. I mean Superman alone can do everything !

This makes it difficult for them to create convincing stories and team-up ventures for the screen. Compare that to Marvel who have lesser powered main heroes, so there is a genuine need for heroes to join forces.. !

Also, Marvel X-men exist kind of separated from the rest of the MCU , even in comics, with occasional rare crossovers, so do the Fantastic 4 . This compartmentalization helps marvel a lot. While in DC everything revolves around the Justice League and their Spinoffs (JL- Dark, Injustice, Birds of Prey) and B-Teams - Titans, Young .. This sheer size can be worked out in the comics , but when it comes to movies it creates issues.

But DC movies beat Marvel hands down when it comes to the villians though... The great marvel vllians were more or less in the Spiderman films ..

Wolverine's life is a never ending tragedy. It is something we are always aware of while going through any of his stories.

Batman is a perpetual tragedy too , but the difference is that Bruce Wayne ,chose to live that life , giving up everything and sacrificing all love to be Batman. But Wolverine was born into it . He always wanted to be able to have a normal life and find some kind of love or happiness, but his inborn powers keep pushing tragedy upon tragedy over him ! His near immortality and regeneration makes him untouchable even for death , which leads to a life defined only by sorrows and losses.

There is a line from "The Wolvereine " - " A life without end has no meaning ".. This pretty much sums up what Wolverine is as a character. I find him a far more intriguing character in that sense, but his Character never had the same quality of stories that have been written about Bats..

thought it was an established fact that TDK was the best superhero film of all time

What is the full story behind this character? I've never heard of him before this movie was relesaed. What's his special powers?

He's an angry Canadian midget who wins fights by virtue of his ability to take more of a beating than anyone else on Earth.

His special power is being portrayed by Hugh Jackman, who is amazing, so he gets to be the face of the X-Men instead of Cyclops who is the real daddy.

Ha ha . Great intro for Wolverine :14

It is true that Being played by Hugh Jackman elevated wolverine quite a bit , and even changed the image of the original character (Hugh is 6 feet plus while the actual Comic book wolverine is 5.3 or something ! ), but not as much as Iron Man benefited by RDJ.. Even now for most of the world Iron Man is just another RDJ role. Talk about actors owning a role !!

No matter how tough or cool Wolverine tries to act, he knows who the real boss is. :broad

i havent watched Logan. just saw a trailer. but if the girl lives in the end thn she will be the next wolverine in Marvel Cinema. becoz i heard that Logan is the last film of Huge jackman as Wolverine, and i think that no male actor can act Wolverine like Huge jackman.

All the folk who are generally blind tend to favour the cyclops :yk And for all the hippies who do not know, the Iron Man character was actually based on a man called Howard Hughes who was a businessman, aeronautical/aerospace engineer, pilot, film director and philanthropist. Cyclops is like the Rahat Ali of the X-Men, Logan is the Viv Richards.

My top 5 list of the worst characters in the history of comics:

1. Cyclops
2. Cyclops
3. Cyclops
4. Cyclops
5. Cyclops

What are his origins even? he woke up one day and realised he can shoot people with his eyes the same way superman can, Cyclops is like the jobber version of Superman. He's the justin bieber of superheroes, mostly women are big fans of him and small males :yk2

Lol at greatest. It was a decent film, in a long line of decent X-Men films, nothing more.

I've seen this before. " Astonishing X-Men " written by Joss Whedon (Avengers director ) I think..

This sure is Cyclops coolest/greatest moment ..!!

But the character doesn't have enough story backing him up, to be honest , atleast in the movies. Acually Jean Grey , Cyclops are just as important /more than Logan in the comics, but in general public perception Wolverine is far more popular as a Character, thanks to Hugh's portrayal and also the merchandising/pop-culture references..
