Logan - The Greatest Superhero film of all time? Your Review?

Guys, how about Ang Lee's Hulk? IMO, this is a very underrated movie. Proper art house stuff. Bana was superb David Banner- you feel his pain & tortured soul. Yeh some of the effects were ropy but overall a good movie. And of course a great soundtrack too.

I've seen this before. " Astonishing X-Men " written by Joss Whedon (Avengers director ) I think..

This sure is Cyclops coolest/greatest moment ..!!

But the character doesn't have enough story backing him up, to be honest , atleast in the movies. Acually Jean Grey , Cyclops are just as important /more than Logan in the comics, but in general public perception Wolverine is far more popular as a Character, thanks to Hugh's portrayal and also the merchandising/pop-culture references..

Wolverine was more popular in the 90s as well, because that era was all about being edgy and "cool" so the miserable, angry loner was more marketable so he got a big push in the comics and the X-Men kids cartoon. He was just a more attractive character for little children. That cartoon is also why clowns like Gambit and Jubilee are still kinda popular.

You're right about the Hugh Jackman though, he's just awesome and that's a huge part of the success of the movies.

I don't think the panels I posted above are even the best Cyclops moment in Astonishing X-Men, this bit gets me every time.

Saw Logan. It's not even close to any in the TDK trilogy. a tarintino style slash and gore on the run. Felt no empathy for any of the characters, the ending so pathetically predictable.

Just hype and way to keep the franchise going after jackman....

I've not seen those hulk movies in a while but can't get past his comedic depiction now, use to watch old re runs of the 1978 Hulk TV series with me mom who was a big fan. Feel the show creators get the Hulk's depiction about right in that TV show, what do you think Robert? the 1978 series or Hulk in the 2000's ?

No offence but na, I don't agree

It's like any other wolverine film where he lacks skills that other better mutants have but he makes up for it with his drive and preservance

Charles and caliban had interesting roles , and were basically zombies long before they were murdered

The future is very bleak based on this offering by Marvel IMO

Logan is an utterly awesome film!!! One of the best I've seen in a long time. It's one of those films where you feel every single emotion and you're completely gripped the whole way through! So glad I went to see it.

Totally agree, it's the depth of the wolverine character which allows for such an emotionally charged narrative and high calibre story telling; the directors finally do the character justice, the previous tales weren't as edgy but they along with the x-men movies did well to convey the characters back story but Logan was excellent in its execution. Was not as invested in any character from Nolan's Bats series more then Logan

Re watched it. It's a great movie but nothing more than an 8.5. People are overrating it because they're not used to seeing brilliant, gritty movies. I will watch it a 3rd time though. Loved it. Dark knight is much much better and so are batman begins and dark knight rises (despite its many flaws)

You're partially right except it wasn't as good as most Tarantino films. You are also underrating it abbot. It was very good but not at the left of the DK films of course. People often overrate movies that bring something new to the table.

I am not a comic book fan, so I am not emotionally invested in anything be it batman or xmen.

My over riding feeling after watching this was ... Meh, what's the fuss and hype about. I enjoyed TDK trilogy more. At the end of the day it's all very subjective. I couldn't see the depthness in the characters or connect with them but clearly others can. But I suspect they are comic book fans with more knowledge of the back story.

I like comic books but I judge movies based on how good they are as movies and you are not wrong when you say this isn't as good as the dark knight movies.

If not the comics then the x-men movies and origin spin offs do the job to covey Logans never ending torture on loop and give a bit of back story, he's statistically the best live action comic book character as well when you look at how long he has played the role so this was the ending of his journey and that plays a part to, previous movies could have been just as edgy but they were not tempted to go in that direction thinking it would tank at the box office but deadpool opened the door and i think regardless they wanted to end on a high creatively.

I don't even watch most of the trash these days and often rewatch movies from the past that were good so it's nothing to do with overly giving it credit due to Logan being excellent in the era of garbage, it has already been advocated in terms of critical acclaim on a level playing field as TDK so it is no surprise that arguments are going to be made for it being superior. Still aint got round to watching TDK again but what I can say for sure is that no character was more compelling then Logan

It's not as good as Nolans series because it's way better :afridi :akhtar :yk3

I don't think you read comic books you have this stereotype about them that they're for kids and responsible for trash like suicide squad and b v s :)) if you read them you'd know that it's not further from the truth, blame the casuals, michael bay and a rush to compete with MCU as the reason behind why the movies not good.

I like comic books. I don't like those comic book fans who defend garbage movies like suicide squad and hype up mediocre movies like justice league. Lmao people were saying the trailer of that movie made their day. You can't deny that there are many of these people. Logan was a great movie but people are really overrating it. Purely as a movie it just isn't at the level of the DK movies

I am not at all an Xmen fan. But to make my brothers happy I went.

IMO this was an amazing movie due to acting and story line. At times it felt more like a drama movie than an action movie. The end of the last fight scene was kind of a bum note IMO.

Watched TDK again.

The opening bus scene is the most stupidest plot hole ever..when Batman jumps out the window to save Rachel, the scene just ends there with Batman leaving a crazed maniac with the guests..wth? The ferry scene was overly long & tedious...probably could have done without it. Overall a good movie & the probably the most overrated. Not a patch on Batman Begins.

I reckon Nolan went overboard with the realistic approach. It's just a crime movie that happens to have Batman in it.

I don't think any of them defend it but understandably the movies would be better for them than say someone who doesn't read the comics in terms of picking up on plot points which others are not able to, I've not seen any of these guys say that suicide squad or b v s were better then TDK. It's the casual fanbase who highly rate those movies and they tend to be tweaked and targeted towards them, they are the ones who drive the needle at the box office thanks to the action template in this ea.

Well that's your opinion about it not being at that level but the consensus suggests otherwise, very small margins between the two movies when it comes to critic and user reviews/ratings:

TDK

Rotten Tomatoes: 94% (critics) , 94% (users)

Metacritic: 82 (critics) , 8.9 (users)

ComicBook.com Composite Ranking (Comic Book Movies): no.1 @ 89.14 Composite

Logan

Rotten Tomatoes: 92% (critics) , 93% (users)

Metacritic: 77 (critics) , 8.8 (users)

ComicBook.com Composite Ranking (Comic Book Movies): no.2 @ 88.23 Composite

If am honest am a bit surprised it makes people's ATG top 10 list, but I don't say anything because am a big bats fan so I"ll take it :))
