Looks like the Army missed its chance at glory with Arshad Nadeem after leverage Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim's return for World T20 success backfired

It is quite obvious that one of the reasons why the Army wanted to train Pakistan and to have Amir and Imad return was so that Pakistan would win the World T20 and the army can step in and claim the success and whitewash its image that has been destroyed since the last couple of months.

Yet while the cricket team failed, Arshad Nadeem won Gold in the olympics.

It makes you wonder, had the army trained Arshad, the amount of credit they would had claimed. Right now, they will be itching for Arshad to shake hands with the head.

Did the army bid on the wrong horse and miss its chance to whitewash its image through Arshad Nadeem?

If the Army wanted to improve their image, wouldn’t it have been easier to give free tubs of biryani than to bank on Pakistan winning a tournament under Babar Azam’s captaincy?

Surprised they didnt offer him an army job after the last olympics, World Championship or Commonwealth games ??
It would have been a great PR statement, "Our Army man beat the Indian Army man".

😂 well, you know it! 😂

Unfortunately after the stunts the PA pulled on their own awaam, Arshad should keep a 100ft pole distance minimum.

Pakistan will definetely win one of the white ball tournaments in the next few years. Hardly any quality teams, T20 is a lottery format and there is a cup every other year.

Similarly I am not surprised by Nadeem either, he probably won because no one gave a damn and he figured it out himself so you will see such freak performances by Pakistani athletes once in a while as there is raw talent.

SL, Pak, WI have all won ICC tournaments before India after 2013 but still their cricket is on life support all the time.

A good system can produce results but a broken system might produce freak performances but there will be a sustainability problem.

They went credit for everything good but for anything bad others are responsible

Everyone will claim credit now that Nadeem won. But very few people would have supported him when he was up and coming. All the credit belongs to him and his close circle alone ,

I saw a video where Shahbaz Sharif was watching the event and then someone congratulated him (SS) saying "Aapka hi vision hai" . Absolute sycophancy.

That guy won a gold in heavy lifting

Every authority in Pakistan is trying to take the credit for Arshad Nadeem's victory ut they have nothing to show for that.

Arshad is a superstar who worked hard himself without any support and did the unthinkable. No government or army etc can take its credit in any way.

Seems PSB saying Arshad was provided with support!

KARACHI: A day after Arshad Nadeem’s historic feat in the 2024 Paris Olympics of winning Pakistan’s first-ever individual Gold medal, the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has claimed that the government has stood firmly behind the javelin ace throughout his career and provided him “unwavering financial and technical support”.

Arshad got the gold medal at the Paris Olympics with a massive throw of 92.97m, which was also a new Olympic and Asia record.

The government remained under criticism, and rightly so, for not providing enough support to the Athlete, who won his 9th international medal for Pakistan since 2016.

“The government has stood firmly behind Arshad Nadeem throughout his career, providing unwavering financial and technical support,” reads the message sent on IPC and PSB WhatsApp groups for the media.

“With the Pakistan Sports Board and Athletics Federation at the helm, his training — whether at home or abroad — has been meticulously arranged. In just the past three years, Mr. Arshad has been honoured with Rs. 22 million in cash awards. Moreover, in the 2023-24 financial year, Rs. 69 million was dedicated to the Athletics Federation to uplift athletes across the nation,” the statement added.

According to a breakup provided to Geo News by PSB, a large sum of 2.2m was the prize money Arshad deserved for winning various medals for Pakistan.

He was also provided Rs10 million under the head of “medical treatment” in April earlier this year.

Other rewards include Rs5 million each for the gold medal in the 2022 Commonwealth Games and a silver medal in the 2023 World Athletics Championship while one million each for winning medals in four different events.

When asked, the PSB official said that the board is still finalising and summarising the details spent on Arshad’s training in South Africa.
