Honestly I don’t remember the last time we’ve ever played a world tournament as clinical as we have this time around. From the first ball of the tournament to the last Pakistan has played like lions, never throughout the tournament it looked like they let their guard down or were under pressure. Pakistan was on top throughout this match as well I never dreamt of the day that a team like Australia would take the pressure of Pakistan it clearly showed today in the field they were all over the place. So overall an amazing tournament for Pakistan and Pakistani fans gave us tons of moments to cherish and enjoy. I’m extremely proud of the teams effort they’ve punched way above their weight especially after what we had been going through we’ve made those teams realize that you won’t be able to sideline us because this is what we can do. Overall an amazing tournament and I hope no wrist slitting happens after this match or a specific player is targetted.

Every game after the India match felt so good to watch. No nerves, no geela kachi, no stress, and now we know how Indian fans felt in the past. Watching other teams sweat it out whilst we have our feet up.

Hurts when you come so close and falter at the end. The next T-20 WC is in Australia where the conditions will not favour us.

it was a fun WC

some close games including Afg,Nz and today

just unfortunate

A part of me feels we could have lost to Afghanistan or NZ to avoid this tough semi final against Australia.

England were a walking ticket to the final!

2009 and 2007 were way better.

Yeah we played quite well in 2007 but dhonis luck came in the way actually 2009 we weren’t that good we should have lost to South Africa in the semi final they just choked like always.

come on, its T20, conditions don't matter as much. We have some solid bats up top now who can take on the short ball.

Thats what hurts most. These conditions were perfect for our team and our batting style and openers. Was Pakistans world cup to Lose. Will never get such a chance. In Australia this tactic and team won't work.

So they have no practice of pressure match? When was the last time PCT went into semis of WCs?

In contrast to the ODI World Cup, never has the pre-tournament favorites of a T20 WC, in 7 editions so far, gone on to win the trophy. Does that make this format a bit of a lottery ?

To be honest I'm surprised at this teams ability to stay undefeated in the group stages. I would agree, this Pakistan team played some really good cricket.

It was a good two and a half weeks :)

And we were in this game till the end. I think we have a good future ahead.

There is a reason why Pakistan generally suck against Australia in everything, we don’t back ourselves to defeat them in Tests, or important ICC tournament matches. This still hasn’t changed

Nah this was better we beat India and India got eliminated , not a better feeling than that

The worst WC in my memory is 1996.. we knocked PCT out but believe me that semi loss to Lanka still hurts.

But again to each its own, also i would credit Kiwis to knock us out.

From a Pakistani perspective, I've definitely enjoyed watching the team in this tournament. Yes, it is disappointing to lose in the semis, but I'm hoping we can take this as a positive experience going forward. There's another T20 WC next year, so time to start preparing for that.

Lol this Aus side is nothing, you will get them next time. They don’t have a great T20 record at home either.

They are your bogey team like NZ is ours. Can think of at least 4 world events they ousted us.

The same could be said about the New Zealand side man to man in comparison to the Indian side, how can India not beat them in ICC tournaments for the past 18 years?

True. In some sporting contests, form, team strength etc goes out of the window, you just get defeated by the same opponent, again and again.

Case in point being WC '11 SF between us. No way, you should have lost that game but you did!

Yes but i believe we will beat them next time.

Pakistan played really well and the best part is that the top performers like Afridi, Rizwan, Babbar, Fakhar, Asif Ali all of them are young and can be the core of the team for next 5-7 years and win some trophies.

Actually Kiwis are underrated and with Williamson as the captain means sum of parts will always be greater than the whole. If Kiwis could win the final, which I think they will, then Kane's legacy will be hard to beat for any captain.

The odds were stacked against us after batting first
9 out of 9 in this world cup at this ground in a night game team batting first lost,
16 out of 17 overall
We came very close and if that catch is taken, we are almost there

To be honest, I think Australia would have won even if that Wade catch had been taken. Stoinis was still there and some big hitters like Starc and Cummins could reap 20 runs in 12 balls. Not a tough ask on this ground.

If the catch had been taken it was 20 required off 9. And Shaheen is far better against right handers.

Unlikely Australia would have won then because any mishit means a single and a non specialist batter is on strike.

I think 2009 was better because we won, but this world cup was definitely an enjoyable ride! The only way it would've been better was if one of the losing sides in the other group were in our group instead (for example either SL or WI in particular). I don't think it would've changed the results, but it would've given Pakistan one more fun game to watch (as opposed to the games against Namibia and Scotland).

Though I kept criticizing our batting bar one game against India where we absolutely hammered them, they continued to prove me wrong by winning with their (outdated) methods. And winning is always fun :)

Former Pakistan skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq has asked the management to include some new faces in the realm of T20Is in times to come. Inzamam added that the next T20 World Cup is all set for 2022 in Australia and men in green can try out some fresh faces in their upcoming fixtures to prepare them.

Inzamam stated that the PCB selection committee must be on the lookout to get some new cricketers in the lot. He stated the example of Mohammad Hafeez asking for new players instead of him on the Bangladesh tour. However, the team took Iftikhar Ahmed instead of including other fresh names. The former cricketer added that Babar and his men look perfect in their base and will see positive results going forward.

“PCB and selection panel might be thinking of including new cricketers in this T20 cricket. Mohammad Hafeez asked them to include a new player instead of him [on Bangladesh tour], however, they picked Iftikhar Ahmed but I think young players must be included. It’s a great opportunity for Babar and PCB as the base of the side is perfect and I think we will see positive things going forward,” said Haq while speaking on his YouTube Channel.

Inzamam-ul-Haq comes in support of Hasan Ali

Moving further into the conversation, Inzamam opened up on the most talked-about aspect of Pakistan cricket these days. The dropped catch by Hasan Ali on Shaheen Afridi’s delivery made everyone talk. While many criticized the cricketer, several turned up in his support.

The former cricketer stated that every player tries to give his best but some errors happen. In this case, Ali gave in his best to save the running catch but somehow it couldn’t be completed, he reckoned. As soon as Ali dropped the catch, Wade hit Afridi for three straight sixes to take Australia home with one over remaining.

“Every player gives his best but sometimes bad things happen. Hasan made a brilliant effort as it was a running catch, it went down but criticizing him is totally wrong,” he concluded.

Good thinking, Starc and Cummins have no idea how to hit sixes.

In hindsight a Pakistan v Australia final would have been great. Anyways good show from our lads. Prior to WC I really didn’t rate our team, I knew Semifinal could be reached, and that was only because we had an easier group. We should also not forget the fantastic support we had from the crowd.

If Wade can smash Shaheen for six just for fun and 1/67 from their 7 overs suggests otherwise.

Cummins and Starc aren't batsmen, they're bowlers, I'm not sure if you've realized that :)) . Every bowler has been hit for six and pretty much every tailender has hit a six or two in their careers, I still wouldn't bet on Stuart Broad hitting Starc for 6 in crunch situations even in these conditions. It's called probability.

Nothing will beat the vibe of 2007 and 2009 wt20s.

Plus the final this year was joint worst alongside 2010 final.
Every final has had some nerves, shifting momentums and some excitements but these two were plain one sided with no tension at all.

It was! Maybe cos we live in Dubai but my kids were really into it which was heartwarming to see as they are Canadian born ;)

Agree with op. Really enjoyed this. For me it was great because we made the rest notice again. They tend to focus on the big three alot and everybody else gets forgotten. It's good to see Pakistan and New Zealand showing people that there is cricket beyond the big three and the ipl or ashes.

Awesome tournament for Pak. We defeated the mighty Namibia, Scotland and Afghanistan. The NZ team who reached the final don't seem to be telling the world how happy they are being runners up. We can't stop dancing around for reaching the semi's. Our standards are just so low it's incredible.
