Guys let’s take this loss positively.

This might be blessing in disguise for Pak team, hopefully we will see no more of Iftikhar, Khushdil, Asif Ali, Hassan Ali etc. in the team for the WorldCup.

Had we somehow won this one, there would've been no changes in the team at all.

Hopefully it’s the eye opener we needed.

Cheers!:danish

Ah the Blessing in Disguise thread is back.

This is one of Pakistan's most inept performances of recent times.

There is no upside here.

It's not about team changes. It is about mindset. Pakistan lose it in big games.

Seriously speaking, who is going to remember the Asia Cup next month? The only matches that mattered were Pakistan vs India and we got a famous one that KO-ed India from the tournament.

Today was a poor batting performance but its not the end of the world. If we can chuck out the deadwood (Khushdil) and get some key players back in the side/in form (Shaheen, Babar), I see us making a good run in the WT20.

No, it just doesn't happen in Pakistan. You will see Khushdil, Asif, Iftikhar and Fakhar on Australia flight.

Getting the right team combination in for the T20 Worldcup which is literally 1 month away is more important than winning the useless Asia Cup.. IMO

This current team would've been a massive humiliation in the Worldcup.

Yes. Hopefully they will bring in better middle order batsmen now.
The pace attack of shaheen, naseem and haris is a huge plus.
Thankfully we did not lose to India/ Afg

Yes blessing of disguise for both India and Pakistan.

They will play in Finals :inti

Hopefully. It needs to be a blessing in disguise. A lot of players failed to perform and they was a lot of reliance on Rizwan and the bowlers.

It's only a blessing if you learn from it. If you're going to repeat the same thing again, then that's simply what you deserve.

Bro, the issue is not losing an asia cup to SL. the issue is the approach. You cant bat and score 30 in the PP. you need to cash in during the PP and go big.

The bowlers are WC but the batting has no clue. The RRR after that disaster of a first over by SL was 8. Yet Rizwan while out there made sure it jumped past 10 in no time.

You cant have 2 batsman playing at run a ball.

We see such threads after every major tournament or series but there is never a blessing in disguise. We will forever continue to play bits and pieces player and refuse to give up our 1990s cricketing mindset.

lol, they are gonna bring back shoaib malik, and we'll have the joy of watching him swat 90 mph starc bouncers with his tennis backhand technique.

pakistan has no middle order batters, haider has to come back, absolutely criminal to drop him after his form against the west indies.

but realistically i don't see many changes.

The biggest issue was our Babbar Sher not clicking. Him and Rizwan bat very well together and if one guy is going at a run a ball, the other ups the ante from the other end. Iftikhar chacha could not be an able replacement for Babar (obviously), which is why the RR got out of hand.

Khushdil and Ifti need to go. They are not good enough and unlike Asif, they are not willing to go for sixes from ball one. Asif needs to go to Australia because he's a selfless player and our most dangerous six-hitter.

Please can people name actual names to replace Fakhar, Chacha, Khushdil and Asif Ali.

Shan Masood is the obvious one but apart from that it's either brainless Haider or Shoaib Malik who is terrible outside of Asia anyway.

In Australia, this approach might be more useful - as Babar and Rizwan may get more purchase for their defensive pushes. Here the ball stops.

Also, what personnel will they bring? Who is missing? Shoaib Malik? Haider?

Give or take, it is Pakistan's first team.

Issue is not the team but the fact that they lose it completely in big games - time after time.

Main issue here is the approach by the 2 upfront. Thinking they can score 30 runs in the PP, so the rest can score 60 in the last 4.

Of course khushdil and ifti are not good enough. We all knew that. Rizwan is also a culprit here, he didnt learn from the previous games and just has 1 not working approach.

Shan and Haider slot in for Khushdil and Iftikhar. We need someone to play properly if the top order fails, rather than dot ball-slog technique.

Chacha and Buzdil are easy to replace. Yes, Malik may not be great against fast bowling but his prowess against spin is undeniable. He can be our designated spin-basher and can cover for some of our other batter's lack of ability against spin. I've not seen Masood or Haider bat recently but I have heard good things about them. They surely deserve a chance to get on that plane.

Fakhar is hard to replace and like Babar, we should hope he finds his touch again. That makes things much more simpler.

Not speaking specifically about Pakistan's loss, but there is no blessing in disguise in any loss. It's a phrase used by us fans to comfort ourselves after our team loses a match or series. Ideally, you would want your team to win every match it plays.

Rizwan's approach works. He needs the other guys to not copy his approach, however.

Even Fakhar doesn't deserve a spot right.

Khushdil ifti bye bye. Chachu is more of an odi player.

England series should see wholesale changes.

Another one? The game is here and now, the nonsense about the future needs to stop. I have been hearing about PKs young players for the last 40 years and it goes nowhere. Our selections are generally poor, terrible players get years and then still show nothing.

Rizwan's approach works. He needs the other guys to not copy his approach, however.

Usually it works but 49 ball 55 is just unacceptable. It should atleast be 70 even if he is to play the anchor role.

Maybe. Maybe not? The problem is, say you boot Khushdil and Fakhar out of the team. Who is going to replace them for the World Cup? You could possibly bring in Shoaib Malik for Khushdil and Sharjeel or Shan Masood for Fakhar but it seems unlikely Babar will like that.

Asia Cup is not that important. I think this was a good preparation for Pakistan. They can now select team accordingly for the World T20.

Mans out here advocating for Haider Ali and Abdullah Shafique lol

Who remembers Tim Southee bouncing the life out of them in the NZ 2020 tour?

All of a sudden Haider Ali is some kind of Messiah on our bench.

It was 2020 not 2022. They are the ones we can take otherwise you have no hope.

Tbf it’s not as bad getting out to Asif Ali which a fixer who you want got out to.

It is only a blessing if we learn from our mistakes. As we never do this it is just another loss where our on field problems have again been exposed.

Honestly speaking our team makes you believe in winning a tournament by one off performances against good teams. We suddenly start thinking this is our 'Best' team out of all the teams out there...Have been following PAK since childhood...and in pressure situations we start seeing dropped catches, misfieldings, poor batting, etc. One day it was Hasan Ali, another Fakhar, and today our best fielder Shadab. It brings down morale of our all players and spectators...Just look how that 9 extras over didnt let SL teams morale down..or when they were 58-5. They 'fought' their way back in as a Team..We simply loose it and start 'Panicking'...If no changes are done before WC i dont see myself watching all matches unless they somehow qualify for the Semis/final..

2020

2022

2024

2026

Nothing changes. Nothing improves. They are PCT batsmen. 15 years from now, you will see who they repeat the same mistakes again and again.

Babar and Rizwan are not going to sacrifice their opening positions as their rankings are at stake...and Fakhar/Middle order will keep playing like lost batsmen...with this approach you are not going to beat the Best teams out there...All the best for WC

This is best possible team Pak has.
If Babar and Fakhar comeback in form they can give any team a solid fight.

But should accept weak middle and lack of quality hitters. This is weakness which cannot be solved in 1.5 month time. Go with the guys who are there and hope for best
