Love Sri Lanka's fearless aggressive batting... Can we learn being fearless from them?

No words awesome fearless batting .... Srilanka is showing us how to approach modern day chase

Being fearless they are able to put pressure back in huge chase. Srilankan aggression has made India's bowlers go on back foot and their emerging good bowling unit is now looking as tlunder unit :)

Luck favors the brave and so far we have seen all this in Srilankans innings

Their opener scored 70-odd at a SR over 100.

I hope Azhar was taking notes. He gets a SR over 80 and thinks his job is done.

Not only good opening stand with good strike rate but also fearless batting approach

Batsmen created shots by taking calculated risk, they did not care who ever is bowling they just stuck to plan.

Maintain the RR close to six, rotate the strike and most importantly no 3-4 dot ball overs, while our batting doesn't matter what order they all play 3-4 dot balls over that gives easy gifts to opponent of self created pressure on themselves

That's the problem I suggest making batting order like this :)

1) Sharjeel
2 Fakhar
3) Sharjeel
4) Sharjeel
5) Fakhar
6) Fahim
7) Fahim
and then tail end bowlers

Time for reality check. Likes of Hafeez and Azhar cannot play fearless cricket and score runs..

Good luck expecting fearless batting from the likes of Azhar Ali and Muhammad Hafeez.

Are you for real? We don't want this slogging approach where hacks like Mendis and gunaratne play mickey mouse cricket. Hacks like Mendis have no place in Pak team.

Yea man. We need old-fashioned players with good defense like Azhar. After all, these are English conditions.

Sri lanka has a lot of pinch hitters and power hitters in the form of Gunathilaka, Munaweera, Kusal Perera, Dickwella etc who are all options for openers.

Pakistan with this squad should go with the following combo

1. Sarfraz Ahamed
2. Fakhar Zaman
3. Babar Azam
4. Shoaib Malik
5. Mohammad Hafeez
6. Imad Wasim
7. Faheem Ashraf
8. Shadab Khan
9. Amir
10. Hasan
11. Junaid

Imad Wasim is not an ideal No.6 , but you don't have better options. Hafeez will be important as SL has a lot of lefties. Plus, Hafeez is good against medium pacers and spinners. And he scores heavily against SL - generally.

Hafeez SR 75 and Azhar SR73. They are good players when Pakistan have to chase 220 runs or set target of 250. Pakistan need Waqar, Waseem and Shoaib akhtar in their peak to carry this batting line up and win anything in modern era.

No possible with Hafeez-Shazad-Azhar in the side.

Sri Lanka neutralised the threat of Jadeja with left hand batsmen whilst pakistan went in with a right hand heavy side.

Left hand openers tend to have a lot of success against India in Odi Cricket. I.e Butt-Dekock-Jamshed

Pakistan's batting is at least 5 years behind rest of world. Thanks to Misbah. Left a great legacy.

If it's on a used pitch then Pakistan will win hands down coz SL batting will struggle against your bowling on such a surface and your team can chase down or set a good target against their attack if you guys play sensibly.

The major difference being Sri Lanka have firepower throughout their batting lineup. Let's not forget, Upul Tharanga was missing out due to suspension and is a vastly improved batsman who would have feasted on this Indian attack had he been playing. They are really developing into a good batting unit.

Pakistan on the other hand have Azhar, Hafeez, Shehzad and Babar (who's been struggling to rotate the strike). Good luck trying to chase targets of 300+ with this top 4.

Cardiff

Small boundaries which will suit them as we have a few spinners.

True but your pace attack will be more than enough to trample over them coz that wicket is a little two paced and your bowlers could really hurt the Sri Lankans. But having said that your batting needs to support your bowling to carry you through to the next stage.

We have two left armers, a leggie and a left arm spinner too. The variety will help for sure but we have to execute I think the pacers will go yorkers, bouncers and cutters. It will be a good game to watch.

Dabang display by Lankans today, was totally in awe.

Pakistan can only play fearless if they replace hafeez with Harris and stop playing for 50s and their place.
