We are going through one of the worst phase of our cricketing history in terms of availability of talent (specially fast bowling). So naturally we see (atleast me) a ray of hope, a bacon of light in every newbie doing good at start of any domestic season.

I was just going through Quaid-e-Azam trophy scorecards and this guy caught my attention. Checked his cricinfo profile and found no information about him. He has made his F.C debut in this season and is playing his third match. With 17 wickets he is at second on the list of highest wicket takers. Have a look at his top wickets:

Khurram Manzoor (bowled), Umer Amin (LBW & caught) (got him twice), Toufeeq (bowled), Azhar Ali (LBW) and Muhammad Rizwan

Does any body know any thing about this lad. His bowling desc, age etc. Hopefully may be, may be we have found another gem from no where like Asif/Amir (in terms of talent). Set your imagination free to leap and dream for a while as there is no cost and restriction on it. Without leaps of imagination, or dreaming, we lose the excitement of possibilities.

For all we know he could be a 28 year late starter bowling 70 mph on under prepared tracks however there is an equal chance he is a 90 mph 20 yr old blowing teams out, would like to know more about him

Who ever this guy his, just give him time he might end up failing because two matches is no where near enough of a sample size.

A lot of cricketers have great starts and end up being failures.

Relax Dude, its not to hype some body but just for a little amusement

I think this is him against SNGPL where he took 5-69. He has played for Naseerabad Under-19s.

His action is quite similar to that Amir. He has good height and nice run up. I think Wasim would love to work with him. He is like reborn Amir.

Well 2-3 matches are nothing but bigger question is what we are doing with bowlers doing this this regularly for quite some time.

Isn't there a 40 year old bowler currently playing that's taken over a 100 FC wickets at 17? He only made his debut a few years ago IIRC.

Could have easily been like that.

In the picture the pitch looks quite green. Bazid on commentary said that the balls they play with are too bowler friendly and the pitches are under prepared.

Guys please have a look at the bowling of Mir Hamza , he looks low at pace but his bowling is exceptional and his fc record is also good

Impressive 45 wickets in 9 matches but he is wasting his talent with multan, should play for any department.

Majid Ali still doing well it seems.Looks quite young judging by the pictures. insha Allah he has pace and can swing the ball. May Allah bless him and help him develop. Who knows, he could be partnering Mohammad Aamir in a couple of years.(Never seen him play btw, but nothing is impossible and insha Allah he has some talent). 16 innings with 48 wickets and 21 avg. Mir Hamza also doing very well.

who exactly is this thread about? majid ali? mir hamza? im confused

Mir Hamza seems like a good prospect statistically, certainly an unpolished action but he swings it for sure!

im really impressed by maji ali gives no width , swing the ball , good height.

Does he seem pacier than Mir hamza , sadaf hussain , Zia ul Haq ?

seems 133-135 but more accurate than mir hamza and zia ul haq and brings the ball back in to the right handers , pretty tall as well get bounce because of height.

rashid latif from rawalpindi

He did not bowl well today and horrible captaincy by horrible keeper gulrez sadaf by removing him after first over when he was shapping the ball quite well into right handers, there was no need to replace him after just one over , should have bowled him 3overs on the trott

You agree with me ? Major mussu-100 b.lesner Blue_eyes

yes because he is a new bowl bowler , its his first season and he has taken 54 odf wickets in quaid e azam trophy gold, he isnt a death bowler , he is a type of bowler who you give 4 overs continuosly with new bowl , multan actually hasnt any other good bowler except him

Aamer Yamin? He seemed like a utility bowler to me. We don't need new ball bowlers for T20. Tanvir has more than decent new ball skills, and is sure to play T20 WC if he does not get injured. We need someone who can stop the flow of runs by bowling yorkers and slower ones, and the only bowler I have seen doing this is Imran Khan Junior. His pace is a concern though and international batsmen will gobble him up. Asad Ali has yorker skills, but again pace is the problem. Hammad Azam has been bowling some yorkers in this tournament.

sir we are talking about majid ali asfandyar

Didn't get the chance to watch him today. TalentSpotterPk

He bowled a good first over was swinging the ball gave 6-7 runs bit then poor captaincy by gulrez and he dint give him the 3rd over . Then he did not bowl well in the later overs lacked rhythm . Uptil now worst captain gulrez sadaf in super 8 t20.

havn't really seen him bowl, so cant really comment, but he is still to inexperienced and will need time

 1. Tall lad
 2. Young
 3. Good Smooth runup
 4. Nice action (falls away a little though)
 5. Potential for good follow up

Ingredients are there and he is only 21!

he has been selected for emerging camp but who will work on him their :vk :sanga

Great start to his first class career with 51 wickets in 10 games.

Never saw him bowl but i heard commentator praising him during the match against Lahore Lions where he leaked only 17 runs in 3 overs.

Lets see how he develops and how his next season goes.

hopefully he plays for HBL as they have weak fast bowling department

in only his first season he took 51 wickets and was one of the top wicket takers in quaid e azam trophy gold and shows how much he has got talent.

he is turning the heat on , today i think bowled with ecconomy of 3 in t-20 game on dead track where other bowlers usually go for 8 in over.

Been following this guy silently through out the tournament while waiting for someone to open a thread on him. Unluckily, none from the hype brigade even bothered talking about him. Then i remembered that only those who have played U-19 cricket get all the hype and these poor guys get ignored. The guy is bowling better than any of the lefties have seen so far which includes Amir and Mir Hamza. Has pace and has swing. Has a beautiful wrist and action. Would call his action as left handed Dale Steyn. He certainly doesnt has the pace of Dale but its not that bad.

He has taken 7 wickets in the tournament so far and has bowled well. Has came to the scene just recently and therefore has played only few matches.

Takes two wickets in two over. Whattay bowler. I see potential in this guy.

Wont be surprised if hype brigade avoids visiting this thread.

Surely, one for the future. Has pace , swing and a body of fast bowlers. Only thing i don't like about him is his runup. . . .

majid ali has been the second best bowler after imran khan jr. in this tournament.

This guy had a start to his Fc career just like sadaf hussain and Ehsan Adil with 50 wickets in first season.

That he impressed in Pentangular cup aswell as in T20 tournament.

There were high hopes from him but this year when he signed with a departmental team first time he played 3 games for KRL and he only took 7 wickets at an Ave of 32 and SR of 63. I don't know what's gone wrong with him either he isn't fit enough or what else ?

Remember all top 15 bowlers in QEA trophy are averaging below 20 with strike rate below 40 , 45 but Majid has been very disappointing.

Everybody was keenly looking at Majid , Amir , Zia , Amir and Mir in this season with high hopes from Majid. But uptil now Mir Hamza has been most impressive with his average and strike rate. Had he not been with pakistan A squad then he would have been at number 2 or number 3 spot the way he was going.

Anybody ? Any idea what happened to Majid ?

Good comeback by Majid.

He opened the bowling today with Sadaf hussain. Perfect combination.

Sadaf took 3 and Majid took 2.

Sadaf 8 - 0 - 32 - 3

Majid 7 - 1 - 39 - 2

Saw him in final of t20 comp looked superb.

Hope he can add few KPH, will be complete then.
