Ive been wrestling with an internal debate recently.

Does popular or majority opinion define a person?

Can a person, who believes they are good, clean hearted, giving - be defined as selfish, self centred and bad? If their actions which they believe define them to be good and a good friend or companion, are not known by the masses and otherwise not acknowledged and appreciated, therefore causing them to not be referred to in judgement?

Can they be correct in their beliefs of their person, even if they dont have many to stand up and back that belief?

Can the majority be wrong in their judgements?

I have a friend who believes they are a good person, always there for others, but get the short end of the stick in return, hard done by, where people either dont appreciate, or realise their good deeds and keep them in the memory bank.

Can it be a case of this person being unfairly and incorrectly judged? Can they really be the best of people, and simply for whatever reasons the majority dont form this view?

Interested to hear peoples thoughts..

In that case, can one have good character, but still have this masked or hidden in the public eye by reputation? Cab reputation be unfairly acquired?

I know good reputation can mask poor or bad character, but how about the other way around..

Can ones good character really be hidden and not acknowledged due to unfairly gotten reputation?

Reputation is meaningless. Ultimately one is defined by who they are and what they stand for. Reputation is subjective e.g. someone with a heart of gold but strong and outspoken liberal views would probably not have a very good reputation in the bible belt.

If someone has a good character, he/she won't be much concerned about reputation.
anyway, both are over rated.
