Manish Pandey has set high fielding standards in terms of taking catches at the Boundary line and is one of the most brilliant & talented fielders in World cricket at the moment. I put him only next to Raina and jadeja follows him as 3rd best Indian fielder in the current lot. This is not only about Sarfaraz's catch at the boundary line yesterday, but also other blinders he pulled off against Australia and in IPL in recent times. But I rate his Ranji Trophy's catch as the catch of the decade though. What's your favorite Manish Pandey's fielding moment?

And then we have Dhawan who gives himself a thigh-slap for every dolly he can hold on to.

I saw him doing that thigh-slap thing against HK batsmen too. ;) That's his signature swag, ain't it? ;)

Yeah, the same farzi swagger. It is sad that for every Pandey, we have a bunch of more established Dhawans and Jadhavs. Fielding is clearly not a priority today like it used to be during Dhoni's time.

I assume the Ranji catch is the second pic. Did a google search and found this:

Of course, as an Indian I am biased and think his catch of the Pakistani skipper was even better :)

Electrifying on field. At once, thought he could be the next big thing for India but has been a huge huge disappointment overall with the bat.

Second best fielder in India right now after Jadeja. I saw a low-quality video of that catch in the Ranji match and I couldn't believe what I saw. That's my favourite one.

If only Pandey could bat and score at over 100 S/R in ODI's and over 140 S/R in T20's.

Reality is, Pandey is a specialist fielder. His batting is terrible. Struggles to rotate strike as well as hit big shots.

He should be a back up at No.4 or No.5. He should never be the 1st choice selection.

Glad you like the Ranji Catch too. It sure is a catch of the decade for me.

Good fielder but has been poor with the bat.

Not really Avg of almost 40 and SR of 94. Has a match-winning 100 n.o. in Australia.

He had a couple of bad series against NZ & Aus at home in 2017. 5-6 matches in total there. But he didn't do a lot else that was wrong.

Problem is that the team management keeps playing him in T20Is which is not the right format for him. He is an ODI batsman. And I see him doing very well at no 4, if he is persisted with.

I agree. For some reason, management doesn't seem to like him esp. Dhoni. I think he is well equipped to be a part of playing XI.

Yes I meant his recent form has been poor.

Actually he has been in good nick in 2018. Has been the highest scorer in the last 3 India A tours. He was struggling in 2017, though.

Whether he can bring his current form into the senior team remains to be seen.

I really hope he makes a steady career in the senior team. It's would be a shame if we get to see his athleticism on the field only during IPL season.

He can surely be our No. 4 if he can rotate the strike well and improves his power game. His SR has been the issue and fails to find the gaps like Rohit, Kohli and Dhawan. Hope he can alter his game a bit and cement his No. 4 position.

He is the king of outfield. People don't notice much but some international players cover large ground and get to the ball lightning quick. Manish Pandey is one of them.
