If you guys are into a dark and gritty series which takes neo-noir and psychological elements to another level you need to check this TV series out! it's incredibly intense! The atmosphere is very unique for the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the distinctions work beautifully.

Just watched the pilot and it does great job establishing the main character, the world she lives in and her perspective on it. Even more than Daredevil, this feels like the most distinctly grown up and mature Marvel project yet because it has actual adult content and because there’s a world weariness and overall vibe here that is just different and distinct from the Marvel movies.

Watsupdoc you know am big fan of these type of shows, but I don't think you'll like it :)) given how you favour a light hearted atmosphere but if you decide to see this give the first couple of episodes a go. It's based on a character who endures a tragic end to her brief superhero career, Jessica Jones then tries to rebuild her life as a private investigator, dealing with cases involving people with remarkable abilities in NYC.

Netflix is also planning on releasing TV series for the following Marvel Characters; Luke Cage and Iron Fist.

The long term goal will be to include the main characters in Marvel's DareDevil, Jessica Jokes, Luke Cage and Iron Fist in a TV series about the Marvel Superhero group called The Defenders. Basically they are going to introduce the formula which has worked with the movies (introducing characters first in IronMan, Thor etc and then making the Avengers) and apply it to these TV series which have a distinct Marvel Cinematic Universe.

dashing_man Adil_94 on one of the sites I watched the episode and some guy in the comments was making fun of the fact that a white woman got with the black dude and I replied:

That's not just another "black guy". That's Luke Cage. He's a superhero too. Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Mat Murdock (Daredevil) and Danny Rand (Iron Fist) form the Marvel superhero group called the Defenders. In the comics, Luke and Jessica are actually married... and this was way back in the 1970s when that type of relationship was normally frowned upon. The relationship you're dissing was actually ground-breaking. Have some respect.

Lol I watched the first episode. It was nuts. :))

Casting Wes Bentley and Chloe Sevigny as a suburban couple might be a masterstroke.

Lady Gaga is showing some surprising acting chops.

Lady Gaga was brilliant in the pilot and I just somehow expected her to do well given how wacky she is felt that such a role would be perfect for her but man they've taken erotic gore to another level :)) I didn't watch the show beyond the first episode because I thought the show would return to its roots and give us something similar to Murder House but with the theme of a Hotel which has endless possibilities when it comes to suspense which is the bread and butter of horror; they had the chance to make something truly special and pay homage to the genre in its purest form

It's a really good show bro, I know for sure that you will enjoy it since we like dark characters and themes.

Yea I like more light hearted shows, although I did like Daredevil, just found the villain of that show to be very annoying and a cry baby - which diminished the viewing pleasure. At the moment I feel of all the super heroes show - Flash has had the best villain.

Will check this show out when I get a bit of time.

Which of the AHS season would you say is the best? Ive only seen the first one (really enjoyed it), trying to decide whether I should watch the rest.

Robert is into Comics and stuff to; you might like this show.

The lead is played by Jane-out-of-Breaking-Bad isn't she?

Am embarrassed to admit that I am watching Supergirl at present. Looks like DC are using television to introduce more of their superheroes to increase interest in the eventual Justice League movie.

Murder House was easily the best for me and I really enjoyed it. Asylum is also pretty good and am pretty sure you will enjoy it especially if you liked Murder House so I recommend that. Beyond those two seasons the series strays from it's identity in Coven which I liked but most were disappointed by the change in direction. Didn't watch Freak Show; although most weren't blown away going by the reviews.

Yeah it's her :)) I think you'll enjoy this series Robert, the universe is incredibly dark and a little similar to the atmosphere in the DC world. The focus on the narrative and production values make it a must watch.

Is that out?! I actually enjoyed the pilot, had watched it when it leaked. Probably, there's Green Arrow and Flash TV series out there to.

Good show, have watched the first two episodes but then I just went all out on Narcos and have since then not watched it. It has the sort of dark, isolated feel that both Daredevil and Gotham give out rather than the more lighter and flashier Arrow(absolute boll0cks) or Flash. From what I've seen, the choreography is pretty crap compared to Daredevil but it may get better however the general story line is interesting and its full of some rather.....attractive lets say, ladies which gets me pumped :D

Thing is choreography isn't going to be all that because the action will not be exaggerated like it was in DareDevil, they are two distinct shows and Jessica Jones is more of an Psychological neo noir thriller then an Action Thriller like DareDevil so I don't feel like it's fair to critique them based on that. I watch Gotham to and honestly the Original Series which Netflix release are just on another level :)) their production values can not be matched and since they are not constrained by TV Rating they are not limited when it comes to content. But what stands out most in these shows is the focus on narrative and the consistency they display when it comes to storytelling is amongst the best in the world; it's something you ultimately judge a TV show on irrespective of their budget or TV constraints. Yeah bro Arrow has too much filler I've given up watching it this season, it's usually good in bursts but that's about it. And thanks mate! I noticed that on one of the sites, one of the players gave an option to watch it in HD

It's alright mate, I remembered you liked DareDevil and thought this show would be right up your street :)); let me know what you think of the show once you seen it

haha true. It's more of a psychological rather than a woman just beating the daylight out of people. Maybe that's why I ent to keen on it because personally I prefer a guy just going around beating the sh1t out of people but even then I still like it. Arrow is crap. Loved that show in season 1, season 2 was meh and season 3....lol season 3 was horrendous. Season 4 is like you said too many ups and downs. Netflix are just on a whole other level. Daredevil season 1 alone put it at the best comic book show going and was only rivaled by flash.

anyhoo, how are you shaz ma praa I dunno if you remember me or nah cos I ent as active anymore...
ah the good old days of leagues with chaudry saab and your beef with Batman :)))

You rami :))) bare violent bro what's wrong with ya :yk2. I see what you mean but the story is pretty good and the lead female is pretty kick-ass she has some superhero abilities that are not being over used because she has retired from beating the hell out of people after what that demented rapy villian made her do I think. But perhaps she will get a bit more pagal as the season progresses but yeah it's more of a psychological thriller then a show where they will use excessive action. Also, if am honest the fighting sequences in DareDevil were amongst the best I've seen for any show! it was a throwback to those old BruceLee/JackieChan Movies and the Raid but yeah I see Jessica and DareIblees as apples and oranges. Easily couldn't agree with you more I think it's just that loads of bache prefer light hearted shows so prefer Arrow to a masterpiece like DareDevil :akhtar Yeah I remember you,I thought you got banned or something with Chaudry lmao remember when the three of us use to have cat-fights miss them man. Hope your good, am alright; I've had to replace you guys with some luloo's on PP :yk

Also Haz would you mind dating a kuri that is bare violent like Jessica or do you prefer to do all the mukkeh?

The raid honestly has the best fight scenes I've ever seen. Ever since I watched it, no American movie or show, or even chinese for that matter impressed me like that did. I was damn surprised at daredevil cos it was brutal as heck and was on par but the only drawback was the rather pointless flips he kept doing as kicks lol. What I'm gonna do is finish of Narcos then am gonna watch Jessica Jones rather than alternating cos I end up getting hooked on whichever I watch first and since its cold as heck I got a lot more freetime where am not out as much so I can finish it pretty quick.

And yeah haha am assuming its the becharas in the OP :)). And obviously a violent one...'lady in the streets, freaky in the sheets' ;-). But jessica's lil sidegirl, the blonde one who's name I've forgot- her all day every day

The original one I absolutely loved, the ones that came out after that not so much. Is Narcos any good? I keep forgetting to check that out, same here can't go wrong with these quality TV shows and some junk food to go along with it in this freezing cold weather kasme it's like hell froze over in this country. Lmao same, I want a palwan ni kuri. I forgot her name to, am lost in her beauty and damn am brunette guy but she was pretty fit

palwan ni kuri :))) apart from it being colder than the arctic, inconsistent weathers irritating too, one min bright sunshine, next its a damn monsoon lol
Narcos is crazy, got the perfect mix between psychological and beat the f out type genre. Not to mention it makes things like 50 shades of grey look PG :ghalib

watched 2 eps so far. it's decent but i don't know how they can carry a whole season on the back of a one bad guy who isn't even that scary.

I know, brown thugs can't handle it man; I need a palwan ni kuri to keep me warm. Wow, that's a show I have to check out sounds like something I'd really enjoy. Before Chaudry was fired by PPWarnABro he was supposed to star as the secretary in 50 shades of grey and me as Mr.Grey; we both had to pull out after his botch.

Oh she is the same girl who played Jesse's girlfriend in Breaking Bad who choked on her vomit while in a heroin induced coma and died.

Every time I see her, it reminds me of that horrible scene and I can't think of anything else.

Oh the same immoral girl who breaks the trust of her father and sleeps around with a drug addict. Good thing she died.

I wouldn't be that judgmental. Drug addiction is a serious debilitating problem. Actually, Jesse was less of a drug addict when he met her. He was into meth while she was into heroin. Both bad but heroin is considered to be the worst form of drug addiction.

If someone played Max Payne 1 & 2 this show has a very similar feeling to it starting from the introduction.

Episode 6 was great. Rape and Abortion are incredibly hot button topics for any series to tackle, much less a Marvel series. But this show has proven it’s not afraid to really delve into uncomfortable subject matter, and examine just how terrifying a supervillain like Kilgrave would be.

Should I watch this or Narcos?

I've not watched Narcos but Jessica Jones has been brilliant so far. The poster haz in this thread said that Narcos is a pretty good crime thriller with some decent action in it to.

I am on the final episode. Like I said its good but its not Daredevil.

You can tell they are gearing from a Marvel TV universe as well. Heroes for Hire with Iron Fist, Luke Cage, Jessica might be up next. Who knows.

But I would love to see a Spiderman TV series.

But I would love to see a Spiderman TV series.

It's the same universe but two distinct shows; Dare Devil is more of an Action Crime Drama while Jessica is a neo noir Psychological thriller. I personally wouldn't say one is better then the other for that reason and in the confines of their respective premise the screenplay has been executed beautifully. Am on the 7th so far where they play house :)). That would be pretty epic wouldn't it, SpiderMan would be tailor made for the current MCU universe in the TV world but extremely unlikely given that they are going to introduce the character in Captain America first and take it from there. Sony and Marvel finally agreed to collaborate on producing future movies on the character given how Sony have underperformed as far as the reboots are concerned. It would have been perfect though to introduce Spidey through the telly; would add more layers to his development and his transition to the big screen would be a lot smoother.

Just finished it. It was interesting to see Claire from Daredevil play a key role in the final episode as she helps Jessica and Luke.

I have a feeling we are going to see a team up soon or some cross show collaboration between Jessica and Daredevil in the future.

All in all, not bad but not that great either. Some of the plot lines felt rather contrived. It is interesting how they keep the origin of Jessica and Luke's powers so vague and unclear whereas Kilgrave's origin becomes the center of the focus towards the end. I am guessing they plan on something big for how both of them got their powers.

I like Jessica's character. She has a cool thing going for her but as soon as you see the words Marvel and Netflix Original, you are bound to start making comparisons with Daredevil, and Daredevil just set the bar too high. The whole show and the entire cast of characters was multi faceted and multi layered with various, well defined factors that drove the character motivations. You don't get treated with similar depth with Jessica Jones.

Solid effort though. I would certainly watch season 2 when it comes out.

I just finished watching it; there is going to be some kind of cross show collaboration at some point but the ultimately they want all these characters to form The Defenders; which will be a series with the likes of DareDevil, Jones, Cage and Iron Fist in it. Yeah, we only scratched the surface with Cage; there will be more to come when they release as series focussing on his character and probably will cover more depth when it comes to Jessica in the second season.

Yeah it's the same universe and all so the comparisons are inevitable but for me they are two distinct shows given their polar opposite genre's which is unique for comic book characters. The persona of Murdock is compelling given the origins of character and his attributes but Jessica Jones is incredibly intriguing to. Jessica Jones isn't necessarily having a better time or life than Matt. In fact, you could even argue that Jessica has a worse life than Matt. Matt at least has his co-workers and surrogate family Foggy and Karen. Jessica, as she says in the first episode, has no friends whatsoever. Still Jessica has this wit and snark that makes her fun to watch. She is suffering big time but is able to act that pain into something more entertaining than very manly brooding. Jessica Jones is a dark series but the main character's sarcasm injects the series with quiet a bit humour. Daredevil needed to rely the secondary characters of Foggy and Karen for the series to seem like less of a practice in misery. The contradictions of humor, heroism and pain make Jessica fascinating.

JJ also had clear sense of self reflection and tone. It was a gritty noir story about the seedy crimes that go unnoticed with a villain that incredibly creepy not that he out did the Kingpin.

I view both series individually and on that basis can't say one is better then the other although am a bigger fan of the DareDevil character than Jessica Jones so ought to favour that series but in terms of the writing, directing and execution of the narrative there is little to separate the two; both are brilliant shows and thank God Neflix picked them up. Interestingly, JJ has received greater critical acclaim then DareDevil although it's only a difference of 6% on Metacritic.

Jessica Jones became the first Marvel TV show to win an Emmy award. Will be a long wait for season 2 because it wont be released until 2018 at the earliest.

On 9th episode of Luke Cage ,except 3rd episode every episode is amazing with various dimensions to villains and lot of black music and black culture.

Amazing how Marvel has finally tapped into the black market too now with this.

Cons:
Sometimes acting of luke cage can be corny but other than that its pretty amazing.

I'm on the 7th ep myself. Yeah I'm loving it so far although I feel like it's a bit of a watered down version of a urban area IMHO.

Love the music and love the cinematography- the way they get right up close to the actors' faces.

Misty Knight, oh my :murali

Just started this JaDed on the first episode! With uni starting next week will be a while before I finish :)) I've been watching Stranger Things to and the Spectacular Spider-Man (2008) to see what the fuss was about and OMG it's on par with the show in the 90's if not better and takes great inspiration from the original incarnations of spidey in the source material

Just finished season 2 last week. Was a bit of a let down from Season 1,especially towards the end.

Apparently season 3 is expected to start shooting soon and release in 2019.

My ranking of the currently released seasons of the Netflix Marvel shows:

1-Daredevil S1
2-The Punisher S1
3-Daredevil S2
4-Jessica Jones S1
5-Luke Cage S1
6-Jessica Jones S2
7-The Defenders
8-Iron Fist

Luke Cage,Daredevil S3 and Iron Fist S2 are expected to release in 2018 while Jessica Jones S3 and The Punisher S2 are expected to release in 2019.

Are these shows not part of the marvel universe? (Iron man, Spider-Man etc?)
Did these shows also have comic books?

You didn’t tag me but I’ll answer anyway lol

These shows, technically, are part of the same cinematic universe as the Avengers, the Guardians and all the others. The shows contain several references to the events of the first Avengers film.Tony Stark and Cap are name dropped as well as Hulk etc.Agents of Shield is another series that’s on a cable channel in the US.However while AoS has appearance from film characters, the same isn’t true for the netflix shows. No characters have crossed over.

Yeah, all these characters are pretty famous in the comics, especially Daredevil,Cage(who even leads the Avengers at one point) and The Punisher.

I wished Infinity War had a cameo from them :(

thanks

so why have some characters gone the movie route and some tv show route and no cross over

and tbh the Marvel characters in movies are ones which have been popular and i have known them since childhood. Whereas apart from daredevil these tv show characters were never that popular among the general public

Obviously some characters are more famous and will get movies e.g Spiderman,Thor,Iron Man and Captain America.Their stories are more popular and they are better known so it works to make a movie to rake in the dollars.Daredevil and The Punisher are the best known out of the Marvel Universe and they have had movies that bombed at the box office. So Marvel went with making shows.Punisher is only a spinoff. The character was just meant ti be a part of Daredevil S2.

However the Netflix series are quite dark, gritty and definitely PG.If you didn’t know that they were Marvel series you would be surprised. So the themes of the movies and shows also don’t match. The movies are more humorous and not as mature.

Another reason for no crossovers is the head of Marvel TV and Marvel Studios do not have a good relationship. So they don’t even try to crossover the characters.

I don’t think they should crossover the characters regularly.Just a couple of cameos or fight scenes to assure viewers that they are part of one universe. And also so that movie goers aren’t confused by them appearing.

They all a separate entity from the movies but all the Marvel TV shows on Netflix are linked to the same universe and there was a cross over with the show called The Defenders

JaDed What did you make of season 2 ?
