Great to see the cheaters and Eddie fail again.

Time for a Perth win tomorrow and then another grand final defeat at home.

How could Stars have so many gun players while the likes of Thunders, Strikers struggle to field international players!

Not fair imo.

^^Paine chose the wrong platform to utter those comments. But I do feel for the other franchises. There would definitely been suspicions about the way the whole players poaching works.

Is this guy Eddie McGuire really a man with a lot of influence!?

Eddie McGuire is a massive figure in Melbourne and is the president of the biggest sporting club in the country (Collingwood).
He's widely hated by the supporters of every other team and ironically is famous for publicly whinging about other teams breaking the salary cap.
And funnily enough Collingwood are infamous for dominating seasons and choking in the finals.

Also use to run Channel 9.

So this is Melbournes stars 1st defeat in the whole competition and they are out! how gutting must that be

But how could he buy his way into BBL admin? He surely can't poach all these t20 specialists in the allotted salary cap.

He was asked to be the BBL Chairman because of his work at Collingwood. He doesn't spend any of the money. The clubs are owned by the state cricket associations. Sporting clubs in Australia are either owned by the members sports associations.

The suspicion is that CA wants a strong team in Melbourne (stars) and Sydney (sixers) because they are the biggest markets and will provide for the most revenue, tv rights and audience.

And that CA is turning a blind eye to salary cap manipulations.

So that makes McGuire the honorary president of Stars right?
Going by what you said regarding maximizing revenue etc., it would be better to discard the other Melbourne and Sydney teams and play games on Home and away basis. That would enhance the quality even more and other teams would get stronger as well.

Nah. Two Melbourne and two Sydney teams gives a match in Melbourne and Sydney every round (good for TV) and a 'derby' match/.
Otherwise they'd just have kept the Sheffield Shield teams.

McGuire is the full President/Chairman of the stars.

CA definitely has started to operate like BCCI, thinking about making money all the time. The fairness (and quality to a lesser extent) can go to hell.
