Many thanks to robelinda for the answers.

===============

PakPassion.net: What brought you to PakPassion?

robelinda:
Well, I joined PakPassion 10 years ago, like a few other cricket forums it was a place to share my collection of Pakistan cricket videos, I was keen to see if there was any interest among the fans. I’m not all that interested in a lot of cricket discussion online, never been keen on arguing with people, or endless comparison debates, I prefer watching and enjoying the footage!

PakPassion.net: Why do you do it? Surely its a lot of pain with the constant danger of being harassed by "authorities"?

robelinda:
Yes, it’s constantly a total pain, and being harassed by the copyright police is almost a daily occurrence. There are many days I want to throw it all away, but I guess I am stubborn, love the game of cricket so much.

PakPassion.net: Among all your collections, which is the one you are most proud of? Also which video you most wish to upload but can't?

robelinda:
My favourite videos I've made are the one-hour compilation of direct hits by Ricky Ponting, and the 71 bowled dismissals by Curtly Ambrose. There are literally thousands of video I've made but cannot upload due to copyright danger, I make videos for myself all the time! Anything from 1992 onwards is a problem.

PakPassion.net: Your thoughts on those that are trying to block you from uploading videos and getting your Twitter account closed?

robelinda:
My thoughts are that they own the rights to the footage, and there’s nothing stopping them from shutting down accounts like mine who infringe on those copyrights. It’s a miracle I still exist, it’s not easy to stay alive online doing what I do.

PakPassion.net: Your favourite clip involving Pakistan?

robelinda:
Has to be either WASIM AKRAM MCG 1989/90 amazing bowling vs Australia, or the famous Inzamam run out compilation!

PakPassion.net: Your favourite game/moment played in Australia that didn't involve team Australia?

robelinda:
I have a few, the 1992 World Cup was massive, so many neutral matches that were amazing, but I enjoyed all the 1980s and 1990s World Series tournaments here in Oz where we got to see various different matchups of teams, like WI v SL in 84/85, or the great 99/00 summer with India and Pakistan touring here.

PakPassion.net: From where do you get such a large variety of cricket videos?

robelinda:
All from my personally recorded archive, been recording cricket off TV since 1982.

PakPassion.net: What is your favourite thing about Pakistan cricket?

robelinda:
The confidence that excellent fast bowlers will continue to be produced, always!

PakPassion.net: Your all-time favourite cricketer?

robelinda:
As a kid, it was Steve Waugh, overall I think it's Adam Gilchrist.

PakPassion.net: Inspired by your clip of Matthew Elliott pulling Allan Donald for a flat six, who was the best player of short-pitched bowling you've seen?

robelinda:
Richie Richardson, Viv Richards. Both hooked and pulled mercilessly.

PakPassion.net: How did you obtain footage of 90s cricket?

robelinda:
I was a teenager in the 90s so it was easy to record all the 90s matches off TV.

PakPassion.net: What are your personal favourite classic cricket moments of the 2010s?

robelinda:
A few, 2015 WC was good. 2013/14 Ashes. 2014 Aus tour of South Africa. 2017 India v Australia Tests were great. Any time England loses. Haha.

PakPassion.net: Do you ever felt like 'Why am I doing all this (taping the games)?' and felt like giving it up? If so, kindly share what still kept you going on.

robelinda:
Well, generally taping the matches is so easy now that it barely requires any effort at all. I travel a lot and can record the matches remotely. If it was the same difficulty as it was in the ’80s then I definitely would have given up by now!

PakPassion.net: Do you think it is fair to compare players of different eras? Do you think the players of the 80s/90s era were better than today’s players or is it just a myth?

robelinda:
I have always steered clear of comparisons arguments, it’s pointless. I just enjoy watching and don’t get sucked in by quite tiresome discussions and comparing through the eras, it's completely stupid I feel!

PakPassion.net: How much time do you spend on collecting cricket videos?

robelinda:
Well generally I don’t spend that much time doing it, my archive is well managed now, but since the lockdown here in March, it's given me time to re-organise my footage, which has been fun. When I go to find something, in particular, I want to find it quickly!

PakPassion.net: Which is that one clip that you are frustrated that you haven't got and what is so special about it?

robelinda:
Well there’s many, but Test series like 1988/89 West Indies vs Pakistan would be amazing, and 1975/76 Australia vs West Indies Test series. Those two seem like they would be incredible to watch now, from all the famous reports, but no footage of any quality exists.

PakPassion.net: Which one would you rate highest for Australia: Ashes win in England, Border-Gavaskar series win in India, ODI World Cup win - and why?

robelinda:
Well all 3 are important, and I’ve seen Australia win and lose all 3 over the past 40 years. I think the importance depends on the current situation, for instance, the Ashes win in 2001 didn’t really mean much, nor did the 3rd or 4th WC final win. But now if we won the Ashes in England after almost 20 years there it would be important.

PakPassion.net: What was the hardest defeat for you - and how long did it take to get over it?

robelinda:
Not really a tough question because I was never really interested in winning or losing, or even watching Australia. I preferred to enjoy watching the players I liked, regardless of where they were from. As a youngster, I got an equal amount of enjoyment watching Steve Waugh hit a ton or Brian Lara or Ijaz Ahmed. No matches stand out that bothered me that Australia lost, though historically the 1 run test loss to West Indies in 1993 was a bit rough!

PakPassion.net: Which players (current or retired) do you interact with and how much do they appreciate your work?

robelinda:
Since the lockdown many former players have tweeted their thanks for footage I’ve shown, lots of England players like Alec Stewart, Mike Atherton, Nasser Hussain, Adam Hollioake, and some Aussies like Stuart MacGill and Damien Martyn.

PakPassion.net: If you had to pick one batsman out of Lara and Tendulkar, who would you pick and why?

robelinda:
Need more detail as to why I’m choosing between them! But, Sachin is the best batsman I’ve seen.

PakPassion.net: Who will win the next Australia v India Test series (if it happens in Australia)?

robelinda:
India. Easily.

PakPassion.net: IPL vs World T20 - which should take precedence and why?

robelinda:
The world T20 can happily be thrown into a giant bin and set on fire! Useless tournament. I actually think IPL serves more purpose, I am all in favour of domestic T20 being the only T20 that gets played. International T20 is rubbish, lots of meaningless short series.

Fantastic yet very challenging work he does. A lot of respect for him, and hope he keeps doing it for a long time!

I am a big fan of Robelinda. I never knew he was in PakPassion. I always check his videos.

Really astonished by robelinda's thoughts here. I hope he was not trolling. Pretty sure even Indians don't have any hopes!

Anyway, great interview with the great man. Rob has a separate fan base in the cricket community and he almost always has those really pivotal moments of the glorious past when you want to just go back and enjoy. Your contribution to the cricket world will always be remembered Rob!

Have hopes of competing but not as much as he apparently has (almost felt like being trolled). Good to see Sachin as the best batsman though :P

:)) Sachin is the best batsman you have seen and yet you troll his fans so much. Anyways, nice interview.

What he mean to say?international cricket is a thrash? Then why is he keeping 30yr Old thrashes in his archive. Domestic leagues should never get precedence over an international event

because they get triggered so easily so it must be lot of fun

hes saying international t20 is trash. which i tend to agree with asides from maybe WT20

I personally rate CT 2017 win over WT20 win

A good read.

Well done robelinda Keep up the good work mate and do add clips here too.

ok he is correct by some point but i dont think WT20 is such to be called trash.if WE quit wt20 and intl series and just starting domesticating cricket then it wont be a gentleman game anymore but just a money heist. Example look at windies cricket they priortize leagues over national team and how flop is windies cricket now, almost playing against Associate teams.

real fan favourite, long may you continue providing us with great cricket vids

well they are World T20 champs

Interested to read he doesn't like comparing players. It's one thing I enjoy doing.

Great read.

Thanks for sharing the footages Robelinda!

Appreciate it.

Is this THE Roblinda? Wow never knee you were on Pakpassion. Thank you for the amazing videos!

Yep it’s me. And thank you!

My profile pic from a decade ago doesn’t look like me anymore! I guess 10 years will do that.

Hey Robelinda
I would have been so productive in life and gotten so far if it wasn't for your channel.
Thanks a bunch!

Slog yes they are World champion cox they are playing with full potentials in worldcup(because leagues didnt took place in that span),check windies other records excluding worldcup

One of the most influential cricket people around. Thanks for making this happen PP and Rob.

I digress. Twenty20 cricket is the future, boomers need to embrace change not fight it :) /

Good interview.
Well done robelinda

please explain this why?

PakPassion.net: Who will win the next Australia v India Test series (if it happens in Australia)?

robelinda: India. Easily.:wave

I think India will loose

Just found the clip of Warne setting up Stewart for that flipper in 94-95.

Thank you so much!

We all grew up watching this guy's cricket videos.

If it closes down forever, than what a sad end to his Youtube Channel

Robelinda's account was suspended. Wow!

He is like the Don Bradman of cricket archives. He should be employed by ICC and his videos should be on ICC website.

He should have just taken those videos down. Seems like this company has bought the rights to a number of home matches in Bangladesh.

Was going through the case they have and it seems they managed to work out an agreement with another similar YT channel.

Copyright is one of those disgusting realities that you're better off accepting. Robelinda has shown himself to be stubborn in the past. He is no doubt a legend and has given a lot of joy to cricket fans, but he needs to know when to back down. He literally paid nothing for the footage apart from his tireless dedication and hardwork.

I too have an enviable collection of cricket games dating back couple decades, but having suffered copyright pain, just decided to forget about sharing it and keep it for myself and my friends to enjoy. On one occasion I actually saw the company that had stricken my channel carrying a video I had made (because they didn't bother to blur out my YT channel name from it :rp ). That's how copyright works lol

You are probably saying this because BCCI and Indian media are very rigged with this and are often the ones claiming copyright' :)

Thing is, because of Robelinda, cricket videos exist. Many of us who never saw the likes of Wasim or Imran bowl, got to see it because of robelinda's video.

He has a bigger cricket video vault than ICC. Thing is, ICC or other media's that hold rights to the highlights or games, dont bother showing those videos or footage. No one has access to them. Atleast Robelinda makes them public.

Also, Robelinda himself also steal videos, that is true. I once found out that Misbah bowled in international cricket. So i went digging for the video but it did not exist. So i looked up for the highlights of that game. Once i found the highlights, i cut out the parts where Misbah bowled and uploaded. Robelinda i think used my video footage later on.. lol.

But thing is someone needs to upload these videos. Like there are debut game videos of players that Rob has.

ESPN's whole business works on highlights and videos. Some company should buy these highlights and monetize them on youtube.

lol I have been critical of certain aspects of the BCCI even before Jay Shah took over.

The company that took down my channel was Indian :rabada2 .

I have no respect for the concept of copyright the way it is currently enforced but then, I also understand and accept how it works. I have consulted with Willow TV when they had an office in Bengaluru, so I kind of know how these things happen. You can't really blame the companies either who pay huge amounts of money to acquire copyright. But where it becomes dumb is a 30 second twitter video being taken down. That's just bizarre.

Regarding old footage, the problem is when these rights were sold to TV companies, digital video didn't exist. So in hindsight, they are often considered as being bundled together. Some of these companies might have then sold VHS/DVD rights to other companies, who might not even exist anymore. The ICC can't really do anything now unless there are loopholes regarding certain amount of time having passed. It all depends on how those initial contracts were worded. It's all a mess tbh.

Need something equalent of scihub or Libgen in books as an alternative to youtube videos
