His dumb slogging is really self-destructive. He’s too short to be a Specialist Test bowler - he needs to get his batting up several grades.

Pakistan needs Hasan Ali to join Shadab Khan or Faheem Ashraf at 320-8 and reliably stay at the crease for 90 minutes until that becomes 390-9.

A quick Hasan Ali slog will leave Pakistan 320-9 more often than it takes them to 380-9.

Batting properly down the order is really important. Both Tests that Pakistan won on the recent tour were won by the batting of Shadab Khan and Faheem Ashraf.

And the one they lost they lost because of the runs added by England’s last 3 wickets.

Shadab has the kind of swag this Pakistan team has been desperately lacking since the Wasim era (I used to enjoy seeing Afridi in the team for this reason alone sometimes). It's great to see a young lad with terrific self confidence like this.
