Talking on a cricket forum on an indian channel on stage at Lords cricket ground with Younis Khan, wasim akram, harbhajan and Sunil Gavaskar, he gave a damning verdict on Pakistan cricket

Misbah: " In the last 10-12 years there has crept a culture in Pakistan domestic cricket which have pitches which are dead and unprepared and balls which are useless. the conditions are so bad that even if I bowl for 5-6 overs, I can get 2-3 wickets. When you go and play against a south african domestic team on tour for example you dont know what is going on because their standard of balls and pitches are so much better. this has impacted Pakistan's biggest flare, fast bowling. On those Pakistani pitches, the faster the bowler, the more he gets hit.
the swing seam bowlers who can bowl 120-130 kph start getting wickets and fast bowlers confidence is shattered. furthermore, many a times, pakistani domestic matches innings end within 30-50 overs in 4 day matches instead of 80-90 overs, this doesnt give spinners any time to play and no spinners can develop their game as a result, currently pakistan domestic cricket has no competent spinner. we recently lost Shadab to injury and there is no competent backup spinner who can wrist or finger spin and have mystery balls, this has resulted in teams even like australia to chase down 300-350 plus scores when in previous years we were confident in getting even a strong batting team like australia if we ever scored over 250"

He's right on the money. Improve your domestic setupfor better players or else keep getting toyed away by every major team and be happy with fluke wins like CT.

This is where Wasim Khan will have to do his magic. He has to revamp the whole structure.

No wonder we have become borderline minnows. We have stopped producing world class players.

Everyone comes on TV and cries about grassroots level, domestic, infrastructure but no one does jack about it... heck if you start today you won't even see the fruits until few years pass by.. But everyone comes out and make smart *** comments:jk

He might be right but how about our epic failures in 2003,2007 and 2015 world cups. I think domestic structure was ok in early 2000’s but results in world cups have been below par.
In 21st century only 2011 world cup was where team did ok job.
Mentally fragile players, that is the real issue.
Imam, hafeez, babar, sarfaraz, hasan ali were involved in that epic Abu Dhabi failure of chasing 174 in 1st Test. They have this habbit of gifting victories. Then after 10-12 defeats they manage to win one big game and euphoria of that win makes our fans forget about all epic phaintees.

Isn’t he, Akram and Mohsin Khan in some of committee that was founded a few months back by Mani?

These people all have a chance to improve Pakistan cricket but they never do. They go where the money is. All they do is whine and cry.

we dont have an akhtar or saqlain or ajmal since 2014

He is right. Our poor domestic structure is affecting all aspects of our cricket. You want to know why Pakistan drop catches in important games is because in domestic cricket slips are hardly required due to the ball not carrying. Fielders aren't use to diving due to the poor outfield. And also these games are played at such low intensity and no crowd. These guys are hardly use to catching under pressure. Hence our drops in important games.

All the ailments that afflict our cricket stems from our domestic structure.

From our ineffective new ball bowling, spinners who can't turn the ball, fast bowlers lacking stamina, dreadful fielding and fitness standards, and batsmen with conversion rates - the blame is on our domestic system and those overseeing it.

In some ways, a group stage World Cup exit will prevent a CT17-style papering over the cracks and make the case for reform impossible to argue against.

Misbah should be asked first that why he is telling this now .... after 10-12 years, when he was among the most influential persons in PAK cricket for most part of those 10-12 years. This is another problem with PAK retired greats - they become wise (& honest) after retirement .... in front of TV camera. This guy kept silent that time because those domestic cricket (as a whole) supplied him players for his fortress - another God forsaken place for cricket.

And, he was the main culprit for gradually pushing PAK into the most boring teams around including some associates as well - one by one he closed the door of PAK team for every batsman with a bit of flair - Umar, Amin, Jamshed, Maqsood, Sharjeel - loaded the team with grafters; didn't ever promote attacking bowlers, didn't try to groom a single fast bowling all-rounder and the decline of new ball bowling started from his time.

Now, Misbah is talking smart because he doesn't fancy his chances much in PSL any more. Each & every points of his latest statement had been mentioned, discussed several times here in PP, therefore it's not rocket science and Misbah isn't the one to discover the secret. But, I guess now is the time to talk smart, because this time it might help him in his next career.

Misbah himself hasn't done much for Pakistan batsmanship under him the WC 2019 top order would've been:

Azhar
Shehzad
Shafiq
Younis
Misbah
Malik
