I fail to see this as slightly. One of your experienced campaigners and according to you a 'top' 'top' 'top' batsman. Who was a legend in the 80s according to you. Almost negligible performances. Oh and check out the strike rate of 71 that you so like to bash about.

The strike rate was above par for that era still. As I already pointed out, he was a better ODI bat in the 80s and superior in Tests in the 90s. Both were far more difficult eras for batting than the present, anyway.

Yes I was. He did bring great shame to the nation but so did Amir, Asif and Wasim, if we can distinguish between their cricketing skills and character, why can't we do the same for Malik?

People have incredible amnesia. I dont blame them totally because the match fixing episode totally destroyed whatever Malik did in his career. But people need to remember that during the 90's, it was not Inzamam who was Pakistan's main batsman, it was Salim Malik. Salim Malik was the prized wicket for the opposition. Salim Malik would be the guy who would always play the anchor, the finishing role while the likes of Ijaz and Inzamam would play more aggressively and take risks.

Salim Malik was a magnificent stroke maker, a very wristy player who was excellent against both swing and spin. He could also play a destructive innings and had the ability to slog in the end. Misbah, on the other hand, was a very limited batsman.
