Good! Someone like him needs to focus on Tests and put the garbage T20 format in the bin which he has now done.

Good luck!

------------------------------------
Australian men’s fast bowler Mitchell Starc has announced his retirement from T20 International cricket to focus on his Test and ODI career.

In Starc’s absence, selectors today named a squad for the upcoming New Zealand series.

In his 65 T20 Internationals Starc’s 79 wickets places him second on the all-time list for Australia behind Adam Zampa, demonstrating his importance to the Australian setup.

Mitchell Starc said: “Test cricket is and has always been my highest priority.

“I have loved every minute of every T20 game I have played for Australia, particularly the 2021 World Cup, not just because we won but the incredible group and the fun along the way.

“Looking ahead to an away Indian Test tour, the Ashes and an ODI World Cup in 2027, I feel this is my best way forward to remain fresh, fit and at my best for those campaigns.

“It also gives the bowling group time to prepare for the T20 World Cup in the matches leading into that tournament.”

Chair of national selectors George Bailey said: “Mitch should be incredibly proud of his T20 career for Australia. He was an integral member of the 2021 World Cup winning side and, as across all his cricket, had a great skill for blowing games open with his wicket taking ability.

“We will acknowledge and celebrate his T20 career at the right time, but pleasingly he remains focussed on continuing to play Test and ODI cricket for a long as possible.”

Cricket Australia CEO Todd Greenberg praised Starc’s T20 career and decision to focus on Test and ODI cricket for the foreseeable future.

“It’s important to Mitch at this time of his career to make decisions which allow him to extend his Test and ODI careers as long as possible, which we fully support,” he said

“Mitch has prioritised playing for his country and made significant sacrifices. To allow the next crop of fast bowlers a clear path to the T20 World Cup early next year is another example of putting team first."

I don't think he will play until 2027 but good for him to choosing test cricket.

:kp

T20 internationals are good for popularizing sports. But established nations get nothing out of it. Their players would rather prefer playing leagues than international T20s which is 90% played by fringe players anyway except in world T20.

Earlier , he had said he was looking to retire from ODI cricket.

Looks like he's changed his mind now.

Fakhar's sixes ruined his career.. LOL
He has hit grand total of 3 sixes lol Karn Sharma tailender whacked him for 3 sixes as well in 20th over. Rohit sharma whacked him for 29 runs in one over against Starc. Gill in tests has scored 170 runs in 189 balls from Starc. He travelled against Afghanistan too. IT is not new he leaks run.

At the peak of his powers from 2014-2019, Starc was one of the best t20 bowlers in the world.

Lmaoooo.

Starc Winner of 2015 world cup + best bowler of the tournament

Starc winner of 2021 T20 World cup took 9 wickets, granted alot of people dont give him credit for this as he was expensive including a final spell of 4 overs, 60 runs 0 wickets which is fine.

Starc Winner of 2023 Wtc, took 4 overall wickets including that beautiful wicket of Kohli and crushed india's hopes and dreams but yes once again he wasnt the best bowler

Starc winner of 2023 wc, took 16 wickets and got gill, Rahul and shami out. Despite not being the best bowler his wicket once again broke India's back.

Has been a nightmare in Ashes. Has 400 test wickets, Has the fastest 5 wicket haul of all time, Is arguably the greatest pink ball test bowler in history.

His 2015 wc bowling record + pink ball test record will never be surpassed. Don't put Fakhar mext to him even if fakhar is my favourite Pakistani player currently.

Starc's only blackmark is that he wasnt able to win an away BGT series vs India.

If Starc was Indian @Devadwal would basically ignite starc on PP lol 😆. But because hes Australian he needs to play the avg game and peddle a Bumrah narrative instead. 🤣🤣

Starc has had the greatest career of any bowler in this generation. Now where he stands as a bowler in terms of ability with the likes of steyn, Shami, Bumrah, Rabada? Idk.

But the fact remains career wise his career is better. And his 5 wicket haul record, pink ball test record and 2015 wc record wont ever be broken. Even Mcgrath doesnt have a wc record close to starc.

I challenge anyone who has the audacity to disagree. Keep in mind I will only respond to arguments. Not idiots spamming emojis.

Another note: Career =/= skill set. That's a different topic.

No quick has bowled more overs in men’s international cricket since 2022 than Mitchell Starc. An absolute workhorse

Starc has been best bowler of this generation post 2015. In 2015, him and Mitchell Johnson were two deadly left arm seamers to face.

I also remember he turned down million dollar IPL contract in the past.
