A mob running into hundreds on Thursday razed a historic Ahmadi property in Sialkot as a two-way ownership contest remained “sub judice”.

Aamir Mehmood of Jamaat-e-Ahmadiyya told The Express Tribune that a 500-strong mob had razed Ahmadi worship place Baitul Mubarik and a one-time residence of the Jamaat founder.
“Mirza [ Mirza Ghulam Ahmad] sahib had lived there. We revamped the house as it was wearing out. Municipal authorities, however, objected to the initiative and sealed the structure,” Mehmood, the JA press in charge, added.

The issue was sub judice. “Dozens of municipal authority men were part of the mob that razed the structures without any official or court directive,” Mehmood said.

No one, neither area inhabitants or police personnel, tried to stop the mob from razing the structures. “They continued to vandalise the structures till the early hours of Thursday. They returned once again after offering Fajr prayers,” Mehmood said.

The Sialkot DC had ordered the house sealed a week ago, according to Express News. While the structures were razed in the wee hours of Thursday, police claimed to have only become cognisant of the episode later in the morning.

Officials claimed that the strength of the mob was between 150-200 people. Of these, 15-20 were policemen, DSP Irfan Butt said. Reiterating the stance of municipal authorities, police also termed the house “illegal” and defended the move to seal it.

Shameless losers trying to earn some free sawaab in Ramadan and that too by attacking a mosque.

Seriously how can these munafiqs cry when non Muslims attack mosques around the world? Why shed crocodile tears when you are doing same in position of power?

Scandalous. The Sialkot police force is a law unto itself. Not the first time they ever facilitated criminals taking the law into their hands. The murder of those two brothers from a few years ago comes to mind

Pathetic people. Instead of doing good deeds in this holy month, razing down a mosque.

Pathetic people even if u disagree with Ahmadi aqeeda. What is the point of doing such actions. But not surprised when people like Khadim Rizvi are given public platforms to spew hatred against minorities.

Bet these same people were shedding tears and burning flags when Israeli forces gunned down Palestinian protesters. But then commit such acts.

It's a simple issue of law and order. How do you allow or justify mob law regardless of the rights and wrongs of any particular case? I realise these are third world countries, but that doesn't mean they can't move forward and try to step out of this mentality.

Who ever is the master mind behind this attack should be prosecuted and put behind bars.

Mobs don't gather out of the blue. They are always brainwashed by some selfish twisted person.

"Officials claimed that the strength of the mob was between 150-200 people. Of these, 15-20 were policemen,"

Doesnt help when police are involved. They must have instigated it due to some conflict they had with the building owners or caretakers. Shameless act.

A very unfortunate incident.
TalentSpotterPk; this is why you should not support thuggish govt like PMLN. Ofcourse; the police is under the govt.

It's not just the police involved, they could only be doing it if the authorities above them are complicit. This is why it's not enough for people to tut tut and blame some 'jaahil maulvi'. It's the authorities at local level, and ultimately the national govt who have to take ultimate responsibility. Who are the police accountable to?

You know situation is hopeless when even the police is involved. At least the government should discharge these police officers.
