No matter how they performed in PSL but Pakistan need them for T20 WC. Pakistan cannot win the WC or even the games against Afghanistan, India and NZ with Hasnain, Haris, Faheem etc. All of them are match losers and can lose games for Pakistan on their own. Wahab and Amir are experienced campaigners and more often than not, you would back them to defend 20 runs in 2 overs which the current bowlers can’t. They can also smack a few with the bat.

I think today it's been made clear yet again: Wahab, Amir and Hassan are our best bowlers with Shaheen being the fourth option in T20 cricket.

Others like Rauf, Hasnain, Naseem or whatever have failed. Misbah and Wasim need to keep their ego's at bay and recall Wahab, Amir for the major tournament.

It's so sad but the only option seems going back to Wahab, Amir and Malik (for middle order batting). Imad Wasim is already back in the team.

Pakistan’s line up for T20 WC should be:

Rizwan
Babar
Ali Salman
Malik
Hussain Talat
Maddy
Hassan Ali
Wahab
Qadir
Amir
Shaheen

This pile of poop disguised as a team will lose to both the lucky associate teams that find themselves in our group.

Btw who is the person in your profile pic.

Other than Salman Agha (I can’t think of another decent batsmen) this is the best team Pakistan can field

Rauf and Hasnain bowled absolutely trash today. Everything was being at the 5th stump, Saj mentioned that Hasnain was the only bowler that was consistently hitting the markers during training, was he not practicing his line?

Why are our bowlers so afraid of attacking the stumps? I’d rather see our bowlers bowling at the stumps and getting hit for 6 over bowling at 5th stump and getting smashed for 4, you’re giving yourself little chances of taking wickets.

Amir and Wahab need to be brought back into the team regardless of domestic performances. Hasnain still has age on his side, maybe give him another 3-4 years in domestic cricket. Haris Rauf can make good money playing in T20 leagues around the world.

Even Hafeez is better than Hussain Talat. Also no one in the world knows what Salman Agha can do. He wasn't that impressive in the PSL.

Things are really bad and Pak will have to go with:
Babar
Rizwan
Fakhar
Hafeez
Malik
Imad Wasim

They will probably lose but guys like Malik will take it to the end in the UAE.

Babar
Rizwan
Sohaib
Fakhar
Shoaib
Hafeez
Imad
Hassan
Wahab/Shadab/Qadir
Amir
Shaheen

Fakhar is in terrible form in T20 and struggles against spin. Even Danish Aziz is a better option than him.

Wahab/Shadab/Qadir

You need two spinners in the UAE. So its either Imad and Shadab or Imad and Qadir. Nawaz is a decent back up as well.

Also Sohaib is a tulla and we already lack decent batsmen in the middle order. Unless someone like Hafeez starts bowling then we can afford that extra batsman.

Fakhar looked terrific in the last T20 game (first T20i against ENG). Also people on this forum usually say playing spin is his strength.

LOL you are grossly mistaken if you are comparing the Trent Bridge conditions to UAE conditions. Look at his record against spin in UAE. He is gonna flop against Indian spinners and Rashid and Mujeeb. He is a waste in T20. He can only perform against third class spinners now esp on the spin heaven like UAE

Fakhar, Babar, Rizwan, Shaheen, Shadab should be certainities in the team.
I wouldnt pick Aamir or Wahab both not team players.

That's the problem. We don't have any better. Fakhar at the least has performed in the past and is a gun fielder.

I don't know how a Sharjeel would do at 3 as we havent tried that out yet.

Because of these issues Hafeez and Malik could be certainties for the upcoming tournament in the UAE.

On what basis Shadab and Fakhar should be certainties?

Shadab is young has great potential and he always gives 100%, Fakhar is an inventive stroke maker.
I have not seen anyone better that could takeover from them.

Nawaz seems decent but still would not replace Shadab as he is leg spinner.
Fakhar needs to be picked consistently.

Both need extended run in team.

No one outside the team looks able to take over.

I hope both Hafeez or Shoaib do not get in the team or at worst just one as they are no longer quick enough for T20.

Things are really bad for Pakistan and Malik has been in terrific form as shown in the PSL.

Hafeez is still one of the few decent hitters in Pakistan.

When will we ever find a decent middle order bat again?

Lol Spray Gun Wahab who performs in one game and goes missing in the next ten games. Similarly Amir who is bowling at Mark Ealhams speeds. England scored 444/3 in ODI cricket against these two bowlers. Let's be honest, neither are our bowlers skillful against modern T20 & ODI batters and neither does Waqar Younis have the competence, understanding about how to read the wicket, how to guide the bowlers against modern limited overs batsmen

Ok tell me how Haris, Hasnain are better than them? The same bowlers in Hassan, Haris and Shaheen failed to defend 330 against England D batting.

They haven't conceeded 444 runs in an ODI. Amir has done nothing to merit a recall.

They have not conceded 444 in ODI but still they have won more games for Pakistan than the likes of Haris, Faheem, Hasnain will ever. Amir has done enough to get a recall especially after this pathetic performance of Pakistan bowlers.

Amir has done enough? How?

He had a poor Sri Lankan Premier League. He had a poor National T20 League. He had a poor PSL. He has not done anything to earn a recall. Wahab is touching what 36-37 now? T20 is the format for youngsters, can count numerous games Wahab has lost us singlehandedly. It's time to move on with youngsters like England is doing

They need Amir.

In the PSL, only Shaheen had a better economy rate than Amir among the current pacers. Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, and Mohammad Hasnain were far too expensive.

You put them all in the lineup together and it's wickets or complete carnage.

Amir needs to be an option that's available to them at the WC. You don't need to start him right away but he has to be a fallback option in case 2-3 of these guys implode.

On recent form he doesn't deserve to be selected. Also he is a terrible influence, WK has visited his place and the guy still has not taken back his retirement. A lot of Pakistani players have routinely complained about his attitude. Best Pakistan moves on because the guy is not the bowler he was propagated to be

Tullay baz are needed in t20. He has better chance of performing then Asif or Khushdil. Imad and Shadab are my 2 preferred spinner BUT I will make a judgement on Qadir once he plays vs W.i, Nz and Eng before WC. I think lacks control. If he performs well then he will be the spinner in place of Shadab. Shadab is mediocre but Pakistan do not have any other option unfortunately. Nawaz could be an option but I doubt he is any better.

Wahab Riaz even at his best is nothing more than what Rauf and Hasnain are offering. He averages in mid 30s in almost all forms of the game.

Amir has performed like a clown in last few leagues he played. He has lost pace, has zero interest in the game.

On what basis should they be selected? Shaheen, Hassan, Abbas, Yasir, Nauman for tests and Shaheen, Hassan, Hasnain, Rauf, Qadir/Shadab for ODIs. That is the best we can have right now.

this , Wahab is garbage

Pakistan could just double down on the fact that they have no pace bowlers and play 4 spinners.

Batsmen 1-5
6 Imad
7 Shadab
8 Nawaz
9 Hassan
10 Shaheen
11 Qadir

The fact that threads like this even exist are genuinely incredible. Why and on what basis is Waqar still bowling coach?

He's had years with his bowlers and yet the question is still whether we should return to these two.

Waqar is a bigger failure than Misbah and it's not even close.

Might as well bring Amir and Wahab back as well?

What have these two done wrong if Malik is fine to play? If you discarded all 3 because you wanted to invest in the future, then why bring back a player who hasn’t played a single international match in 2 years? What is the value of international cricket if Malik is going to be recalled like this?

I don't think Amir will be effective on UAE pitches.

Wahab can be a good option though.

I remember creating a “Get Wahab to England” thread a couple years back when the rest of our bowlers were getting smashed to all parts. Wahab then came and really turned it on, being our best bowler on display and bowling better than he’d ever bowled.

If it’s a toss up between Harris Rauf and Wahab Riaz, Wahab wins every day of the week.

I’m sorry that these facts upset posters who don’t like the idea of Pakistan going with older players. However this flawed policy of just going with “youth” for the sake of it, regardless of whether that younger play can even play, is just stupidity pure and simple.

In UAE and Pakistani conditions, Wahab Riaz's bowling style works.

It's in SENA where you can't keep bowling short because the ball comes so crisply onto the bat.

I remember his poor bowling against NZ early this year, same approach of banging it in, but it doesn't work.

In UAE, you can keep banging the ball in and it will be difficult to smash you around easily if the pitch isn't that flat.

If you saw Pakistan’s tour of England in 2019, you would have seen just how brilliant Wahab was in those conditions. He can be hit around no doubt, but the hostility he can bring to the table is something Harris Rauf couldn’t even dream of.

Regarding Wahab, it probably came down to a choice between him and Haris Rauf.

Whist Haris has been a regular pick for Pakistan, the gap will have closed recently given Wahab's decent performances, and his batting and experience.
