I think he should just restrict himself to the ODI and T-20 format. It is not surprising to see him bowl full tilt in the ODI and T-20 format i.e. 140 km/hr plus but in the test matches he just does not have the strength or the fitness to bowl at that pace in all the spells and he is always at 127-132 km/hr range.

Call it a lack of heart, or a lack of fitness, or a lack of strength but i feel it is best to just restrict him to the ODI and T-20 formats if we want to get the best out of him in his prime years.

Ageee with savak when he bowls 140+ he turns in to the best fast bowler in the world unfortunatley 5 years away meant his body did not develop itself for test cricket grind he bowls at pedestrian pace in test cricket and should be put out of his misery in test cricket

And the 20+ Drop catches in test marches... What about them

this is obviously an exaggerated statement

but, to be honest, I wouldn't expect many fast bowler to have the 'fitness and strength' in the Dubai heat and on those pitches

I think, no fast bowler will be fit in a 3+1 bowling combination in UAE, that too in October. Otherwise average 35-38 overs work load for the opening bowler is manageable, he can do that probably for 120 overs in a 3 Test series.

if hes got any sense he wont listen this advice

Test matches are where great bowlers excel and if he wants to become a great he needs to make tests his priority not retire from it

Its useless jamodis and t20s he needs to sit out of The management need to manage his workload Make sure hes available for all tests whilst only playing the important odi gamss

He regularly bowled 140+ against Australia and England in the Test matches.

It's just the matches in UAE where due to the extreme heat he restricts himself from bowling fast, still though he clocked around 140 in the second Test against Sri Lanka.

Amir becomes lethal when he gets assistance - in the air or off the wicket.

Otherwise he doesn't look as threatening as compared to say a Hasan Ali.

However his workload should be managed - it's not sustainable for him to keep playing in all formats.

Who would want to play in that UAE heat and in attack that has 4 bowlers? Why would he bowl at full pace when there's nothing in the pitch.

He should continue to play tests.

What about them?

First mistake is playing 4 bowlers on flat decks, then drop catches left and right and that too upfront. :acp:

This was probably the first match wheee we did not drop single catch of Amir.

Wasim and Waqar used to have more catches dropped off them, still managed to be legends.

I wonder why he bowls badly in tests. Heat can't be an excuse cos the CT final day it was absolutely baking here in England as well.

You bowl a lot more in Tests than ODIs.

For example, he bowled 27 + 12 overs (39 overs total) in the 1st test. That's Four ODIs/Ten T20s worth of bowling in 3-4 days while fielding in the same heat.

Plus England's heat has nothing on Dubai.

That's true but I don't think heat is the main reason for his poor Test performance in the UAE

Absolutely.

Even I disagree heat is the main reason for his issues but Tests do take a lot more out of fast bowlers.

In my opinion, it's a mixture of things including flat pitches, negative lines, and not being "up for the game" mentally which is something he has to work on.

A part of the blame goes to Mickey and Sarfraz too. You can't run him into the ground and the same applies to Hasan Ali.

Setting a rotation is crucial.
