Mohammad Amir ruled out of ODI series against Sri Lanka [Usman Shinwari replacement #44]

Fast bowler Mohammad Amir has been ruled out of the ODI series against Sri Lanka due to a stress related injury in the right shin.

The fast bowler has been advised two to three weeks rest after he underwent an MRI scan today following complains of pain in his right shin.

Amir will not bowl in the ongoing Test match at the Dubai Cricket Stadium but would be available to bat.

Amir's replacement in the ODI squad will be announced in due course.

We don't really need him in ODIs against SL. We have Rumman Raees.

Hope Amir has a good recovery.

Maybe Mohammad Nawaz can replace him.

It was an injury waiting to happen.

It was obvious that he was not fit in the first Test yet he was picked for the 2nd Test.

Ridiculous stuff.
 
Oh dear, this is sad. But Pakistan should still win the ODIs against SLN. At least that is what I think.
 
Ruman should replace him in the starting line up but excited to see who will be called up as a replacement.

i am amir fan too but no better way to destroy your career but playing a long lengthy county cricket with

injuries he should only play t20 leagues his body don,t allow him to play non stop cricket

Why would you replace a pace bowler with a spinner. Senseless.
 
Wow they shouldn't have made him play so many matches, at least rest him in dead rubbers and obviously should be playing Test cricket as a priority.
 
Hopefully they being in Usman Khan Shinwari or maybe even go extremely raw and Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Still a half decent pace attack, actually considering Amir can't buy a wicket these days might even be a better attack without him.

Hope he comes back fit though, if Pak is going to win the next world cup we need him to pull an akram.
 
He clearly wasn't fit in the first test, I wonder if he even did a fitness test. Aside from Umar Akmal are there fitness tests for the pot bellied cricketers in our side?
 
I'm waiting for Inzi to select someone like an Umar Gul. That is not outside the realm of possibility.

Because we already have 4 pacers in the squad: Hasan Ali, Rumman Raees, Junaid Khan and Faheem Ashraf.

And it's UAE so there are spinning conditions.

Mohammad Amir is the biggest fraud for Pakistani Test cricket team since the times of Afridi when he scored a century vs India in Test Matches and went on to play so many Test Matches for country because of that one knock

You need more than 4 pacers in the squad.
 
Don't think it is a big a loss. He is not easily motivated and doesn't seem to give his best unless the stakes are high.

This series seems like an inconsequential one, and he would probably have produced his usual half-hearted impact-less and wicket-less performances. I would rather have someone hungry and eager to impress take his chance in this series.

Azhar playing on forced injections...wahab struggling for his run up... playing only spinner and bowling yasir on a complete stretch, i think he will also be injured with his back or bowling arm in the 2nd innings, if pak batsmen didnt play well and long...

Mgmt is clueless...reluctant to give chances to youngsters...newbies waiting for their chances in Hamza, Asghar, Usman
 
Most shocking part of this is that Pakistan don't play another test till May. Then only 2 till probably October. 2 tests in a year. Might as well pack up the Pakistan cricket team.

Yes observed the same thing, he doesnt seem to be giving his 100%, its like he is being forced to ball which is odd as he should have been more hungry after his return.

Having a bad day or going wicketless can be accepted as part of game but giving half hearted attempts is really not on.

I hope whatever his problem is he sorts it out for the next series otherwise some other guy with dreams and motivation deserves a chance.

FTP program shows that we are supposed to play two tests in Zimbabwe as well in March April time next year.

I dont know if its confirmed yet or not

Also along with two tests in England, one test against Ireland might be added. And around October next year we have three tests against NZ in UAE.

Not that concerned that he's not playing the ODI's. More game time for Ruman and also an opportunity to test the bench strength.

I am more worried that he's not going to bowl again in this match. The only way to win this match is to get SL out cheaply in the 2nd innings. We can't do that with 3 bowlers. One of whom has already had a hectic workload this series.

Yes its a problem.

But, Haris Sohail didnt look too shabby with the ball at all, he might be effective in tantrum with Yasir as the wicket is gonna spin۔ He was pretty accurate and was getting good revolutions on the ball.

I wont be surprised if the oppurtunity comes that he takes few wickets.

Watch him perform very well in Asia Cup 2018 and WC 2019.

While he may lack motivation, I also think he is not built sturdy enough to bowl long spells at express pace. So it may actually be optimum for him to save himself for the big events.

Also from the financial point of view, as he cannot play in the IPL, the next best option for him may be county cricket.

Fitness tests are only for guys like U. Akmal or others who aren't favourites.

Amir should skip tests in the UAE in general as he isn't built to play a lot of games in a year. He still can be useful in NZ, ENG though.

Lahore- October 9, 2017: The National Selection Committee headed by Inzamam ul Haq has named fast bowler Usman Khan Shinwari as a replacement for fast bowler Mohammad Amir for five-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. Mohammad Amir has been ruled out of the ODI series against Sri Lanka due to a stress-related injury in the right shin.
 
Someone should sit Amir down and remind him how lucky he is to be wearing the pakistan shirt and remind him that he could have easily been cast away to a life of poverty.

Told you guys Haris Sohail was hitting the right lenght and was getting good spin on the ball but never thought he would take 3 wickets for 1 run in 1 over. Lol!
 
The one time I saw Shinwari bowl I thought he was meh. Nothing special tbh. Hope I'm wrong though.
 
Shinwari is just a fazul bowler.. I can't understand why he keeps getting picked. He is not even PSL level let alone international level

Give him a chance. He's only young. Picked up the wicket of Tamim Iqbal who is a class batsman.

He's not the 2010 England Amir, that resting him for matches here and there is unthinkable.
 
Raees is a better cricketer anyways.

Amir should be saved for important series and World Cup matches too.
