This is not a jinx thread its just stating a fact that if Pakistan are to win the World cup next year, and if Amir, Shehzad and Malik are selected in the 15 man squad they have a chance to achieve something special. Now chances are 2 out of the three would get selected ( Malik and Amir) but regardless if all are selected or 2 or even 1 that individual will go down with winning all 3 ICC trophies.
The only player who has achieved this is MS DHONI ( world t20 2007, world cup 2011, champions trophy 2013).
All three Amir, Shehzad and malik were apart of the 15 man squad that won the world t20 in 2009, and the champions trophy in 2017. Here are some stats to their contribution in each tournament.
Shoaib Malik (World t20 2009) Played 7 matches and scored 144 runs in total with his highest score being 34 and taking 1 wicket in the tournament. His high point was in the final when he along with Shahid Afridi helped Pakistan win their maiden world t20 trophy.
Mohammad Amir ( World t20 2009) played 7 matches and batted in one match as well, how ever he did not score a run in that tournament, but did take 6 wickets for pakistan. He was the find of the tournament and did play a key role in the final as well.
Ahmed Shehzad ( World t20 2009) played 1 match and scored 4 runs with high highest score being 4 runs. This was a very young Ahmed shehzad at the time, so his contribution was nothing be honest, but still being apart of the 15 man squad that one the trophy might have been a special moment for him
Shoaib Malik ( ICC champions trophy 2017) played 5 matches and batted in 4, he scored a total of 54 runs, with his highest score being 16. He did not take any wickets during this tournament. He didn't play a key role in this tournament but his presence was important since he was a senior.
Mohammed Amir ( ICC champions trophy 2017) Amir played matches and batted in 2 matches he scored 37 runs with his highest score being of 28 runs. He took 5 wickets. Although he did have a slow start he did prove to be a match winner when it mattered the most. His high points are 2 games, the way he batted against Sri Lanka to help Pakistan win that match along side Sarfraz. Of course his bowling performance in the finals against India.
Ahmed Shehzad ( ICC champions trophy 2017) Shehzad only played one match were he scored 12 runs, after that he was dropped and did not play a single match, his contributions were nothing, but his high point would be when he got to take some selfies and pictures with the champions trophy in his hand.
I strongly think that when the 15 man squad is announced we will see malik and amir name on that sheet, and if Pakistan is to win that world cup and they will achieve something special indeed.
