Good.

Why waste his energy in such stupid, pointless, artificial, meaningless matches?

Will be fantastic too see him but i wouldn't want to miss his babys birth

I wouldn't say these matches are pointless and meaningless. This would be Amir's first match for Pakistan in Pakistan and will be a very big occasion. But I do agree that he needs a rest so I'm not that disappointed that he may miss some/all of these games especially as he has been playing non stop since CT for Essex. I guess he will get a chance to play in Pakistan against SL and WI if those two series go ahead if the birth of his child clashes with the World XI series

Needs a rest from cricket for a little bit, he's been playing non-stop as a first choice player. Will definitely be back for the more important games.

Would've loved to see him play, but no match is more important than being there for the birth of your child. First or any.

Great for him.

A game with international players, played in front of the home crowd, with the whole nation hoping it to be a serious step towards bringing back international cricket, is not stupid and meaningless.

Well if there ever was a reason to miss matches this is a nice one!

The amount of games he is playing these days he is going to miss some important games in the upcoming international season.

Someone like Rumman Raees can easily replace Amir while he rests in order to be 100% for the SL series.

he misses matches far too easily.
his commitment is questionable.

He's played 32 matches for Pakistan across all formats since his return. Only Sarfaraz has played more. Which matches did he miss 'too easily'? :)

And saifi is our regular keeper, keepers don't miss matches (Batsman or Bowlers may get dropped due to poor form).

Shows how regular Amir has been.

I believe the only time Saifi didn't keep was when he had to return home due to his mother's illness and that was in the Aussie LOI tour. Apart from that I think he hasn't missed anything tbh.

Yes but he can take off whenever he likes, whether its the CT semi final, or an epic phainty from Kohli in the group matches

Yes he can !! If he's winning us finals I do not care what he does otherwise or in some meaningless (which these are not and Amir's leaving for a genuine reason) LOIs.

There is a reason why the catch phrase 'Kohli Nahe Hota Tujse Chase' became so mainstream !! :ashwin

amir made it to the final because of hasan ali and other bowlers

it is well and good to perform in the final but he was pedestrian for most of the ct especially in the earlier must win games

if the others bowlers were toothless like him in the first few games pakistan would not even have made the semis

amir's contribution in the final shouldn't be forgotten but lets not pretend that he won us the trophy. other players made bigger contributions and it is not as if india were going to chase 340 if amir wouldnt have turned up

Yes maybe the rest of the 10 members should do that too (play whenever they like) we will have no one who comes out on the pitch then

Yes this is the same as 'Afridi winning us the world t20' after Umar Gul destroying the opposition left right and center throughout the tournament.

at least afridi performed in both knockouts and did well with the ball throughout the tournament but yes he failed with the bat before the semi and the final

amir was awful in all matches except the sri lanka one and even there hasan ali sparked the collapse

Amir and Fakhar won the final.

And yes, Hasan Ali was a major reason why we were there in the first place.

And as for India being unable to chase?

Twice double centurion opener, highest run scorer in that tournament, one of the greatest [if not the greatest] white ball cricket batsmen and chaser and they can't chase 340?

How many totals has Pakistan defended against India in tournaments? Or big scores outside tournaments?

Let's be real. If Fakhar hadn't been dropped, it may have been a different story.

it was scoreboard pressure

if pakistan would have bowled first amir would not have knocked over their top 3 in the first 10 overs. it was our great fortune that india chose to bowl on that road because chasing anything above 270 in a high profile final is a very tough ask and the way india (the best chasing team) collapsed shows the pressure they were under because of the huge total

had rumman raees played instead of amir in that final we would still have won convincingly

amir was not one of our best performers in the tournament.

I see the hate is real for Amir on this thread. For a guy who won us 2 finals out of the 2, he featured in I am not too sure what people expect of Amir tbh. The guy is a gem of a bowler and would walk into literally any team right now.

I distinctly remember this is the same type of negativity people had during Wasim and Waqar days and only once they retired from cricket did we realize how big of a loss were those two. Pakistani folks are well and truly ungrateful !!

But he should experience a single local international game, don't you think?

Let the haters go on as if Amir owes them anything and their inability to handle the failure of someone they'll either never meet or get to know.

And let them pretend that they can make the same demands of Amir that his wife can.

Desi entitlement gone mad.

2 finals out of 2 my word :)))

Other 10 pplayers should just hang their head in shame and just watch from the stands.... Amir can bat ball keep and field at the same time :))

It's a special ability to ignore stunning achievement and displace the praise somewhere else.

And to actually care that he had two not great games and missed one before he decimated India and put them into an unwinnable position.

Hate on brother, hate on. I'm sure watching cricket is more fun that way.

Amir Hater Alert.

You've been bashing Amir since that NZ series.

What has Amir done to you that you find the most pathetic of reasons to criticize him?

Not too sure what others are going on about...

He is still not even that close to his pre-ban rhythm where his pace was high 140's mostly 145k's and over consistently and swinging it nicely both ways too. His fitness was not great either back then and even now as he lacks a bit of muscle throughout his body.

he did match fixing. you may forgive and forget but not everyone can

yes amir was the best bowler of the tournament and performed in all games

I hope he plays...Lots of people are saying that its good he 'll get rest but he needs to play in front of the home crowd just to understand how it feels. Totally different experience, one he needs to taste...

1. He did spot fixing not match fixing. There's a world of difference between them.
2. No one really cares whether anyone can forgive/forget what he did because the relevant authorities have
already punished him.
3. This thread is not about the spot fixing saga so I've no idea why you're bringing it up here......

Your sentences scream the sorry fact that you've never had and will never have a legendary bowler like Amir.

I am a Pakistani but Kohli is my favorite player

who cares

he still cheated our nation and our cricket and he cannot be trusted

the fact that we brought him back shows our corrupt culture. he should have been made an example of.

good for you supporting him but sorry i cannot back criminals

that's like saying Misbah ul Haq is a great ODI batsman, but he has no 100 in ODIs...

Misbah 162 ODIs

Amir 36 ODIs

Misbah helping us to win world titles ✗

Amir helping us to win world titles ✓

:salute

Amir embarassing country, cheating the country, cheating the fans, banned for 5 years (tickmark)

Misbah redeeming the name of the country, embarassment Amir caused, giving credibility back to Pakistan (tickmark)

I thought the discussion was about performance. :)

Winning world titles is a team effort if I remember? Are you saying Amir won us the title? I would have to take you back to who played major roles and Amir wasn't one of them..
Misbah also helped win you the world t20 in 2009... if helping is all thats required

But in an article he seemed pretty interested in the event !!

What does scoreboard pressure have to do with the quality of deliveries he bowled that day? The one that Azhar dropped and the other which got Dhawan would have dismissed most of the batsmen.

Mohammad Amir may miss T20I series against World XI

Pakistan could be without their top paceman Mohammad Amir for the Twenty20 series against the World XI as he wants to be with his wife in London for the birth of their child, next week. According to Pakistan Cricket Board sources, Amir has taken permission from the PCB and head coach Mickey Arthur to be with his wife.

However, other team sources claim that Amir may skip the series in Lahore since he suffered a back strain while playing his last match for Essex.

"He has been playing non-stop cricket this year and understandably he might not want to take any gamble with his back problem as Pakistan is due to play a full series with Sri Lanka later this month in the UAE," one source said.

Amir produced a blistering three-wicket burst against India in the Champions Trophy final to seal Pakistan's victory at the Oval in June. Since that final he has not returned to Pakistan even for the celebrations that followed as he was busy playing for Essex in the County championship.

Bowling looks a little weak without him. On other hand give Hassan Ali a chance to lead the bowling attack.

C'mon man why does every famous person have to have the most perfect of morals/personality/criminal record??

If that was a parameter for merit then I'm pretty sure people like Shane Warne, Robert Downey Jnr. and Chris Gayle would never have made it to the big stage.

Also, you can't call Amir a criminal anymore since he's served his time legally and coordinated with the PCB throughout the rehabilitation process.

Although no one cares about T20 Rankings, but still as per current situation if Amir misses the third T20 he will probably be removed from the T20 Rankings as he would have not played in the respective format for a period of 1 year, which is the cut off date to remain in the rankings.
