Looking forward to seeing him open the bowling with Hassan in the ODIs. Will be tough but he will do well

He needs to go and rest somewhere till he finds his mojo again. his ineffective venom less bowling is of no use. Any one can roll the arm over and hope for the best

Not cut out for test cricket. If he has played most of his life in England/Australia/New Zealand and still averages 34 in spite of a fortunate green mamba series thrown in the middle, he is probably no good.

His plan B is to become an ODI specialist and do a job for Pakistan there.

Honestly he should be rested for a few games at the very least.

Dude's been playing non-stop cricket for too long and needs a break.

We won't win the ODI series against Aus so the least the management can do is give him a rest for the first 1-2 ODIs

His plan is to not listen to armchair critics like yourself and I and keep working hard.

Rest him no need to play him in ODI we are losing it anyways with or without Amir.

He looked pretty tiered and unfit and need to be fed and trained properly for next test series he need some muscle on his structure soon.

His version of working hard has merely got him an average that is hurtling toward Ishant Sharma-land.

I hope amir atleast fullfils 50 percent of expectations of pak fans as they have invested heavily in him and by the look of his performances after return he may be a dissapointment

Why? Why would you put more pressure on him if he is injured? Too long a season after his comeback already. Give him some rest

Bowlers playing tests should all have been rested and some other guys should have replaced them. Likes of Irfan , Junaid , Hassan and two other new pacers should have been the part of LOIs squad. Selectors needs to know that bowlers workload should be managed carefully.
Also bowlers playing in tests would be low on confidence after series loss against the kiwis and aussies.

I think we should have rested him for these ODI's regardless of this strain. And now that there is a chance of an injury, resting him becomes a compulsion. He's played a lot of cricket in the past year, from domestics to twenty20 leagues to internationals.. There is an obvious fall in pace and it ma get worse and he might end up with an injury. Let him go back home, rest, work on his swing, improve fitness and work with someone like Akhtar to bring his pace up.

Easily still the best bowler in Pakistan despite a not-so-good series (or even comeback). Needs to be persisted with but also given the required rest.

Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir will be fit for their one-day international series against Australia, despite missing part of their third Test match in Sydney.

After suffering a muscle strain in training, Amir did not take to the field in Australia's second innings - and instead went for a scan.

However, taking just three to four days to recover, the 24-year-old will be available to bat in the fourth innings before bowling in the ODI series, which starts on January 13.

"Amir has returned to the ground after the scans," Amjad Hussain, the PCB media director, told journalists on Friday. "The MRI reveals a mark showing strain. Amir will take three to four days to recover and will be available for the ODI series in Australia.

"He will be unavailable to bowl in the third Test in Sydney, but will be available to bat if required."

Younis Khan, meanwhile, has encouraged Pakistan to deliver on the final day of the Test as they bid to avoid a whitewash, the tourists trailing by 410 runs with nine wickets remaining.

"We want to finish this series on a good note," Younis said. "It will be better for us if we show some fight. It will not be easy. Fifth day of a Test, in Sydney, they have two spinners and they have good fast bowlers.

"You can't say [which Pakistan will turn up], but my wish and effort is - though we cannot win the series, we were capable of winning it but we didn't - at least, if we do well tomorrow [Saturday], if we fight tomorrow, it will be very good for the Pakistan cricket and the side."

Actually I'm looking forward to see how Hassan does on these pitches. He did very well in England.

A very very under-rated bowler by all PP'ers. I'm a big fan of his..

Even before the MRI, Amir shouldn't had been considered for ODI - in fact, he should have been rested for MCG, but since he is with the team & already selected for ODI, I think it's better to keep him with the team & play selectively. May be 1st & 3rd ODI and if it's already 3-0; not to bother for other 2.

PAK's previous model was to play possible best XI even against zimboks at Lahore after 2-0 in a 3 match series, which needs to be amended; Amir is just part of it.

sensible post

Misbah has bowled all the pacers to the ground as if they are his ghar ke mulazim. It was absolute buffoonry to come to Australia, New Zealand and even England without a 5th pace-medium pace all rounder.

They shouldn't play him in the odi series call up Junaid Khan as a replacement.

Should give him the series off, give the guy some rest, been playing non stop since the Eng series.

This doesn't reflect the true story.

AUS plays longer Series, which often is 3/4/5 Tests & 4/5 ODI - once Josh is there, he is bowling long spells & playing 4/5/6 matches at stress; then rested for a series as such. What PAK is doing is, they are often playing Micky mouse Series - 2/3 matches of mixed bag - Test, T20, ODI & picking Amir for every series. This never helps a fast bowler to nurse his niggles & injuries. I don't mind a fast bowler playing 5 ODI or 5 Tests at a stress, provided that he is rested (completely dropped) for the any series prior or after.

I wrote it that time & again writing - Playing Amir in UAE for those ODI & T20 was a blunder - PAK will suffer for that.
