A player who sold out the country by spot fixing matches today talks about the ehsaan he did on Babar Azam and is not only trying to take credit for getting him selected but also claiming that fact that Babar is terrible and wont be able to play him.

This corrupt player is not even living in Pakistan, and is hiding overseas and some say he cant comeback here.

What really baffles me is that there are fans that actually agree with the statement Asif made, and there has been very little criticism. Infact, fans are still critical at Babar for not selecting their favourites.

Yet a spot fixer can insult our captain and star batsman and go scott free. It seems like there is very little support for Pakistan by the soo called fans only because their favorites' are not in the team.

Its truly disappointing to see. Many fans are praying for PCT to fail just so they can win an argument on the internet.

no one agrees with asif a hundred percent, but anyone who has followed his career knows that this is who he is, its the reason he could bowl to world class batsman and not get intimidated and the reason he was dumb enough to lose his career. he always thought he was better than everyone else.

as far as his comments go, he can say what he likes, he isnt breaking any law, and if pak have a crap world cup the vast majority of fans will replay the same video and say asif was right.

Pakistan fans When Asif says Kohli will not be able to recover from his bad form/decline since 2019: “once a genius always a genius!”

Pakistan fans when Asif speaks facts about Babar: “he sold his country fixer!!”

I think if Babar, his dad or any of his cultish fanclub are getting offended by this, stop being so sensitive and get some thicker skin.

Asif’s probably right that he recommended him. And read between the lines. He obv rates him to recommend him, and is having a go at him for not developing further.

He’s a fan of babar, he just wants him to take his game to the next level and stop playing dot balls.

I’m a fan of babar too - he has tremendous ability. But if we all sit here and keep praising him, comparing him to Kohli, calling him Bradman or whatever, it’s job done for him.

If you’re really a fan of his, we need to be clear - what he’s done is not enough, not even remotely. Take your game to the next level.

I still look at him as a talented, yet weak batsman. He doesn’t have the dominance or ruthlessness someone of his talent should have.

Get rid of this captaincy nonsense and all this meaningless record chasing, go and work on your game, both technical and mental.

Babar’s dad confirmed Asif’s story. The guy knows a player when he sees it.

A few bold words from old bowler Asif from last week, and some people are continuing to have nightmares.

Hate it when Asif exhibits unnecessary delusions of granduer. He dissed Waqar's entire career by insinuating that Waqar would never have been a great bowler if he was prevented from ball tampering. And he continuously disses our current pacers calling them average rather than provide any constructive feedback, advice.

If there is one smart move he made in his life, it was moving to the US at the right time, you should all check out his youtube page, the guy is driving high end cars and is living a comfortable life. He even commented recently that the PCB offered him Rs 1.5 million to be the bowling coach at NCA and he commented that he is already making Rs 4.5 million a week living in the US and that the PCB should offer him the same wage being paid to Mickey Arthur and the other foreign coaches.

He had a brilliant bowling brain but even he struggled badly when the ball got older. Horrible toxic individual though which is why i doubt he will be successful in any coaching role.

Because there are elements of the truth in them.

If AB Devilliers and Kevin Pietersen, two of the most destructive batsmen of the modern white ball era can say that they found Asif the hardest bowler they ever faced…

How then would Babar be doing a favour to Asif by playing him out a maiden? Babar wont survive against Asif let alone play him out

These two would have tonked Asif with the old ball. Two bad, they rarely survived his new ball bursts.

guy couldnt live here, as no one was ready to offer him a job. Now in US he probably gets a few leagues and teams to work with.

Anyways the point is being Pakistani, fans and ex cricketers should be supporting the team and giving them a morale boost. But it is evident in this thread aswell taht few posters had their favourites who didnt get selected so now they want Pakistan to do bad and want to insult the team aswell..

bro, no one has issue with criticism. The thing is, the team is going for a world cup. The trend has always been that ok now the team has been selected its time to back the boys and wish for them to do well. Now an ex cricketers coming out and saying that he did an ehsaan on selecting this guy and he can bowl the Pakistani team captain and he would suck, saying all this RIGHT BEFORE THE WORLD CUP?

Have you ever seen some other country diss their players like this that too before a world cup?

There was no need for such statement. Every Pakistani needs to be supporting and backing the team right now. The timing of it is soo wrong.

Why do we need to compare to other countries? This is us, this is what we do. Our ex cricketers do this all the time.

Should Asif have said it now, maybe not, but that’s how our people are.

But by the same token, our players also probably respond better to criticism. That’s how our people are.

Some people sit in delusion & would say Babar would score more than one boundary off Asif.

Asif is a convicted fixer. His only means of staying even remotely relevant to anything is by barking away on social media. Most people know of his levels of integrity and therefore how much weight to give his comments.

Not a 100% on this but I was reading somewhere that a 15 year old Babar smacked him for 10 fours. Not sure if there is any truth to that

there was a pakistan a vs pakistan u19 match, heard it on social media

It's just Asif's opinion. Nobody cares. Or at least shouldn't care. Babar doesn't care. So that's it. There's no need to give importance to such people.

Toh don't give relevance.

Asif knows it's a one-sport country and people who wouldn't even be employed as waiters overseas have become 'sports journalists' in this country.

They are in search of cricket related content all the time so just might as well stay relevant.

See everyone has a right to an opinion. What Asif said is his opinion, so let it be.

Asif owes no one anything, as a matter of fact he has all my sympathies. Many politicians, army generals & judges go unpunished in this country and live a life full of luxuries.

Poor guy has paid his dues and now is earning his halal earning overseas, just like millions of Pakistanis. Respect!

Exactly. Plus once he has served his punishment, there's no need to remind him everytime on what he did.

Also, there's a BIG difference between spot-fixing and match-fixing. Yahan match fixers like Akram are made brand ambassadors and no one blinks an eye but when it comes to Amir and Asif, everyone has his/her swords out

This really does sum up Asif's character brilliantly.

The lack of remorse and awareness both he and Amir displayed in the aftermath highlights likely cognitive issues. And i say they are issues because it is not beneficial to possess this level of narcissism.

But this fearless attitude is also why both got to the very top of their field.

In the end it's Pakistan's loss whichever way you look at all this.

What a load of nonsense

Amir didn’t show remorse for what he did?

Fact is what Asif says is irrelevant.

Of course Asif could have worded his criticism of Babar better but that's how he is, I guess.

If he was a genuine sane person who truly cared for Pakistan he would have redeemed himself by being a bowling coach for Pakistan instead he denied that offer stating that the salary was low . This proves the intention of a person. A money and attention hungry loser who isn’t sorry for what he did . Rather has audacity to talk crap about players who are working hard on themselves

Asif was a magician back in his times and he could have done so much foe the team but yet he chooses the wrong path and is talking aginst te top batter of the world is just an attention seeking thing IMO.

What a joke

So Rohit would have smashed Shaheen for 25+ runs per over if he survived the new ball spell in 2021?

I mean he is 40 years old now - agree with the comments above about him potentially having some form of narcissistic personality disorder. The irony is, if he had a shred of integrity, he would have been making these comments now as someone who had taken 400+ test wickets, rather than someone who was convicted, banned and jailed for corruption.

The reality is that Asif has not done justice to his talent. Cocaine, match-fixing etc are the reasons that this guy is nowhere to be seen now. He could have been the bowling coach but he preferred money own service of his country.

Asif is right but not due to any skill of his but more so because any bowler - no matter from Australia or Zambia- can bowl a maiden to stat padders like Rizwan and Babar

Considering only their cricket, both players are the greats of the game. Asif troubled the best batsmen of his era while Babar is scoring runs against the best bowlers of the world at present. I don't think it is fair to compare players of different times.

Hiding?

Are you sure?

The guy has been playing cricket and coaching in USA and has been in the public eye.

I don't think he's hiding from anyone.

I think that was the tactics used by asif to get into the lime light

Otherwise, at his current age he cant even bowl a maiden over against me.
