Where does Hafeez rank in Pakistan's best T20 batsmen? Looks like Babar will surpass him and Malik pretty soon. Only reason players like Malik and Hafeez have so many runs is because they've hung on so long. Their averages are horrendous. It's criminal to put the likes of Kohli Sharma McCullum Warner in this bracket.

Mohammad hafeez reaches 2000 T20 international runs

M. Hafeez is the second Pakistani to hit 2000 runs in international cricket and t20 format along with Shoaib Malik

Among Pakistanis is the fastest to reach the milestone

In terms of all international cricketers he is the 9th player to reach this milestone alongside with

Kohli
Sharma
Guptill
Malik
Warner
Morgan
Mccullum
Sterling
And now hafeez

Hafeez achieved the 2000 run Mark in his 93rd match and 89th innings

Mohammad Hafeez is underrated

He was motm against England in the World Cup and is playing beautifully right now. If he can bowl a bit he will be useful in the T20 World Cup in India. One of our few batsmen that can hit pacers really well

He's not underrated. He has a T20 average of 25, and ODI average of 32

He's pathetic. Don't get carried away with one decent innings

Hafeez has been good for us in LOIs over the last 10 years. Pakistani fans will deny it because they think he’s been keeping out talented youngsters that don’t exist

How is he under rated . He averages 20 in 5 t20 World Cups, and 27 in 4 50 over world cups. When the pressure is on and he goes missing .

He always get slack but he’s performed well for us several times. Even helped us win the CT. he carried the batting at one stage a few years ago. He is much better than Malik who is the worst batsmen In the team.

He is average. For our standards he is underrated. He has consistently been exposed by top bowlers. He wouldn't have lasted long in teams like Australia and India.

All it takes is 1 innings for our fans to make such threads. This game is a meaningless one. It's not even like there is pressure on Hafeez.

I am not making this thread based on this one innings. Stop trying to act superior to other Pakistani fans all the time. It’s not a good look. You’re not some cricketing sage so sit down

So why not make the thread a couple of days ago?

It's clearly a reaction after his performance.

If you thought he was so underrated you would have made this thread earlier. You can think he is underrated. I think he is average. He will have days like this but against top bowlers he will be exposed.

Maybe I just felt like making it right now coincidentally wise one. No one is saying he is a world class batsman. Have I even implied that?

Hasan123 you keep crying about how we don’t have world class batsmen which I do agree with. Then you cry about how hafeez will not perform against world class bowlers. You are contradicting yourself. If he is good enough for our standards and has done a good job over the years for us then he does not deserve all the hate. That’s what this thread is about. Simple

An average of 25 and strike rate of 116 after 90 odd T20s, average of 32 and strike rate of 76 in over 200 ODI games is not underrated.

Stats cannot be underrated or overrated. Stats are numbers. I’m saying he has been underrated by Pakistanis over the years despite doing a serviceable job

You are forgetting his bowling contributions too

He has done a good job and was good enough for our standards in the past. But now I don't believe he is good enough and should be moved on.

Hafeez is a bonafide choker on the biggest stage.

His records in ICC tournaments is very poor , and for a man who is in the team for his experience it is simply not good enough to have him in the team at this age.

He has a very poor T20 World Cup record . 1 50 in 5 World Cups. An average of 20 and a SR of 106.

Surely he must know this , the selectors know this and the records are their to see. So why take him to another World Cup .

He is an egoistic , selfish individual. His celebration where he got his 50 with the immense fist pump shows that .

Feels he has right to be in the team just because he is a “senior”.

WASIM AKRAM was mightily impressed by veteran batsman Hafeez... (Sky)

"This is the only way you can answer back to your critics. He got 69 off 36 deliveries – an incredible innings with incredible shots on-side and off-side. Big sixes as well. He has been phenomenal and proved he is still required by Pakistan."

Hafeez is legend,he should continue and quit on his will
Fans shouldn't question his ability anymore

He did well today. It is a shame he couldn't bowl. He could've been handy with the ball.

Hafeez batted really well yesterday and all credit to him - but as I was saying to a friend while we watched the game together when Pakistan was batting first , when Hafeez bats as fluently as this and the bowlers are not from Zimbabwe or Bangladesh, you can be sure it’s a belter of a batting wicket. Expect England to easily chase 200 on this wicket were my exact words at mid innings break.

I used to get the same gut feeling back in the 90s when ever Saleem Elahi scored a 100 in one day cricket - expect the opposition to score a lot of runs on this wicket.

What is the meaning of all this fist pumping by him? Hes proving his detractors incorrect with one innings here and there?

The fact of the matter is hes played t20s for over a decade with overall poor - avge performances Hes 40 now Hes had his time and its gone Whether he scores a 50 every other innings from now on is not the point

The point is its time to move on and give a new guy a chance someone who can be the mainstay for the team for the next decade together with babar Not hold them back because a 40 yr old cant let go

Younis Khan on Hafeez has said that we shouldnt look to replace a player who is doing so well and is also fit.

Absolute gutter of a stat, this one. Any one, and literally any batter will have a similar record if you give them 90 odd games.

Sad part is not the stat, it is the congratulatory messages that are flooding social media for this.

Hafeez struggles in the first 6 as he doesnt no to build or go big he should come in after 10 overs

I would prefer to move on from him but he showed why he is still in the team. Can't really drop him after those 2 performances.

At this stage of his career number 4 is the best fit for him.
