I just looked for M Hafeez stats as a T20 batsman in last 2 years. And I was more than surprised. At his beloved batting positions (i.e. opening / No. 3) Professor has managed only 1 50 in 16 innings and he averages 13.43 @ 93 S/R against all teams excluding Zim & assosiates. Dissecting the stats a bit further, he has managed to avg 17.37 @ 97.20 batting first while he has been miserable chasing totals i.e. averaging 9.50 @ 86.36 S/R. How can anyone justify these batting stats is beyond me. Here are the stats ( http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/en...4;spanval2=span;template=results;type=batting )
Even Afridi has managed more runs (265 vs 215), more average (16 vs 13.43), and obviously more S/R (177.77 vs 93.07) than the "senior" Professor..
Hafeez still occupies one spot as an opening batsman / No. 3 in playing XI. He fails as an opening batsman, next game he is the No 3. Couple of games he fails there, he is brought in as an opening batsman. Hafeez as a No. 3 has averaged 10.75 with S/R of 84.31 in the same period.
Shahzad was dropped despite having more runs (316 vs 215) and average (24.30 vs 13.43) than the Professor. Even "tuk tuk" Shehzad's strike rate of 117.47 is better than Professor's 93.07. In my opinion, Shahzad's dropping from the squad is justified.
The next question is. Has Hafeez got the worst stats in all T20 top order batsman in last 2 years among all teams (including assosiates)?
