In 17 World Cup and Champion Trophy matches, going back to 2006, this legend averages 22 at a SR of 78

The funny thing is he pulled out of the WC 2015, otherwise it would have been worse

Question is why do we keep going back to these tried and tested failures, when its clear that players like him always bottle it. When have they ever come through in a crunch game

national treasure hai bhaijaan

Big time bottler.

Never questioned his ability but he always had problems mentally in big matches.

Nowhere to be seen in the field and nowhere with his bowling either.

Actually 2011 WC Semi final he looked up for it but otherwise he doesn't show up.

He's finished. As Mamoon said above, Hafeez was struggling to hit the ball against a medium pacer like Pandya.

Reflexes are gone. It was very ugly seeing him connect a shot, only for the ball to land nowhere near the inner circle, let alone the boundary.

He used to be pretty good at rotating the strike, but wasn't able to yesterday. Also looked quite selfish defending while the RRR was rocketing towards 10.

His bowling is borderline chucking and not good enough to keep him in the team alone. Besides, the team already has defensive bowlers like Amir and Imad. No need for anymore.

As a senior he should've been calm under pressure, but he wasn't.

I thought he was gone after England tour but fsr he was brought back.

Need to get rid of him ASAP.

His WT20 performance was height of mental midgetry. Realised he couldn't deliver the goods so went into saving his place mode tuk tuk tuk with a stupid grin on his face.

He is face of medicore class of 2003 - Kami Farhat Faisal Iqbal generation which destroyed our cricket.

He should been dropped the day he was banned for chucking.

How can you expect a 35 year old absolutely average lower order batter to peform on the world stage as a no4 ? You entrust him and you get a selfish innings and stupid decisions like getting Malik run out.

I want this garbage along with Wahab and Shehzad gone forever.

And stop going on about Sadaf and Fawad who are also sub standard filth.

We need quality prospects under 24 and we need them now before we have another world cup disaster in 2019.

Hafeez's frailties against the big moments are well established.
Please direct all such questions and others like why are azhar, Malik, hafeez, shehzad on this tour to following address:
Inzamam ul Haq
C/o Pcb
Gravy train road.

His greatest choke was in the World T20 2012 against India. Was a bundle of nerves for 20 odd deliveries before finally perishing to...Kohli.

It's Pakistan where rubbish players like hafeez and Shehzad can play hundred of international matches with 30+ average and 70+ strike rate as opener. Even team like Bangladesh wouldn't continue with such TTFs year after year.

With the blessings of these players Pakistan is only one country who often can show a 0/3, 2/4, 10/3, 15/4 drama on scoreboard.

All my analysis is relative to the mediocirty that exists in the team. None of them deserve to be compared to batsmen from the other teams or be called good against pace in "absolute" terms.

Relative to Malik, Shehzad, Azhar when it comes to scoring in ODIs vs. pace, he's better. But that's not a great benchmark.

Combined, all of them are poor.

Another one of those absolute phateechar players that Hawkeye rates lol

Hafeez's career should have been ended around 5 years back, but here we are still playing him

I have wanted this mediocre player dropped since 2013, yet he is still finding a place in the team. I wouldn't be suprised too see him at the toss at the start of the 2019 WC

He was the worst of the lot yesterday. Against pace.

Couldn't put bat on ball, let alone score.

He was yesterday, that doesn't mean someone like Malik suddenly became the better bat against pace after one match.

You should've told me that you want to discuss a match, not the overall ability. :baelish

Their overall record is poor though, so I won't be wasting my words on discussing two mediocre batsmen who have played for a decade+.

Hafeez's 'ability' against pace is of no use if his reflexes are past it, which is what seems to be the case.

It was only at his peak, whenever that was, that he could just about handle pace (as long as there's no sign of lateral movement, of course).

Hafeez could, at no point in his career, handle pace on pitches with decent bounce.

I was going to add an exception for express pace, which I have never seen him play with ease.

He is (or was) the king of playing elegant shots against medium pacers.

I question his ability too.

Horrible whilst chasing and cannot accelerate early on in his innings if his life depended on it.

Even if he HAD ability at some point he is 37 he's finished, he should go do something useful with his life instead of ruining match days for us. He is holding back potential players and at 37 he is going to get worse Please professor saab maaf karain and leave us now.

Hafeez is finished he cant hit anyone bowling 130k plus. At least before he could smash medium pacers on bhattas . Hes done now should retire after CT

The thing is Hafeez always had bags of talent. He's very easy on the eye, times it well, can also clear the ropes with ease sometimes. Unfortunately for whatever reason, realising that potential was never in his destiny.

The time has come for a complete overhaul of the ODI setup and Hafeez should be on the first names on the causality list, along with Malik, Wahab, Azhar, Junaid and Selfie.

I think that was true about 5 years ago, I don't think he would be getting out to the pull shot like he did today back then. He's looked hopeless with the bat for some time now.

Shahzad, Hafeez, Azhar should not be near ODIs bulid team with young player we are loosing matches either way lets stick with young players till world cup 2019 and see

Add Akmals to that list too

Mate Hafeez is poison for the team. His mode of operandus is disgusting as a limited overs batsman, this will destroy youngsters batting with him. Processor in momentum destruction.

If Hafeez has any shame, he should retire from all forms of international cricket after CT.

Can't bat, can't bowl, and can't field. On top of that the biggest mental midget to have ever played for Pakistan.

He has a good chance of leading PAK in next ICC event though - unless Umpires call him for today's show.

Azhar needs to be kicked out first before Hafeez. At least Hafeez cab ball few overs and score 20-30. Azhar is totally worthless

Ideally Azhar and Hafeez should not part of team , But we are missing replacement of them. In case of Hafeez , Harris Sohail can be better replacement.

he is going to be he next Afridi gonna play way past his expiry date and troll all you fans..

he should be kicked out of the side. Most hated player of Pakistan . He should be replaced with Haris & after CT Umar Amin should be given a chance .
