well he can't be much worse than Sohail tanvir. I'd select him on the name alone :ik

never seen him befor.......but very impressive stats, plus a 9-fer against a strong HBL batting line-up! :O

Imran Khan Zindabad Imran Khan Zindabad :p

Kon Bachaye Ga Pakistan Pace attack Imran Khan Imran khan!

His stats are impressive and considering his name he should be made captain of the national team right now

stats look great for 59 innings...looks like a wicket taker with 5x 4wicket and 7x fivers

I have seen him bowl and he is no faster than 82mph. A rubbish bowler!

Maybe he had an off day when you watched him? His stats don't suggest he is a "rubbish" bowler.

Are you suggesting he is rubbish because he wasn't bowling 90mph!?

It helps to be quick but he reminded me of Manzoor Elahi. Just an average bowler who is barely decent at the first class level.

SR of 40 in domestic bowling is not that great, but worth a look

Then you must know that Umar Gul, Shoaib Akhtar, Junaid Khan, Wahab Riaz, Tanvir Ahmed and Sohail Tanveer have extremely pathetic S/R in domestic cricket....because all of them have a S/R way below 40.5;

Domestic is first class minus international , but still 40.5 in a very good strike rate in any cricket.

His stats have improved further after the game mentioned by OP.

Average: 21.71
Strike Rate: 37.9

Now that is seriously impressive. I hope the selectors are looking, and if not, someone bring it to their attention!

Imran Khan

Hey Pak passion fans just wanted to get some info anyone know who Mohammad Imran Khan from Lower Dir, North-West Frontier Province. I know he shares the same name as my personnel favorite player bar none. i was just looking at cricinfo and as Pakistan seam bowling looks weaker than in the past and this lad got some decent figures in first class cricket. 45 matches 170 wickets average of 22.55 strike rate at 38.6.

Any one know much about him?

been grabbing scalps for fun last 2 seasons how old is he?

He is 25 which i think is a good age for test cricket i know i am jumping the gun as i have never seen him bowl but his stats are impressive

Saw him warming up for peshawar panthers at pindi stadium, in fbt20 his run-up and action are very smooth

Saw him bowling against PIA. His runup and action is a almost a complete copy of Umar Gul's. He was bowling well, taking the ball away from the right hander, but probably bowling in the low to mid 130's

Must important question, at what speed he bowls? Unless he can move the ball like Asif then good speed is very important.

Most important thing is that he is taking wickets in the domestic cricket....and that too of big name cricketers... must have a decent speed. He should be given a chance....

Currently he has S/R of 38.6... in FC cricket... compare that to other big name bowlers in Post #20 above.

Very impressive stats, definitely deserves ago. However seeing how our selectors have been treating Tabish Khan and Sadaf Hussain, i fear they will do the same to him.

Selectors also need to look at Asad Ali...... but then again, the love-affair between Sami and selectors has to end first.

Selectors seem to be scared to try new fast bowlers. They'd rather keep going with Gul, Tanvir, Sami etc.

Players who are performing well domestically like this guy need to be given extended chances in the national team.

Yes but not only Sami, they also need to stop picking failures like Tanvir and Arafat.

i would not mind a pace bowling combo of imran dad khan, junaid khan and imran khan :yk

Agreed Asad Ali, Imran Khan and Sadaf Hussain need to be brought to the limelight slowly.

I've been hearing these names a lot > tabish khan, anwar ali, m. Talha, sadaf hussain, rahat ali, Asad ali, mohamad imran khan, imran dad khan who have performed well in domestic..
Whos the best among these??
And If Pakistan has so many good fast bowlers then what the problem??

A few years ago, there used to a lot of side matches before home/away tours where player could show how good they are... after performing in domestic cricket and getting selected for those matches....

Problem is ... the side matches have been eliminated all together .... specially for team like Pakistan whose home matches are in UAE.... and arranging side matches for there is a big hassle.

Pakistani players are only playing international matches... team management is too scared to give chances to even players selected in the quad of 15. Rahat Ali and Anwar Ali were selected in recent recent tournaments/series but came back home without playing a single international match...because captain/coach did not want to temper with playing XI.

All we can say is....... thank you IPL, CT20, BCCI and ICC for making international tours so hectic that side matches are almost eliminated.

England side (and young Indian players) is lucky that it is getting 3 side matches (India A, Mumbai A & Haryana) before the 1st test.

personally not seen him bowl, but i went to watch lancashire vs leicestershire t20 game in old trafford with him and some friends who got to know him through cricket games as he was playing in the yorkshire league this summer, very simple down to earth guy, who wants to break into the team. and from what my friend was saying, he bowls with decent pace and a very similar action to umar gul. certainly had the build and look of a fast bowler.

This guy deserves to be in the team against India in the upcoming series. Sai and Tanvir are going to get epic phainty against Indian batsmen on Indian pitches.

unless he has control on swing similar to amir and bowls in mid to late 130s
OR
If he is an express pace ranging from 145 to 155.

he has a potential of a match winner

Otherwise dont bother

^ 144 - 155ks is just a dream currently of all of our fast bowlers...

dude its not a dream they are there you have to find them

If pace wise muhammad amir bowled a 148.9 kph delivery in sf of t20 wc 2009, it meant tht we could have more of them.
There are lots of regions in peshawar where these chickens dont go.

This guy is a must in our team , I am sure M.Hafeez and Misbah have seen him and they might go and induced the selectors.

I also hope that he is not one of those who bowls good outswingers at around early 130s with good accuracy and pickup loads of our technically inept FC batsmen wickets.
We need something special.

Forgot about the india series, ODIs and T20s. The main thing is to give these new bowlers a go in tests, especially on pitches in SA.

Dont hold your breath, that's not going to happen. WE will still see Gul, cheema and junaid playing, with Sami waiting in the hut.

Imran Khan Zindabad Imran Khan Zindabad :p

+1 :D  :imran

Back to the topic, very impressive stats ! The selectors need to have a look at this guy. The fast bowling talent in Pakistan is there, always has been and always will be...it just needs to be given chance and its up to the selectors to do so.

Could be the next big thing out of Pakistan !

fellow on Twitter I know has played some league cricket with him, apparently is a carbon copy of Umar Gul and has been recorded at 135 kph...

Hmm does he move the ball both ways consistently at that pace? If yes then bring him in.

135 is not quick, but perfect if you are a McGrath, Asif type bowler.

Umar Gul does not swing the new ball. He does nothing really as he does not take wickets and is not economical. Pakistan have wasted 9 years on this guy. If we back anyone for this long, I'm sure we would have a better bowler than Gul.

Gul's strength was his yorkers. He was perfect for when Amir and Asif led the attack, and Gul could come in after and bowl his yorkers and get wickets. When he got asked to be a frontline bowler he lost his magic, and has been a pretty poor bowler since then. Great T20 batsman though :)

Ok I just remember seeing him bowling alongside Gul in domestic T20 match 3 years back where Gul bowled brilliantly and Imran was hit all around the park , Yes he is a carbon copy of Gul but he is more consistent with his leg-cutters and quiet is accurate ,didnt bowl yorkers and nothing special in terms of pace. I hope he has improved since then

Guys I know him personally, he did attend the camp before Sri Lanka tour after impressive outing last season but selectors went with Rahat Ali and Sami leaving him out. His action and run-up is similar to Gul, a carbon copy basically. Hits the seam. Not been biased but I hope selectors at least have a look at him because I believe he can be very good. Inshallah South Africa tour is what he's targeting. Here are a few pictures for you guys:

Thanks.

Going by his arm position in one of the pics, his action does not look similar to Gul. Gul is much more high arm.

that arm action looks more like shaun tait's :akhtar but he has a straight strong leg

Normally when you sit casually with any Pakistani FC cricketer and ask about age, they tell you both the paper and their real age. I asked him for his real age specifically, he said he's 25 and that's his real age!
