What's new

Mohammad Imran Khan - Pace bowler

4th Test - No Imran Khan

More or less it's obvious our bowlers have been found out, it's pretty poor from management not to try something diffrent and add imran Khan in playing 11

very poor,, just athers mentioned he expected IK to be picked for the 4th test and remembered his valiant efforts chipping in with 1-2 wickets in every inns bowling tight line and length...sohail got found out in the 2nd inns of the last test itself....another poor fielding from him while writing this..

even if he was rubbish he still should have been given a chance, right now England are very comfortable with our attack keep rotating our attack may have made a difference

At least he provides some discipline and control over his line and length. We've wasted the new ball on a green tinged pitch this morning.

What's even more shocking, IMO, is that Sohail Khan has been given another match - hasn't done anything to warrant another match.

IK should certainly have come in for him.

Absolutely pathetic that he never got chance on slightly bowler friendly conditions when he bowled his heart out in desert. He will now be dropped in next series for a possible fast bowling all-rounder and forgotten.

Averages 28 and can't make it to this team ahead of Ifthikar? I can't see the logic behind this decision.

Really surprised that he is not playing in place of the clearly unfit Sohail Khan.

Another poor decision. Pak are now suffering for not playing IK instead of Sohail. This has meant that Wahab/Aamir have had to be overbowled which lead to extra runs for England.

When will you learn Pakistan? One would expect Mickey to know that 3 and a half bowlers won't do on a flat track.

Well Misbah couldn't have let his buddy Iftikhar go back home without a match.

Imran shou;d've played over Ifti. Iftikhar won't offer much with the bat either. Imran would've given another FULL bowling option. We were already doing decently with 5 batsmen since Younis and Hafeez don't count. It would've been basically the same batting wise.

But I thought Hafeez was his buddy?

Pakistani fans will never be happy.

Misbah has selected Iftikhar at every given opportunity, even in the Pakistan Cup he was in Misbah's side.

It is quite obvious that he is only in the side due to his cordial relations with Misbah, when everybody can see Iftikhar isn't even club level

Made the same point. The team's overall thinking has been far too defensive which is what will cost us the series.

Needed a seam bowler to exploit the grass on the wicket and bowl a channel .

Plus the english batsman seem to nick right armers away going delivery . Maybe its the different angle .
Unlucky guy.

Imran Khan - Missed Opportunity?

He has been our best fast bowler(best avg and strike rate) over the last couple of years and has toiled hard playing handy roles in our recent test success at home in UAE.

This was his time to shine - in fact his reward for putting in the hard yards bowling with discipline - a chance to bowl on English wickets but he didn't get to play and now he flies home after the test.

Was this a selection blunder or the warm-ups did show the team management that the other bowlers were better? Could this series be poised differently had he played?

Easy to say since the guy sitting out is better than the ones playing, though I understand where you're coming from statswise.

However it wouldn't have made a difference even if Imran magically bowled tight over after tight over as the other bowlers including Yasir have been way too hit or miss.

So yeah he wouldn't have made a difference. Also have to say Yasir has been used a little too defensively for my liking last test.

Thanks to our clueless captain, our clueless management.

The guy who is statistically the best Test bowler we have, isn't getting a single chance at bowling friendly wickets.

Really hurting and pathetic.

dosent make sense what are you saying? Imran would defenitly get at least 2 wickets. he has been getting wickets in Uae

Where is Imran Khan jr? Why was he dropped? Did he get to bowl on non-sub continent pitches?

A tireless bowler who bowled with his heart.

Yes, he was catastrophic at Sydney in 2016-17: in the Second Innings Yasir Shah opened the bowling in his place.

I think he failed fitness tests repeatedly.

Imran Khan and Yasir Shah were the two opening bowlers in the second innings. Yasir replaced the injured Amir as the opening bowler not IK.

From Misbah's remarks today after picking Imran Khan Sr for Test squad for Australia

Imran Khan Senior has been drafted in the side as he provides backup experience with Abbas and he is one of the most effective exponents of the new ball, while he can regularly bowl at a good pace.

Imran Khan's recent FC performances:

1. 2/72, 1/19
2. 0/67, 1/10
3. 1/64, 0/42

Misbah following in the footsteps of his predecessors.

In the last 3 years, he's picked up around 50 FC wickets at 30.

Just about any pacer will have done better, so performances are clearly not the factor in this selection.
