KARACHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) has summoned Islamabad United pacer Mohammad Irfan and Karachi Kings opener Shahzeb Hassan for an inquiry regarding the infamous spot-fixing scandal that took place during the second edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), sources told The Express Tribune.
“The ACU has summoned Shahzeb and Irfan for questioning in connection with the ongoing inquiry into the spot-fixing scandals,” said an unnamed PCB official.
The news must’ve come as a surprise for Kings batsman Shahzeb, who was given clearance by the PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan in a statement during the tournament.
However, tall left-armer Irfan, who plays for same franchise which also featured suspended duo Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif, remained under investigation throughout the tournament.
The names of both the cricketers as well as Quetta Gladiators’ left-arm spinner Zulfiqar Babar were mentioned when the news of the scandal first popped up.
