Mohammad Haris could not seem to break in the KP team with the likes of Iftikhar, Malik and Hafeez ahead. When KP had secured the qualification, they fitted him in the team so he could gain some exposure.

In the first game, Rizwan played Haris where he played in U-19 team (middle-order) and set up a great example by giving him the keeping duties as well. This was appreciated by Azhar Ali in the commentary box, he said, "Rizwan is setting up a great example here, no one is willing to give his gloves to a youngster"

The youngster couldn't perform with the bat so instead of dropping him, Rizwan sacrificed himself and gave the youngster a chance to open the innings. The youngster failed again. But he was persisted with again as well.

It's the third game today and Haris is going to open ahead of Rizwan.

Rizwan always had something positive about him so no surprise there.

Rizwan is a top bloke, gives it his all in every aspect of the game and definitely gives positive vibes.

Yes that is Mohammad Rizwan. Remember the name.

This is how you make players and build a system where everyone is taken care of.

That Kid got a fifity today and he will never forget what Rizwan did for him.

His on field captaincy is decent as well (apart from that Iftikhar blunder the other day). Should be given the vice captain role for the test side.

Yes highly impressed by that gesture of giving ur batting position after a few failures , handing the gloves to him. Thanks to OP to make a thread for this , which needs the recognition.

He should be the vice captain across all formats. Definitely needs to be part of the leadership table.

Rizwan's performance in this tournament has been highly commendable. Both as captain and as player. And he gave up the gloves aswell which is not something most established wicket-keepers would do for a youngster. Shows he is not insecure and confident in his ability. And then ofc he took that stunning catch to nail the point home.

He has definitely made a very strong case as Pakistan's all-format wicket-keeper. His positions in the Test and ODI sides were never in question but now he has shown he can thrive in the shortest format too.

Good to see a worthy player effortlessly put aside the abusive Sarfraz by both performances and words.

Law of averages dictates that Pakistan should get a good keeper batsman right about now. Maybe Rizwan is the man.

After the Akmal era, it’s so, so nice to not have to worry about our keeper. Sarfaraz was great to have, and now Rizwan taking the mantle will hopefully be even better.

If babar is thier then we cant have rizwan thier azwell even thou hes a fantastic keeper Bateman

Rizwan is criminally underrated in all aspects. It's taken him a while to get there, but he has a fantastic few years in front of him as Pakistan's all format keeper.

I wouldn't rule him out for captaincy either, he's a natural leader and very well liked in the dressing room.

Rizwan is an admirable player, a real fighter. But to say he's our all format keeper is just not right. And that's no knock on Rizwan himself. T20 teams are all about team combination. Rizwan is generally a slow starter. That's ok when you have a rejuvenated Fakhar, a firing Hafeez (atleast in domestics) and a finisher like Mussadiq playing around you. However, for the national team if you have Babar and Malik playing, the starting strike rate from all of these does nothing but build pressure. That's why you can't play Babar and Rizwan in the same team unless you're other batters i.e Hafeez, Haider, Fakhar, Malik go at more than 150 sr. if either of those 4 fail you end up with a below par score. And our bowling is not the overperforming machine it used to be that made the difference. This is why Rizwan, a genuinely wonderful player, can't play t20s.

On the other hand, him and Fakhar should now be the ODI opening pair going forward.

I have been saying this from day one and havent changed my mind rizwan is a fantastic player and keeper but he cant play in the team as an anchor as we already have babar thier

ok fair enough. You both make sense.

I think we should drop Malik and carefully plan the batting order with Rizwan in T20. Keeping alone can cost you games if it is not up to the internation standard and I don't see anyone better than Rizwan. As for Rizwan the T20 batsman, I believe he has gotten better and we should give him atleast 5 to 10 more games. If he continues to be a problem as a T20 batsman, then by all means, throw him out.

Malik has been dropped for the Zimbabwe series this may now give rizwan more of a chance .he has got better but he will have to bat down the order.rohail is not back up keeper really surprised they didnt go with zeeshan Ashraf as back up keeper.lets see how rizwan does in t20s
