What's new

Mohammad Rizwan spent 2 nights in a hospital before playing against Australia in ICC T20 World Cup

Again he isn't doing anything of the sort but keep corrupting a feel good story because that's what you guys are good at doing. Any good news positive story for Pakistan the usual suspects come on to denigrate. As Pakistan fans we enjoy the jazba and feel it should be a part of a Pakistani player. Islam is part of that. Its not really our problem if it makes you feel uncomfortable as an Indian.

I am not an indian. :P I am pakistani

Yes, because pakistani cricketers have to become good show off muslims. its in their DNA. I know rizwan is cute and humble which is best thing but please do not bring religion cards when you win some few matches.
If you have to pick faults in someone being proud of their religion then the problem is with you man. Rizwan is literally not harming anyone.

As I said, I am not against Rizwan, he is a good player.. But again same old tactics that were used before by Akmals (where they were at peak).. Too much over hyping.. If PCB can spare rizwan some time and Rizwan works on his weaknesses; he will become much better than he is today..
I dont want Rizzi going the same way, where he becomes too fond of limelight and want to be in news for good or bad reasons
He still has a long way to go ; only if focus should be on his batting, winning matches for the team; rather than in news for some other reasons; That is where I like Sarfaraz, no news at all (given he was not performing) But guy wanted to stay away from reels

The last part of this post thoroughly exposes you as a poster and why you have such a venomous outlook towards Rizwan.

"I am feeling much better than before when I was having difficulty breathing. I will start practice again from tomorrow as I've now had 2-3 days rest which was advised by the doctors"

- Mohammad Rizwan

I think you are pretty clueless ; and just going with emotions
I also criticized Younis khan for playing in CT 2009 being unfit in 2009 CT .. same here , if Rizwan is unfit , then he should not be playing
That shows how insecure our players are
Either he was insecure about his place or this ICU drama was a hoax (which unfortunately looks based on medical understanding)

Rizwan had probable viral infection/bacterial infection and recovered quickly to open for his side in the semi final

Vs

Rizwan had a severe chest infection, was admitted to ICU, couldnt get up for 2 days and suddenly the night before recovered to play cricket.

Which sells more?

Number 2.

Not Rizwans fault.

Bash PCB if you must for marketing this story.

And bash Medeor Hospital for using this mild infection to create a publicity stunt for them.

I bet the pulmonologist was told to lead this story by hospital administration.

I find Rizwan the most genuine guy in all Pakistan team.

Rizwan speaking to PCB:

"I really didn't want to talk about it but the fact is that I was in a strange condition as I originally went for a ECG inside the hotel but then I had difficulty in breathing and I went to the hospital where the doctor said that my air and food passages had closed down but beside that I would be ok by late morning then when afternoon came, he said you would be fine by the evening"

"The nurse told me that had I come 20 mins late, things would have become much more difficult for me and that I should stay in the hospital for 2 nights if it was needed; A lot of tests were done on me, and I was hoping that all these tests would help them treat me better so that I can be fit for the game"

The doctor said to me that it is my wish that you should play for Pakistan in the Semi-Final which really boosted my morale but then when he told me that my condition was not good and he gave me an idea of risks to me if I played; I said that I won't have any regrets if I face any problems later after playing for Pakistan in that condition - as that would be a sacrifice whilst playing for Pakistan"

"The doctor did what he could to speed up my recovery although it was a little painful"

That is what I said; only tests were needed for Rizwan. Again over hypping the idea that I was 20 min critical. I dont buy this idea if you were 20 min late then things would be different.. These assurances are never given by any doctor or nurse (except in movies)
When patient comes focus is on diagnosis and understanding how severe the medical condition is. Not to give any conclusion

I just request all my fellow Pakistani fans. Please ask logical questions to your cricket heroes. If you become logical they will also remain answerable to you in terms of performances , skills etc. And sooner we get rid of these hypothetical answers like Heroics, Miracle, Sacrifices..

Frankly, speaking no athlete sacrifices his life to play. This is a professional sport with lots of $$, glory, fame attached to it.. So please always ask reasonable questions to your superstars. They are good.

Again, I would refer you to your post where you called Rizwan selfish and only able to put away big full tosses...

Think the obvious intent to make some cheap points about Rizwan is very clear.

Of course.
But a poster should just admit to it rather then trying to obscure how they really feel by posting other things To over it up.

You can twist it however you want, but this man is one of the best thing to happen to Pakistan cricket in a very long time.

He's a serious determined cricketer, and wants to genuinely make a difference for the team in any way he can - a true TEAM player and we are extremely lucky to have him.

Best wishes for Rizwan.

I think we are discussing two different topics : one is Rizwan illness; and second is about his innings vs Australia

In context of the match; I found his innings to be slower than expected with some lose deliveries which helped his strike rate, and two dropped catches

Just stating the obvious

Again , no disliking for him; but his innings was a bit lucky

He may have been sick enough to require medical attention, but saying he spent two days in the ICU needing critical care is a bit too much.

That being said, a little bit of PR is harmless. Rizwan is clearly performing very well on the field and is probably the third most valuable member of the team after Babar and Shaheen.

I agree , it probably not Rizwan's fault but PCB keep on employing doctors with no clinical experience or knowledge who don;t know what is ICU and what kind of patients are admitted to ICU.

Hospital put Rizwan in ICU , probably just to make more money. Two nights in ICU cost hell lot of money compared to a regular room.

.... And adding charge of equipments in bills from a premier customer (treatment which were probably not needed but added) is more profit for the hospital.

Mohammad Rizwan and Dr Najeebullah Soomro reveal the tale of those 30 hours before the @T20WorldCup semi-final.

This portion from Dr. raising some eyebrows:

“You were unable to breathe and I have to get permission from the ICC to inject that medicine to help you recover. Usually, it is prohibited for the athletes but since there was no other option available, we have to take permission from the ICC to inject that medicine"

This is where pcb ends up shooting it self in the foot.

The world t20 event and rizwan heroics are done and dusted. There is no need to relive those moments as its not like we won the tournament.

Now with telling the whole actual story of the drug usage etc, this can create controversy. I wouldnt be surprised when india media ends up reporting that oh look, rizwan used a banned substance.

Dumb stuff by pcb, there is information you give out and there is information you dont give out.

Anywyas, the medicine might had been anabolic steroids that i think is used in pulmonary issues

As long as permission was granted from the ICC, there shouldn’t be any cause for concern

Not very smart of the media guys.

I find it a bit farcical this whole Rizwan issue . The semi final was an important match no doubt and every player wants to represent his country, but ultimately if he really was that ill a decision should have been made for him not to play .

He did reasonably well on paper scored 67 of 52, but he had a slow start and that may have been down to his health , and one can argue that if it was not for the brilliance of Fakhar we won’t have even crossed 160.

So in certain aspects it can be said that he potentially hindered his team batting at a SR of 127 till the 17th over . If he was fully fit it may have been a different story .

Whilst their is a heroic element projected in this I actually think it’s bordering on stupidity, and a PR exercise that nearly fell flat on its face for Rizwan and the management.

Time to draw a line under this chapter. Its been milked enough for an impact less innings in a lost match.

PCB social department is SO cringeworthy. The director must be a 13 year old kid because it seems that's the intended audience.

They literally put out a video on Imam-ul-Haq's hair routine the other day ! They're still milking the Australia series as if gaining approval from our white masters makes up for losing the Tests and T20.

Think about the decades of archive footage they hold. Why not release highlights of classic series or matches, or produce some documentaries ? They could tell so many great stories but they waste it on this crap.

They are smart. They know the captive audience these days is 13-16 year old kids with more interest in such things. It is very easy to get your demographic audience these days with some simple analytics and research.
