Soon after Men in Blue clinched their sixth Asia Cup title, Pakistani legend Wasim Akram lauded the Indian cricket team saying that the money invested in Indian Premier League was also showing results.

Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, Indian cricket team produced a stellar show in the recently concluded Asia Cup where the Men in Blue clinched their seventh title in the continental tournament. While many believed India might struggle a bit in the absence of their regular captain Virat Kohli, that wasn’t the case as most of the Indian batsmen were among the runs in the tournament. Lauding India’s dominance in the tournament, Pakistani legend Wasim Akram said that the team was much ahead of all other Asian teams.

"India proved to be well ahead of everyone," former Pakistan skipper Wasim Akram told AFP. India resumed their rivalry with arch-rivals Pakistan who struggled throughout the tournament. Men in Blue thrashed Pakistan in back-to-back matches, much to the dismay of the Pakistani fans.

Wasim, who is widely regarded as one of the finest players to have played the game, also lauded the Indian Premier League saying that the investment made in the lucrative tournament was paying rich dividends for Indian cricket. "Their exposure is greater, they have financial benefits and the money invested in their system like the Indian Premier League is bearing fruits."

Talking about the ICC World Cup 2019, Wasim said that the Men in Green will have to do a lot of work in all departments of the game. "It's hard to predict eight months in advance but I am sure Pakistan will bounce back. They have some serious work to do in both bowling and batting. Bangladesh have an inspirational captain in Mashrafe Mortaza and Afghanistan is becoming a dangerous team," Wasim added.
