Mosque Teacher jailed for 13 years over Child Sex Abuse

Looks like mullahs are taking cues from pastors and priests. A sick bunch, the lot of them.

As above, not the first and sadly won't be the last. Shame/Izzat can be a tool to silence victims by perpetrators. We put the teacher on a pedestal above even parents, far too much power for one person to have.

Feel terrible for the kids, loss of innocence, and feeling you have nowhere to turn, can't even confide in your parents or siblings.

Should have recieved a stronger sentence, disgusting indvidiual.

Every other week I read an article where a teacher from various types of schools has abused a minor. Something needs to be done.

I have noticed the so called religious people in every faith are likely to be the most guilty when it comes to all sorts of crime. They hide behind their faith to fool others.

Stop. Religiousness has no correlation to a tendency towards crime.

The family members should be jailed with this useless guy. They let this happen simply because he was a "man of faith".

Yes it does. The more outwardly religious a person is, the greater the change that he/she is as shady as they come.

Don't care what religion.

There is no correlation as such, however some people definitely use religion and trusted positions of religious authority as a cover for their bigoted mindsets and disgusting persuasions.

This imam would be one; there was also the nasty Jerry Falwell Sr who went on record with the view that God flew the planes into the World Trade Centre because was angry about the spread of homosexuality; and of course numerous Catholic priests have committed terrible misdeeds as well.

This is quite the sweeping statement, you will need to back it up with some evidence otherwise it goes down as just another nonsensical post.

I hope you noticed the word 'outwardly' in my post. It's not as sweeping when you take that into account.

When we were younger, I remember two of my friends saying their molvis had touched them. It's pretty common. Maybe decades of sexual deprivation plays its part.

Not only sexual but physical as well. It's the disgusting mindset here that disciplining children should be done by beating them up.

Contrarily to the Catholic priests the imams can marry and have a normal sexual life, I think it's just a case of the % of psychos you'd find in any human group more than an issue of sexuality linked with religion.

In the West sexuality is quite open but you have many old White men going to South East Asian countries to "enjoy" under-aged children (Frédéric Mitterrand, a French writer who's quite well known and respected, a former minister who also happens to be the nephew of a former President, openly displays in one his books how he preferred Thai boys he shipped from brothels, knowing that this "sexual slavery" - his words - he enjoys is built upon the misery of these peoples.)

Disgusting behaviour, his sentence means he'll spend the rest of his days behind bars.

Worrying that the victims were initially reluctant to speak out as mullahs are put on such a pedestal in our community and when such cases arise, some may start victim blaming. Thankfully the victims' families were supportive of them in going to the police.

The problem is ultra-religious and conservative societies lends itself to a great deal of sexual repression which can manifest itself in dangerous ways - like in this case and as we saw with the Catholic Church abuse scandal.

Its no coincidence that the highest consumers of pornography are places like Pakistan or the Bible Belt of the US.

I beg to differ. Catholic priests are not allowed to marry. Suppress something as powerful as a person's sex drive and it will come out in destructive ways.

Not just old ones. This type of sex tourism is foul and illegal.

It would make things a lot easier to classify if those people who wanted to indulge in such behaviour gave up either the behaviour or their faith. It's the hypocrisy which reeks, but of course it runs rampant in societies where religion is worn as a badge of honour. Very handy cover for fraud and embezzlement as well.

That's an anomaly amongst religions. For example, Muslims don't suppress their sex drives', but they control it with marriage.

I hope this Mullah doesn't see the light of day again.

Theoretically this should be the case with any act that this is a major sin in Islam. This includes drug dealers and rapists who destroy generations of families. Islam has been abused too long by ethnic Pakistani, Somali and Bengali Muslims in the UK to protect their cultural practices and subsequent societal issues that result from said practices.

Now is that even a punishment, hanged to death is the solution!

Deprived of liberty, made to live most hours a day in a dirty concrete box three metres by two, with another man, constant threat of violence when the cell door is open.

This cleric will be put in a segregated wing because in general population he would be torn to pieces.
